Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

228: peaceful environment”A Land Cruiser! I never imagined the Luo Lan Empire would research such a weapon without anyone knowing!”

Ophelia clenched her hand tightly, her long nails digging into her palm, drawing drops of bright red blood.

Even those nearby who saw it didn’t remind her; her popularity wasn’t particularly good.

Recently, people from the Cronia Duchy had been trying to win over Card Makers from other countries, often offering prices higher than the usual market rate, which had offended many.

So, they all looked at Ophelia with ill-will, believing she was simply angry because she hadn’t managed to recruit any powerful Card Makers.

However, Ophelia paid no mind to this, scanning the people around her with a contemptuous glance before lifting her skirt and turning to leave.

Her previous action wasn’t born of hatred, but excitement.

For her, she was willing to do anything to bring more powerful Card Makers to Cronia.

She was a princess of Cronia, and having enjoyed the benefits that came with being a princess, she should fulfill the obligations of a princess.

Therefore, to bring more powerful Card Makers to Cronia, she was willing to do anything.

The reason she was so desperate for Card Makers was that Cronia might not be able to withstand this Beast Tide.

So, she wanted Card Makers to find a solution; the more powerful the Card Maker, the more likely they were to devise a way to resist the Beast Tide. This matter was known only to members of the royal family, so others didn’t understand why Ophelia was so urgent.

Now she felt there was a better method, so she no longer needed to spend time recruiting Card Makers, which was why she left the ball.

That method was to rely on the Luo Lan Empire, bring back the Land Cruiser weapon, and use it to resist the Beast Tide.

The reason she was leaving now was to immediately send this matter to the king, who would then authorize her to conduct the negotiations, allowing her to approach the king of the Luo Lan Empire.

To survive, what did it matter if they became a vassal state? Xu Bai was unaware of everything the Cronia Duchy was facing, but even if he knew, he didn’t think he could do anything.

He wasn’t a god; he didn’t have the ability to save the world.

Bai Shan: ”Xiao Bai, did you hear the weapon Julian just mentioned?”

Xu Bai nodded; of course he heard it. When he first heard the name ’Land Cruiser’, it felt very familiar, and after hearing the later description, he thought this weapon was very similar to a ’tank’. One should know that tanks are hailed as the kings of land warfare.

However, Xu Bai also knew that this was not the world he was originally from. The current tanks might only be relatively rudimentary, so he wasn’t particularly worried about it.

Perhaps when atomic bombs or hydrogen bombs were developed, Xu Bai might start to worry.

”Don’t you have any thoughts on it?”

”Thoughts? The advantage of this Land Cruiser is its strong defensive performance, mobility, and from the sound of it, relatively versatile firepower.”

Xu Bai summarized the weapon’s functions.

”Mm-hmm, I remember you participated in research on sniper rifles before. So, regarding this weapon, do you think there’s anything that can counter it?”

Xu Bai thought about it and decided that since he hadn’t seen the actual object, it was better not to speculate lightly.

”I still need to see tomorrow’s weapon demonstration. I don’t have too many ideas right now.”

”Indeed, we need more information.”

Bai Shan wasn’t necessarily demanding that Xu Bai come up with a countermeasure; it was just casual conversation.

He would send information about this weapon back to his country after the visit tomorrow. The country would then convene various weapon research experts for discussion.

However, Bai Shan’s feelings about this new weapon were still very complex.

”Sigh, how should I put it? I hope humanity can research powerful weapons to counter the Beasts, but sometimes I also worry: if the threat of the Beasts disappears, where will the cannons of various countries be aimed? Can countries maintain their current state? Peace is hard-won; I hope this peace isn’t broken.”

Xu Bai deeply empathized with this. He also very much hoped that the environment he was in was a peaceful one. Only in a peaceful environment could he stably research what he wanted to research, and the country could vigorously promote modernization and development.

If society were in turmoil, the country would definitely invest most of its resources in military preparations, and at that time, Card Makers would also be tasked with researching weapon cardss!

”When the boat gets to the bridge, it will naturally straighten itself out. We cannot stop our pace of development because of unknown things.”

Bai Shan smiled when he heard Xu Bai’s words.

”I didn’t expect you to be more insightful than I thought. However, even if we encourage development, we can’t fall too far behind.”

Bai Shan’s words seemed to indicate he had made some kind of decision... Meanwhile, in a slum somewhere in the Luo Lan Empire, several people were gathered, discussing a secret.

”Are you sure giving this cards to the Luo Lan Empire is beneficial to us? With this weapon, the Empire’s strength will increase, and it will be even harder for us to overthrow the Empire.”

”Don’t you know the saying, ’Heaven intends to destroy, it first makes mad’?”

The person wearing the black cloak revealed a confident smile.

”We give the Empire one cards, and we can keep two cardss for ourselves. We give the Empire a hundred cardss, and we can keep two hundred cardss for ourselves. While this strengthens the Empire’s power, it mostly strengthens our own power.

At the same time, with this weapon, the Empire will first need to confront the Beasts. Secondly, it might trade it to other countries for other resources. So, in the end, we will have the most of this weapon in our hands.

Also, because of this weapon, the Empire might even become arrogant and offend other countries. Think about it, isn’t this more advantageous for us?”

”Indeed, your idea is truly brilliant! ’Heaven intends to destroy, it first makes mad’—that saying is excellent.”

The people nearby praised his idea one after another.

”You are truly amazing. This is the best weapon we could possibly have. If it weren’t for you, our plan would be indefinitely delayed, and our children would continue to be enslaved by the nobles. God has blessed you, sending you to save us.”

The person in the black cloak accepted all the praise from others.

”Once most of the Beasts are eliminated, we will act. By then, the Empire will be severely weakened, and other countries will be busy dealing with the Beasts and unable to intervene.”

”Alright, we will fully support your plan. To hell with those noble lords!”

”Yes, to hell with those noble lords! I’ve had enough of their oppression!”

”Indeed, I used to think about dying together with the noble lords, but I never expected that now we can see the dawn of victory.”

...Along with these words, everyone raised their cups and clinked them together, celebrating the arrival of the dawn.
