Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 15: Control! Purple Bird Gang Changes Leadership
[Today, you are unusually excited. After getting a taste of what it’s like to be a child of fortune, you feel that accepting the Goddess of Luck as your mother isn’t so bad after all.]

[You don’t sleep all night. At the crack of dawn, you arrive at Xia Qingxue’s apartment building, sporting two dark circles under your eyes.]

[You joyfully sing a tune, ”The Girl in the Distance.”]

[Xia Qingxue is captivated by your singing, and her gaze softens.]

[By experiencing the simple life of common folk and discussing the currents of history, you easily break through Xia Qingxue’s defenses in just half a month. You are intimately familiar with her personality, and your relationship progresses at lightning speed.]

[Half a month later, you score a home run.]

[You feel utterly conflicted. A voice in your head constantly warns you, yet your body acts as if possessed, committing beastly acts.]

[For the next two weeks, you let the mistake continue. While you experience endless pleasure, your body is completely drained.]

[Fearing she might laugh at you, you pretend to devote your time and energy to more serious matters.]

[You take out a new notebook and write furiously. After a full day of organizing your thoughts, you complete a preliminary plan, naming it ”The Ultimate Doomsday Bunker Construction Project: Phase One.”]

[You give the notebook and a portion of your Federation Coins to your two subordinates, instructing them to proceed with caution.]

[Thanks to the ample funding, the first phase of the Doomsday Bunker begins to take shape in just one month.]

[Although Guo Yihang and Liu Yaofei are sufficiently cautious, your identity is still exposed once the massive cash flow hits the market.]

[Three days later, on a dark and windy night, you are in a dim, deep alley.]

[You are ambushed again!]

[Your assailants number only a dozen or so. Standing among them, pointing and jeering, are Huang Mao and Green Hair, which gives you an inexplicable sense of familiarity.]

Chen Pingchuan was amused by the simulation’s information. Those two little punks are certainly persistent, he thought. They’re like toads on the back of your foot—not biting, just disgusting.

Of course, running into his simulated self was just their bad luck.

Sure enough:

[Annoyed by the chattering of these ants, you activate your intimidation skill, instantly plunging the group of thugs into a stupor.]

[Within a minute, you have knocked out all your enemies. Under the dim yellow streetlights, your solitary figure stands tall. This is the real you, the quick-draw artist.]

[You contact Guo Yihang and instruct him to bring your second-hand pickup truck.]

[Inside the cement factory, it’s a familiar setting and a familiar scene. But this time, you have a flash of inspiration—a truly brilliant idea.]

[In front of Guo Yihang and Liu Yaofei, you demonstrate your talent: Seed of Parasite.]

[You hold out your palm, facing up, and a white seed materializes upon it.]

[Next, you whisper something in Liu Yaofei’s ear. He looks troubled, but ultimately obeys your command.]

[Liu Yaofei uses a sharp knife to make a small incision near each person’s heart, carefully placing a white seed inside the opening.]

[The intense pain awakens them. They stare at you in utter terror, cursing you loudly and calling you a demon.]

[You remain indifferent, mocking them mercilessly, ”Heh, the wisdom of mortals!”]

[As for Huang Mao and Green Hair, the two who felt strangely familiar, you order Guo Yihang to give them special treatment: they will guard this cement factory for you forever.]

[The effect of killing a chicken to scare the monkeys is obvious. The Purple Bird Gang grunts stop their loud cursing, their faces showing only the relief of having survived.]

[As time passes, their gazes turn strange and numb. They no longer show any hostility toward you.]

[Naturally, your two subordinates witness this entire scene.]

”So, his personality is just as vile,” Chen Pingchuan murmured, his brow furrowed slightly.

Looking at the text on the simulator, he felt as if he were playing a puzzle-solving game. With each new simulation, he drew closer to the final answer.

”In reality, those two punks aren’t dead yet, so it doesn’t matter if they die a few more times in the simulation...” Chen Pingchuan reasoned with himself. He wasn’t the type to kill in cold blood. Although he would kill if pushed into a corner, he took no pleasure in slaughtering the weak.

[Three days later, you have Guo Yihang untie the prisoners’ ropes. He is confused by your order and questions your reasoning.]

[You insist. Reluctantly, Guo Yihang sets them free.]

[Just as you expected, the Purple Bird Gang members do not rebel. Instead, they kneel before you, vowing their eternal loyalty.]

[Guo Yihang and Liu Yaofei are once again stunned by this scene!]

[You laugh arrogantly. Without offering much of an explanation, you order everyone to prepare to return to the city.]

[Due to the limited space in the pickup truck, you decide to split everyone into two groups to return to the Outer City District in batches.]

[You and Guo Yihang are naturally in the first group, while you assign Liu Yaofei to the second.]

[When the truck returns to the Outer City District with the last batch of people, you don’t see Liu Yaofei. You ask your new subordinates what happened.]

[You receive an unexpected answer.]

[Liu Yaofei pretended he needed to use the bathroom and took the opportunity to slip away. This puzzles you slightly. From your perspective, being able to serve you should be his greatest honor.]

[Your mood sours, and you grow angry at Liu Yaofei’s inability to appreciate your favor.]

[Soon, however, you stop paying him any mind.]

[In just a few short days, you come to deeply appreciate the awesome power of the purple talent, Seed of Parasite. You find yourself addicted to this evil power, unable to break free.]

[Half a month later, Guo Yihang disappears.]

[A month later, Xia Qingxue also vanishes.]

[Your mood worsens. You don’t understand why the people around you keep leaving, one after another. But it doesn’t matter. After all, your number of followers continues to grow.]

[Six months later, you are the behind-the-scenes leader of the Purple Bird Gang. You learn many well-kept secrets, and your Parasite Seeds have spread throughout the entire Outer City District.]

[You discover the reason the Purple Bird Gang can run rampant in the Outer City District is that the gang leader’s sister is a renowned socialite in the Inner City District. She has several lovers in high positions, the most powerful of whom is even a high-tier gene-empowered individual.]

[Although the Purple Bird Gang bleeds the commoners of the Outer City District dry, 80% of the extorted wealth is funneled back to the Inner City District.]

[You are displeased by this.]

[In a foul mood, you wander through the foot massage parlors and entertainment venues of the Outer City District, only to find that these places, which once so captivated you, have lost their charm.]

[A flicker of panic flashes through you.]

[In half a year, you have transformed from a novice in the art of love into a seasoned veteran. Looking back now, after countless women, you feel only an overwhelming sense of boredom.]

[You finally understand: beautiful bodies are a dime a dozen, but an interesting soul is one in a million.]

[You miss her.]

”Bah!”

”Bah! Bah! Bah!”

”Is that dog really me?”

”I’ve been a decent, clean-living young man for more than ten years, and you’re telling me I’d do something so shameless?”

This time, Chen Pingchuan was genuinely agitated. Even a simulation should follow some kind of logic; it shouldn’t be completely divorced from reality. But ever since his simulated self started using the Seed of Parasite, it was as if he’d become a different person.

”No, that’s not right, that’s not right at all...”

Chen Pingchuan repeated himself, his gaze shifting back to the description of the Seed of Parasite talent. A sudden thought struck him, leaving him stunned.
