Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

201: New card making methodThe next day, at noon.

It was lunchtime.

Xu Bai was in his room, steadying his breathing.

He intended to make a cards.

The reason this cards Making session made him so nervous was that his approach to cards Making this time incorporated elements different from before.

He wasn’t sure if he would succeed.

Xu Bai rarely had such an experience; his personality had always been on the conservative side, meaning he would often evaluate how confident he was about something, and only when he had 50% or more confidence would he proceed.

That’s why in his previous life, he was always an ordinary person, doing ordinary things and achieving ordinary results.

After all, he wasn’t confident enough to do extraordinary things, nor would he try.

Many times, not trying means never failing, but it also means never achieving a result.

In this world, he had unconsciously grown more confident, willing to try things, knowing that results only come after action... The cards he wanted to make now needed to implement information switching and logical operations, performing arithmetic operations through digital logic circuits.

It also involved various complex control systems, and Xu Bai was considering whether these control methods could be directly linked via spiritual power; while linked by spiritual power, they would have a connection, but the definition of each button would need to be determined separately, though ultimately the concept needed to form a closed loop.

The difficulty lay in how to link and define the buttons using spiritual power.

He felt that first, each component needed to be assigned a command to determine the value when pressed.

Perhaps some people have already guessed it.

Xu Bai wanted to create a Calculator cards.

While a calculator may seem like a small item, making one is quite challenging.

When he tried to make one before, he realized he wasn’t particularly familiar with binary code, and of course, he failed.

But now, through communication with Bai Shan, Xu Bai discovered that it could be made in other ways.

Xu Bai meticulously engraved the buttons on the Calculator, assigning corresponding functions to them, primarily addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and the crucial equals sign for the final calculation.

Sweat continuously dripped from Xu Bai’s forehead, soaking his white shirt.

The electric fan blew, but the wind couldn’t dry him as fast as he was sweating.

Almost there, almost there, just a little longer.

The newly purchased cards Making pen slowly glided across the cards, not because the drawing was difficult, but because the spiritual power input required by Xu Bai was immense.

The advantage of this cards Making pen over the old one was its ability to maintain spiritual power continuity more effectively, preventing easy disconnections; however, using this pen required strong spiritual power, a requirement Xu Bai met perfectly.

Of course, it also had a major drawback: it was expensive.

He bought it for four million, and that was Bai Shan’s friendship price... Five minutes later.

Xu Bai looked as if he had just been pulled out of a river, completely drenched.

But he had no time to clean himself up.

He picked up the newly made cards and inserted it into the cards reader.

A Calculator appeared.

After inserting dry batteries into the back of the Calculator, he pressed a button.

”Reset.”

A familiar voice sounded.

”One plus one equals two, sixteen plus sixteen equals thirty-two...”

After a general test, he found that the Calculator had no problems.

He hadn’t expected it could be made without using that method; this method was Bai Shan’s ’Spiritual Power Linking Method’.

Indeed, he had underestimated others before.

However, the differing circumstances of the two worlds had led to cognitive biases.

In his original world, most information could be obtained online or from libraries, much of it publicly available and free; even if he hadn’t studied certain things, he might have heard of them.

In this world, however, some high-level knowledge was monopolized, requiring contributions to exchange for it; since Xu Bai’s parents were not high-level Card Makers, the knowledge he had learned was only the basic knowledge from the academy, leading him to misjudge the rules of this world.

Now, he felt that the possibility of creating many things had greatly increased.

However, Xu Bai felt his spiritual power, then looked at his sweat-drenched clothes, and sighed again.

He had been too ambitious, thinking he could make it all at once by himself; perhaps it would be better to proceed in steps later.

But this was just making a Calculator; he certainly couldn’t handle more complex things alone later on. He felt he needed more help.

But before seeking help, he should tidy himself up again; otherwise, he would start to smell... After class in the afternoon, Xu Bai went to find Bai Shan again.

”A Calculator? Operations?”

Bai Shan hadn’t expected such a big surprise from Xu Bai, having only taught him his method of cards Making the night before.

Don’t underestimate this small Calculator.

It also represented a new breakthrough in automated, digitized, and scaled information processing.

”Reset, reset, reset, reset, reset...”

Bai Shan unconsciously pressed the Calculator’s buttons.

His mind raced with thoughts.

’Input – Operation – Output.’

This logic was indeed the logic of information retrieval; assigning specific functions to each button was truly an excellent method.

”Teacher Bai, do you plan to make your method public?”

Xu Bai was a little surprised by his question.

After all, from Xu Bai’s perspective, this method was his, and he had merely applied it more flexibly, without any major breakthrough.

”Isn’t this your Spiritual Power Linking Method?”

”You did indeed use my Spiritual Power Linking Method, but there’s more to it; it also contains your own method.”

Bai Shan said, deep in thought.

”I’ve got it! Let’s call your method the ’Definition Method’!”.

”Definition Method?”

”Yes, didn’t you assign a corresponding definition to each button? You should also know that these buttons are different from those on other appliances.

Buttons on other appliances are for controlling the on/off state of circuits and adjusting the machine’s operating status.

However, the buttons on this Calculator combine data input, operation instruction selection, calculation execution, and operation control, and these functions can even work together perfectly. Teacher Bai, you are truly amazing.”

Xu Bai praised Xu Bai unreservedly.

Xu Bai was so flattered he felt like a balloon floating away, but thankfully, he didn’t forget the purpose of his visit.

”Teacher Bai, I came to you because I want to conduct another research project with you.”

”Alright, tell me.”

...No one knew what the two of them discussed that day.
