Chapter 36: Ambiguity! The Advancing Huang Yujia
But could I really harden my heart and move against her? Not to mention the wonderful memories we shared, our three years of contact alone had long since turned us into friends with a deep, unspoken understanding. If I were to kill her now just because my identity was exposed, then regret and remorse would surely become the shackles that would bind me for life.

Eliminating the first option left only the second.

At this thought, Huang Yujia felt deflated. ”Fine, my little nemesis,” she lamented. ”Just tell me what you want to do.”

Even now, Huang Yujia didn’t suspect that Chen Pingchuan had been investigating her; she simply assumed he had stumbled upon her secret by accident.

Feeling her killing intent fade, Chen Pingchuan secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Much like Huang Yujia, he was the type to appear calm on the surface while his heart was a turbulent storm. It was precisely this shared personality that made their relationship so harmonious.

With Huang Yujia’s resolve weakening, Chen Pingchuan naturally seized the upper hand. He took a step forward, backing her into a corner against the wall. He then scrutinized the woman before him with his clear, bright eyes.

Huang Yujia’s outfit today was rather casual: just a purple-black lace dress, with flesh-colored stockings covering her snow-white thighs and black sandals on her feet. A cascade of voluminous waves rested lazily on one fair, smooth shoulder. Her delicate face bore light makeup that highlighted her bright eyes and glistening, full lips. An alluring air of elegance and charm was as prominent as the formidable curve of her chest, practically bursting forth.

Chen Pingchuan felt his scalp tingle as if a fire of desire had suddenly ignited in the depths of his heart. He took a step back and, in a deliberately composed tone, said, ”Landlady, you don’t want your secret getting out, do you?”

”In that case, you’d better start thinking hard about what you’re going to do to make me keep it.”

”And don’t ask me what I want. Think about what you have to offer.”

Huang Yujia froze, sensing something odd in his tone. Just as she was trying to decipher the deeper meaning of his words, he acted as though he had said all he needed to say and turned to leave.

What? That’s it? He’s leaving?

A flurry of scenes from their time together flashed through Huang Yujia’s mind. The initial passionate encounter, followed by them going their separate ways after the thrill had passed. Her efforts to ask him out, only to be met with ruthless rejection. Hope turning into heartbreak. Ultimately, they devolved from almost-lovers into ordinary friends. Those vivid memories were still stored deep within her.

But what just happened? Was this guy... flirting with me? This coward who has the desire but not the guts... what got into him that he’s suddenly changed his tune?

Huang Yujia’s resolve hardened, and a wave of confidence washed over her. She pushed her chest out and grabbed the man who was about to walk away.

So, you want to play these games with me? You’re still too green for this, kiddo, she thought.

Chen Pingchuan calmly turned back, thinking he should take advantage of her confusion to get out of this mess. He feared he had botched this whole confrontation. However, before he could take a second step, a soft yet firm grip latched onto his arm. His body stiffened as a deliberately sweet, feminine voice sounded by his ear.

”Don’t go yet, handsome. You haven’t told me what you want. As for what I have... others may not know, but you should know perfectly well, shouldn’t you?”

Chen Pingchuan felt helpless. If not for the fear of hurting her, her meager strength would have never been enough to stop him. But he couldn’t be bothered to explain, so he let her force him back against the wall.

Just like that, their positions were completely reversed.

The warm breath from Huang Yujia’s lips was searing, and the potent scent of female hormones rushed into his nostrils. Chen Pingchuan tried to retreat, only to find the wall directly behind him, leaving no room to escape. He then tried to turn his head to avoid her gaze, but when his peripheral vision caught her playful eyes, he immediately stopped.

Instead, he lifted his head, puffed out his chest, and looked down at her with an air of superiority. The oppressive aura was palpable as he said coldly, ”Woman, don’t play with fire.”

Huang Yujia’s expression first tightened, then melted into a scornful smile. ”Oh, brother, don’t try to scare little old me,” she giggled. ”Play with fire? No, no, no. Where’s the fun in that? It’s much better to play with...”

Her tender red lips parted slightly, forming the shape of the word ”me.”

Her saccharine-sweet, affected voice was like fluffy cotton candy, making one’s heart itch. Chen Pingchuan felt a swelling in his lower abdomen as an uncontrollable physical reaction stirred within him.

He sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth. His face remained expressionless as he feigned seriousness, attempting one last struggle. ”Sister Jiajia, don’t think I can’t handle you. You should know, I’ve got leverage...”

Before he could finish, Huang Yujia cut in.

”Alright, alright, you win, big brother. Come on, do whatever you want with me, my good brother.”

As she spoke, she tilted her head up, revealing a pair of large, watery eyes. She had an expression that promised to grant his every wish, without a trace of the shyness a woman ought to have.

”Er...”

Chen Pingchuan was completely at a loss. She wouldn’t yield to his soft approach, nor was she intimidated by his hard one. What was he supposed to do?

Besides, while Huang Yujia was his landlady, she wasn’t old at all. Not yet thirty, she was in her prime. Truthfully, if something were to happen between them, it wouldn’t be a loss for him. But their core beliefs were different, and their personalities were too similar. That was why, after their encounter two years ago, he had resolutely decided to draw a clear line. More importantly, he had Xia Qingxue now. If he got involved with Huang Yujia again, wouldn’t that make him a scumbag?

Finally, Chen Pingchuan could only manage a bitter smile. He raised both hands in surrender.

”Sister Jiajia, I give up. I was just kidding before. What could I possibly demand? I... I just wanted to ask about... uh... next month’s rent.” He had quickly fabricated an excuse. ”Yes, the rent! Could I possibly delay it for another month? You know I don’t have much money. And this manual labor job... I’m out in the sun and rain, from dawn till dusk...”

Huang Yujia knew instantly it was an excuse he’d just invented. She had keenly caught the fleeting change in his expression. I was a spy by trade. Does he really think I’d fall for such a simple trick?

She secretly psyched herself up. With one hand, she twisted open her apartment door. Then, she boldly pressed her body closer to his. Though her pretty face was beet red, she still put on an incredibly brave front.

With a gentle tug, Huang Yujia pulled Chen Pingchuan into her apartment.

The room’s decor was cozy and inviting, a stark contrast to his own messy place. Everything was neat and orderly, with pure white walls and minimalist furniture that gave off a tranquil and comfortable feeling.

”Come on! Ravage me as you please!”

Chen Pingchuan looked startled and fell back onto the soft bed. Seeing this, Huang Yujia grew even bolder. A thrill of excitement coursed through her, and casting aside all shyness, she plopped herself right onto his lap.

Her lips parted slightly.

”Baby, how do you want to play?”

Suddenly, a loud ringtone echoed throughout the room.
