Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

250: testTime in the Research Institute passed quickly.

Two days later.

Xu Bai and the Research Institute staff gathered around a table.

On the table lay the drone cards they had just finished researching.

In just a few short days, everyone at the Research Institute was utterly impressed with Xu Bai and Fang Mu.

When they finished processing the materials and received the research task from Xu Bai, they thought it would take several months, perhaps even a year, to complete it.

They never expected the two of them to finish it in just three days.

They were incredibly envious; not only was Xu Bai so formidable, but Fang Mu was also incredibly capable. They wondered if there was a method to their rapid research.

Fang Mu felt nothing about this; after all, he had never joined any other Research Institute, always learning alongside Brother Xu.

In his opinion, he was still far behind Brother Xu, and he wondered when he would also be able to create new cardss.

But let’s set that aside for now.

Today, everyone gathered to witness the birth of the drone cards and to test the drone.

Everyone held their breath, watching Xu Bai insert the cards into the cards reader.

Once the drone was read, everyone gathered around to observe.

The drone was cross-shaped overall, with four fan-like blades distributed at the ends of the cross. However, Xu Bai told them these were called rotors, not blades. A characteristic of rotors is that they are thin on one side and thick on the other, which generates lift when rotating, allowing the drone to fly.

Other components, such as the power source, were located in the middle of the drone, and there were also two supporting landing gear underneath.

Its appearance was not like a bird, as Fang Mu had imagined, but more like... an insect?

That’s how Fang Mu felt.

It was a good thing Xu Bai didn’t know about his thought, or he might have coughed up blood... From the description above, it’s clear that the drone Xu Bai and his team made was a quadcopter drone.

Currently, this drone was only a basic version, with nothing else attached.

Today, they only needed to test if the drone could fly; they would not test its attack capabilities.

Xu Bai pressed the takeoff button, and the drone’s four rotors began to spin, then slowly ascended.

Watching the drone fly, everyone immediately cheered.

It flew!

It flew!

It really flew!

The significance of this flight was profoundly different; it was controllable, which represented a crucial step for humanity towards the sky, and it meant that humanity would conquer the sky someday.

The first stage could be confirmed as a success; at the very least, it proved the drone could fly.

However, Xu Bai did not relax his expression but continued the tests.

It’s important to know that a drone isn’t better the higher it flies; it also needs the ability to hover in the air.

The significance of a drone hovering is to “fix its position” in three-dimensional space, enabling precise operations, stable observation, and adaptability to various scenarios.

What Xu Bai currently wanted the drone to do was to be able to attack precisely, so hovering was very necessary.

To make a drone hover, simply put, its lift needs to be equal to its gravity.

In detail, each of the four propellers generates lift, and the resultant force of these lifts needs to be at the center of gravity, while also being an exactly equal and opposite force to gravity.

But it sounds simple. Perhaps some people would think of simply having the four propellers on the same horizontal plane and having them exert the same force, meaning the same rotational speed, so that the resultant force would be in the middle.

However, things are not as simple as imagined; there is still a gap between theory and practice.

Just to solve this problem, Xu Bai spent an entire day. Fortunately, the problem was resolved.

Xu Bai pressed a button, which set a fixed wind speed for the drone.

Indeed, the drone hovered in the air.

This operation once again caused cheers from everyone in the laboratory.

Fang Mu also looked at the drone in front of him with sparkling eyes.

Seeing this, Xu Bai waved him over.

“Brother Xu, is something wrong?”

“You try the next test. The space here is relatively small, so be careful not to make large movements.”

With that, Xu Bai handed the drone remote control, which resembled a game controller, to Fang Mu.

The other Research Institute members looked at Fang Mu with envious eyes; they also wanted to try it but didn’t dare to ask. They would just wait.

Xu Bai had already explained all the functions of this drone remote control to Fang Mu one by one, so Fang Mu knew how to operate it.

Under everyone’s gaze, he slowly moved the joystick of the remote control in his hand.

The drone moved forward, backward, rotated, flipped... in the air, each movement was very clean and precise, without any wobbling.

After completing the basic inspection items, Xu Bai nodded in satisfaction and left. He needed to return to his office to write another application form; the remaining tests would take some time, so he left them to Fang Mu and the others.

Only when Xu Bai’s figure disappeared from their sight did the other research assistants relax.

Their gazes towards the remote control in Fang Mu’s hand also grew more intense.

“Fang... Researcher Fang, can we try it?”

A young research assistant asked.

Actually, when they were chatting and changing their titles during their first meal, Fang Mu said he was young and they could just call him Xiao Fang. Everyone readily agreed and called him Xiao Fang.

Later, during the research, as everyone gradually learned about Fang Mu’s capabilities, the address slowly transitioned from Xiao Fang to Fang Mu. Although the title Xiao Fang seemed more intimate, intimacy isn’t necessarily a good thing in the Research Institute; it’s a place where ability is valued, not relationships.

And today, after the cards was truly successfully researched, they genuinely recognized his ability and believed he deserved to be called Researcher Fang.

Sometimes, the Research Institute can seem very complex; they might smile on the surface but secretly resent you. But sometimes, it’s also very simple: as long as you have ability, you can secure a place in the Research Institute and earn others’ recognition.

In short, ability earns recognition.

Xiao Fang — Fang Mu — Researcher Fang

These steps not only demonstrated Fang Mu’s ability but also Xu Bai’s ability, as Fang Mu was taught by Xu Bai little by little.

Fang Mu had long realized the change in their address towards him, so he didn’t politely ask them to call him Xiao Fang again but nodded as usual.

“Okay, you all can try it too. Once this test is over, we’ll take out the other drones for testing.”

The research assistants all came forward, lining up to play with the drone.
