226 The Eaglet has Hatched
”Sir, take away?” The seductive waitress gazed at him eagerly, desperately hoping that he would say that he was not taking it away!

”Good job, Chen Fan. I’ve made a mistake!” Wei Jie slowly calmed down, and his sight became malicious. Apparently, he was thoroughly humiliated, but he dared not do a thing.

The UBS grade A customer card was the best evidence for his identity. He had only seen this type of card twice, and on both occasions, they were owned by foreign tycoons. Domestically, he had only heard about such, but had never seen them.

He thought this man, who drove a BMW 740 and was wearing Armani, was no different from the contractors who worked for him — upstarts, who think they are nobles, just because they drive luxury cars!

He never thought he was the ”presumptuous” one, and so now, he felt extremely embarrassed. It is just like when Shen Wansan had visited a farmhouse, and the raggedly-dressed farmer had actually summoned the royal chef by using a fleet horse. The chef then came hastily, kneeled down, and said, ”Your Majesty!”

”Take…take away!” Wei Jie said hesitantly, as he stood up from the chair. Having a realization is one thing, taking away is another. Looking at the luxurious foods before his eyes, Wei Jie admitted that he was unable to throw away these foods like Chen Fan, as if they were mere Chinese cabbages.

Worrying that he would meet Chen Fan after leaving, Wei Jie went to the washroom. He then chit-chatted with a beauty on the phone, asking her out for an extravagant dinner. Only then did he take an exquisite food container and head downstairs.

When he arrived at the dining hall, he looked around and, seeing no acquaintance, he quickly went near the fish tank that contained the Chinese bahabas. He looked at the lazy big creatures and breathed deeply, nonstop.

In 2001, he was lucky to have eaten a Chinese bahaba once, thanks to some tycoon from Tianhai. At that time, all the attendants had locked their attentions on the Chinese bahaba on the dining table, which weighed about 10 kilograms.

A few wealthy men cleared all the side dishes and even drank five bottles of liquor, but nobody tried to touch the Chinese bahaba. Why? Guilty! It felt like cutting Xi Shi’s face with a knife — the mere thought of it would make one sleepless and lose their appetite.

The businessmen were always biased toward the wealthy men that were as rich as them. This was an occupational habit, and Wei Jie could not avoid it either. He had never met the owner of this hotel, but this did not hinder Wei Jie from admiring him. Six Chinese bahabas could not be simply bought, as they are rarer than not only three-legged toads, but also three-legged toads that are as big as a fish tank!

”Hey, aren’t you Boss Wei? Are you having your meal here as well?” When Wei Jie was staring at the fish, a tall and scrawny middle-aged man patted him from behind. He was shocked and almost threw the food container away.

”Ah… Director Ma!” Wei Jie wiped his cold sweat, as he hid the food container away sneakily.

”Haha, why are you so focused on these fish?” Director Ma apparently was not acquainted with these high class goods. He then laughed aloud and said, ”Okay, I am not going to waste Boss Wei’s time anymore. My friends upstairs told me the abalones here are delicious, and I’m going to have a try now!”

...

”Boss, that customer took away his meal and left!” Chen Fan stayed in the large and luxury room on the fourth floor, and after hearing the waitress’ report, he burst out in laughter, so much so that he almost broke the coffee table. After a bit, he finally stopped with a reddened face.

”Sir… if there’s nothing else you need my help with, allow me to go, as I have many other tables to serve…” The seductive waitress was disappointed and scared. She was disappointed, because he had a girlfriend, and the girlfriend was a pretty mixed race lady. She was scared, due to his terrifying laughter, which sounded as if he was going to eat a human alive.

”Go ahead…” Chen Fan waved his hand, signalling her to leave. Showing off was fun. Otherwise, why would so many people like to show off?

”What the f*ck!” Wu Ruoyu rolled her eyes at Chen Fan, while she was arranging the electronic form, just like an infatuated lady sizing up a wasteful bastard. ”Even if these abalones and sea cucumbers were artificially bred, they would have cost a lot, and still you decide to throw them away, just like that? Even Bill Gates’ son would not be such a prodigal!”

”These things are not worth a penny to me!” Chen Fan did not want to talk much about this small issue. He laid down and rested his head on Wu Ruoyu’s slender legs.

”What are you doing?” Chen Fan looked at her, as she was typing fast on the keyboard. The confusing data and forms on the screen made him feel dizzy.

”Year end is near, and I’m responsible to do some statistics on custom duty and submit it to the financial department! ” Wu Ruoyu moved his head away softly, responding while doing the forms. ”How about you? How is your company doing?”

”Me?” Chen Fan asked, while smelling the scent of her hair, intoxicated. ”I have absolutely no talent in managing a company. I have bought a bunch of imported machines and equipment for the shipyard, but we’ve yet to acquire our first big order. Our orders are mostly those asking us to make some small fishing boats weighing around a hundred tons. I’d be lucky if I’m not losing money. Another company of mine has gotten two huge ships for shipping purposes, and I can earn millions of gross profit a month. The few tankers make the most money, and one shipment is able to get me more than what I earned for smuggling machine tools dozens of times back then. ”

”Look at you. The only thing you know is how to rest on your laurels!” Wu Ruoyu tapped his forehead gently, using her slender finger. When she noticed that there was a strand of hair on his shoulder, she carefully removed it.

”It’s not that I’m sitting on my laurels, but that society is too complicated!” Chen Fan put his arm around her slender waist. It was so comfortable, that Chen Fan felt the urge to have her in his arms. No wonder there has been a common saying since ancient times: ”A woman’s tenderness is a hero’s grave.” This woman was so attractive, that men could easily fall for her without realizing it.

”Stop it! I am arranging the documents, and I must submit them to the financial department by tonight!” Wu Ruo Yu’s cheeks turned red, as she glared at him.

”Alright!” Chen Fan agreed, his hands slightly more in place now. However, just slightly, as one of his hands was still not leaving the intimate part of her body.

......

At 5 p.m., Chen Fan arrived at a dock at the beach with a lot of bags, big and small. After putting the stuff into the diving cabin, he rode on the eel to the cave. He had left the old dock aside, and bought the new and bigger steel-structured sealed dock, using his father’s name.

He went to the supermarket in the afternoon to buy a meat mincer, calcium tablets, vitamin, glucose, milk powder and some other miscellaneous stuff. He bought these not because he lacked nutrients, but because the eaglet was going to hatch.

It was easy to predict when an eaglet was going to hatch, as there will be some movements in the egg. Since Chen Fan had noticed such movements last night, he stopped turning the egg over, and patiently waited for the eaglet to hatch.

Chen Fan left all the stuff aside and ran toward the second floor of the spire hastily. He could hear the rustle, even before opening the incubator.

He opened the incubator, and saw that the egg had been pecked at, revealing a hole about the size of a bowl. The reddish and transparent beak was still pecking the egg nonstop.

”You are going to hatch! You little fellow!” He was touched to tears, since his weeks of effort had not been in vain.

Who has ever seen an eaglet egg bigger than a dinosaur egg? Who has ever seen an eagle with an 80-meter wingspan?

This was a great historical moment! Chen Fan thought it was more meaningful than Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landing on the moon in 1969. This made him a man even greater than the greatest scientist Albert Einstein!

Noting that he got carried away by his wild thoughts, Chen Fan took a seat on a small bench, and quietly stayed beside the eaglet egg. Generally, it is best not to artificially help a bird hatch, if it is not absolutely necessary. Otherwise, its initial growth would be affected.

The unhatched eaglet was just like a rock drill, which is never tired — it slowly made an irregular crack on the egg’s rough surface, using its young beak.

”Zok…zok…” After a long two hours, it was finally able to flip the egg shell over. It then showed its bald head, hich was so transparent that the blood, muscles, and skull were almost visible from the outside.

”It is so darn ugly!” This was the eaglet’s first impression to Chen Fan: bald head and two big jelly-shaped eyes, which occupied almost two-third of its size. It couldn’t be uglier. In fact, it was even uglier than Wu Dalang!

Be it a pheasant or a peacock, a bird is the ugliest when it has just hatched from the egg shell. It will begin to look better once its feathers had fully grown in. Chen Fan had learned the knowledge, so he understood the condition. Hence, he knew that he could only wait on it to grow with patience.

”Chu…Chu…” The eaglet, which was even uglier than Wu Dalang, kept chirping intermittently. Its eyes could not open yet, and its claws were moving restlessly, trying to escape from the depressing ”cage” it had stayed in for almost a month.

This pink meatball struggled for 20 minutes in the halved egg shell, and finally got out of it. It laid on the cotton and cried, making an ”Ang Ang” sound.

”Haiz, it seems I have to make a cameo appearance as an eaglet’s mom!” Chen Fan carried the ”little monster”, which was half the height of a human, into the nursery box, after waiting for the fluid on its body to dry.

Fortunately, an eaglet is not like a platypus, which is an oviparous that weirdly has to be breastfed, just like mammals. Normally, an eaglet needs to be fed after 20 hours, upon hatching. Yet, within this period, drinking was still allowed.

Chen Fan adjusted the brightness of the lamp to medium level, and after two hours, he opened the glucose and took out about 10 grams by a scoop, dissolving it in the newly bought plastic basin.

The water was warm, and Chen Fan took a basin of glucose water in front to the eagle, pressing its bald head, directing it toward the basin.

”Chu…chu…” It seemed as if it was blood-related to the stubborn donkeys — no matter how Chen Fan pressed its head, it was not willing to lay its arrogant head down. But, Chen Fan dared not press too hard, lest it be injured. Chen Fan had no choice but to bring the basin near its beak!

”Chu…chu…” After two tentative attempts, this big baby bird drank half of the glucose water, all without moving its head up!

”Hrgg, you are more cunning than Ximen Qing!” Chen Fan almost slapped it dead, out of anger!
