Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

229: tank?The next day.

“Boom~ Boom~ Boom~”

After a series of sound of gunfire, the mutated beasts in front of the land cruiser were reduced to mincemeat, with no casualties among the personnel inside.

The beast-fighting arena was a mess. They had shot and killed over a dozen mutated beasts, a result that made Julian beam with joy.

Cheers also erupted from the stands, one after another.

At this moment, no one cared about nationality; they simply cheered for the power of this weapon and for humanity having another formidable weapon to deal with mutated beasts.

After all, everyone had suffered from mutated beasts for too long.

Many relatives and friends, even parents and children of those present, had died at the hands of mutated beasts, so their hatred for the beasts temporarily made them forget everything else.

Under these circumstances, if anyone were to stand up and oppose this weapon, they might become an enemy of the majority.

Xu Bai looked at the weapon below and confirmed that this land cruiser was indeed a tank, and a relatively early model at that… “What do you think of this weapon?”

“I think the tank’s offensive power is quite formidable, but it also has some obvious drawbacks.”

“Tank? The bane of flat land, that’s a pretty good abbreviation. What do you think its drawbacks are?” Bai Shan looked at Xu Bai with encouraging eyes, prompting him to continue.

Xu Bai saw that the name he had accidentally blurted out was approved by Bai Shan, and he breathed a sigh of relief.

In this current world, there was no such term as “tank.”

It’s important to know that the name “tank” originated from secrecy; it was a secret weapon developed by Britain, and the military needed to conceal its true purpose to prevent it from being detected by other countries’ intelligence agencies, so they gave it a codename.

Because its exterior was a square, box-like structure, very similar to the common water tanks in British factories, researchers called it ‘water tank’ (Tank), which then translated to “tank.”

In this current world, this weapon was no longer a secret project, so there was no need for another name; theoretically, the term “tank” wouldn’t exist.

However, now that Xu Bai had introduced the term “tank,” the ‘tank’ as the bane of flat land, it felt as if the two worlds had a connection again, and Xu Bai smiled… Since “tank” had already been said, Xu Bai decided to continue calling it that.

“Yes, you can see the soldiers who climbed out of the tank; their clothes are already soaked with sweat, which indicates that the operating environment inside the tank is very harsh. The ventilation inside the tank must be poor, the temperature will be very high, and the noise should also be quite loud, as it’s needed to get this behemoth of a tank moving.”

Mm-hmm, Bai Shan nodded, agreeing with Xu Bai’s statement.

Wu Zijin: “However, on the battlefield, most environments are not very good, so soldiers can still overcome such conditions. This tank is just not suitable for those nobles to use for refuge or escape.”

Hearing Wu Zijin’s words, both adjusted their Telescopes to look at the faces of the nobles on the opposite stand. Indeed, their faces were grim, and some nobles, uninterested in the weapon, were already slowly leaving.

Bai Shan: “In war, who cares about comfort? Staying alive is the best outcome.”

“Harsh environments can be overcome, but inherent flaws are difficult to change. The tank has significant terrain limitations. Although it appears capable of adapting to various terrains, its limitations are quite considerable, as can be seen from its turning and movement speed.”

“Right.” Wu Zijin agreed, “Although the tank’s tracks can handle off-road, if the height is a bit higher, it might get stuck. So, in mountainous areas and high-rise environments, it’s very likely to get stuck.”

Bai Shan: “The tank’s weight must also be quite heavy, making it unsuitable for movement in swamps; it would easily sink in.”

“Right, speaking of weight, getting such a heavy thing to move probably consumes a lot of energy. Their tank seems to consume star energy stones. Why don’t they use coal like steam locomotives?”

“Perhaps the coal conversion efficiency is relatively low.”

The three of them, one after another, listed the tank’s disadvantages.

Bai Shan: “Although the tank has these drawbacks, its advantages are also very obvious, so we should also have Card Makers start researching tank cardss.”

“Mm-hmm, indeed. We also need to have our own tanks that we can produce, or we could specifically research weapons to counter tanks.”

“Weapons to counter tanks?”

“Weapons to counter tanks?”

Bai Shan and Wu Zijin spoke in unison.

“Yes, every weapon must have a way to counter it. The tank is no exception,” Xu Bai said confidently.

“I can already think of several ways to counter this tank right now. The first method is to improve our existing artillery, shorten the cannon barrel, make the gun carriage heavier, and then upgrade the shells so they can penetrate the tank’s armor; the second method is to create anti-tank rifles, develop armor-piercing rounds, and kill the soldiers inside the tank.”

Wu Zijin: “So, it’s mainly about bullets and shells, making them capable of penetrating the tank’s armor.”

“Yes, it’s difficult for us to research large-scale protective shields, but using the material of the protective shields to make bullets and shells, allowing the force to act on a single point, will unleash greater power. Therefore, the probability of successful weapon development is very high.”

Bai Shan quickly gestured to the recorder next to him to write down Xu Bai’s words; these were all very useful pieces of information.

“What other aspects should we research?”

Bai Shan encouraged Xu Bai to continue brainstorming and share more ideas for consideration.

“More ideas would be that the tank has blind spots on top, so it can be attacked from above.”

“Above? Are you referring to flying mutated beasts?”

“No, we can develop flying machines that fire shells from above. I see that the tank’s cannon currently can only rotate 360 degrees and cannot adjust its muzzle upwards, so it cannot attack from above.”

“Flying machines, that’s a bit difficult.”

Difficult, indeed. Developing flying machines was quite challenging, and Xu Bai didn’t have any good ideas for that either.

However, when it came to dealing with tanks, Xu Bai suddenly thought of a very convenient method—that was a divine anti-tank weapon from World War II!

Why hadn’t he thought of it earlier?

He quickly spoke up and told the two people in front of him about this method.

“The easiest method, actually, is very simple. You just need to make Molotov cocktails using glass bottles and kerosene, and then throw them at the ventilation opening on top of the tank. This method also has the lowest cost. What do you two think?”

!!!

This method left Bai Shan and Wu Zijin dumbfounded.

It’s that simple?

Could this new weapon, the tank, be solved so simply?

“Why is that? Is the Molotov cocktail you mentioned really that powerful?”

Wu Zijin was very curious.
