67 You’re My Brother
”You look fine to me... or I can send you to the hospital and take care of all the expenses” Chen Fan was stunned. This handsome looking young lady did not look like a scammer! With her looks and figure, she could do better things than coming up with this.

”Ouch, no, you have to compensate me with money!” The lady in the black suit rubbed her butt in pain. ”Who knows what you’re up to? What if you bring me to a deserted place and get rid of me?”

”But 50,000 RMB?” Chen Fan squatted down and flung his hand. ”I wasn’t driving fast! You’re the one who knocked into my car.”

The girl stumbled and continued lying on the ground with a glum face. ”I’m rushing to meet a client to sign a contract. I’ll be able to get a cut of 50,000 RMB if the contract is signed, but how am I gonna go now? You have to compensate my loss.”

”...Hmm…” Chen Fan held his chin helplessly as he picked up her small white bag at her side. He pressed the bag and did not feel anything special inside other than things like a wallet and a mobile phone. After passing the bag to her, Chen Fan helped her up and sat the uninjured side of her butt on the hood of the car. ”How about you call your client and change the appointment to another day?” Chen Fan naturally did not want to come up with this 50,000 RMB. He estimated that her injury only required an X-ray plus another 500 RMB of medical expenses at the most. Chen Fan decided that he would just run away if this girl gives him unreasonable demands. If she calls the police, Chen Fan would let Wang Bing take the rap and then accuse her of being a scammer.

”Argh...my phone’s out of battery and I can’t even check the number.” The girl held on to her bag and looked bitterly at Chen Fan. ”I’ve arranged to meet the client at Leyi Restaurant at 7PM and it’s already 6.45PM. I had wanted to rush to the roadside to get a cab…”

”How about I send you there?” Chen Fan opened the car door and gestured her to get in. The girl was silent as she stared at Chen Fan while biting her pink lips. She opened her mouth a few times and then finally said, ”I hope you’re not up to anything bad…”

”Sister, you’re my sister!” Chen Fan bared his teeth and rubbed his head. ”Do I look like that type of person?”

”Right!” Chen Fan suddenly thought of something. He took out his phone from the car and said, ”Quick change your card into mine and call that client.”

”Mine...mine is a CDMA card, it can’t be used on your phone…”

”My God…” Chen Fan rolled his eyes. ”Then what are you waiting for? Get into my car now! I’m not gonna compensate you 50,000 RMB if you get delayed.”

”Oh.” The girl staggered over to the passenger seat and got in. Chen Fan started the engine and stepped gently on the accelerator. The girl sat slanted and said anxiously, ”Can you drive faster, there aren’t many people on the road!”

Chen Fan stepped on the accelerator with his right leg as if he was stepping on a nail. ”Wait till I get onto the main road!” Turning into the motor vehicle lane after two hundred meters, Chen Fan slowly increased the speed to 40 KM/H and drove toward the destination.

”Bro, we’ll need one hour to reach it with your current speed.” The girl pouted. ”You’re driving a BMW, not a Kia!”

”It’s the aftermath of being frightened by you just now!” Chen Fan wiped off the imaginary sweat off his forehead.

Twenty minutes later…

”Bro, I’m begging you, can you please drive faster? Don’t tell me you’ve only gotten your license yesterday? Your driving sucks!”

”How about you take over?”

”...I…”

An hour later, which was a few minutes past eight, Chen Fan and the girl finally reached Leyi Restaurant. ”I’m done for, I’m really done for this time! I’m an hour late. The client must have left.” The girl almost cried. ”I don’t care, you have to pay me 50,000 RMB!”

”Well, go up and take a look first. Maybe he’s still there.” Chen gave it a thought and then said, ”If he’s really gone, I’ll pay you 50,000 RMB.” Chen Fan said with pertinence, trying to conceal his craftiness.

”Alright.” The girl opened the car door and had one foot on the ground before suddenly retracting. ”No no. You agreed so readily, you must be thinking of running away after I go up.”

After being exposed of his intentions, Chen Fan’s eyes darted around. ”How...how is this possible?”

”You don’t seem to know how to lie!” The girl threw Chen Fan a fierce stare. ”Come help me take a look. He’s an artist in his forties with a braid at the back of his head. He’s easily recognizable.”

”Erm...well...alright.” Chen Fan pulled out the car key and got out of the car.

Three minutes later, Chen Fan walked down the stairs leisurely with both hands in his pockets. He stood beside the car door and heaved a heavy sigh. ”Umm, I’ve got good news and bad news. Which one first?”

”Neither. I only wanna know if he’s still there!” The girl shook her head hard.

”The good news is, there’s really a man with a braid inside, and the age matches, but…”

”Speak faster!”

Chen Fan did not answer her but asked instead, ”You’re the salesperson for Bolan Gardens, am I right?”

”How...how did you know?”

”I hate to say this, but I heard the artist making a phone call just now, and I overheard something crucial.” Chen Fan sighed, ”The bad news is, he said ’Why isn’t the salesperson named Xia Qianxue here yet? Manager Liu, get me another person’...”

”Ah!” Xia Qianxue was almost breathless. ”You...you...you, you have to pay me 50,000 RMB!”

”You’re making things difficult for me!” Chen Fan said after a moment of silence, ”Actually, you can’t put all the blame on me. First of all, you were the one who was not careful and knocked into my car. And your phone was out of battery, this was also one of the main causes…”

Xia Qianxue bared her teeth and blurted out ”I’m gonna call the police! Umm, can you lend me your phone? My battery’s dead!”

”I’m sorry, but I didn’t pay my phone bill…” Chen Fan gave a helpless expression before going into the car. ”It’s unrealistic for me to pay you 50,000 RMB, but I can send you to the hospital now.”

”Then...then…” Xia Qianxue took out a colorful advertisement booklet and looked at Chen Fan with droopy eyes. ”Why don’t...why don’t you buy an apartment, for yourself, or for keeping...that…”

”Keep what?” Chen Fan didn’t realize what she was referring to.

”...pets…” Xia Qianxue puckered her lips. ”A 150 square meter apartment only costs 600,000 RMB, and we’ll give you an additional free, permanent, basement parking lot.”

”Pets?” Chen Fan mumbled to himself before understanding what she meant.

”Show me the booklet.” Chen Fan took the Bolan Gardens brochure and flipped it open. He indeed had intentions of getting a place. Brand name cars, mansions...these are all items that a successful man must have. He already had a car, but his place was just an ordinary 100 square meter commercial housing type apartment. Although it looked okay for now, it would be unimpressive if he really brought a girl back.

When he called Zhang Xueyang in the afternoon, Zhang Xueyang asked Chen Fan if he had any free time. His father was expanding the business and would like Chen Fan to bring back a few more machine tools. The price was still 1 million RMB for each machine.

Even without the few million that was coming his way, the 6 million RMB in Chen Fan’s bank account was sufficient to let him spend lavishly for a while. Making money was a piece of cake for him anyway.

”How much is this?” Chen Fan flipped to the last page and pointed to a three-story white mansion with a view. ”I’ll buy this if the price is right!”

”Ah!” Xia Qianxue covered her mouth with her small dirty hand, and her eyes were like simmering water. ”Bro, you’re so macho!”

”This villa with a total area of 588 square meters is the top product of our company. It has a 60 square meter garden, two parking lots and a 100 square meter underground storeroom. Even the master bathroom is extra big and luxurious at 50 square meters, complete with sauna and Jacuzzi.”

”I’m asking you, how much is it?”

”5,888,800 RMB!” Xia Qianxue’s eyes lit up. ”Bro, I’ll get a cut of 200,000 RMB if you buy it. I’ll split half of it with you!”
