Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

248: Big drop in temperatureAt noon, the Administrator received Xu Bai’s experiment project application form.

He lowered his head and read it carefully.

He had also seen Xu Bai’s material and knew that he had researched so many cardss in just a few months, so he had great confidence in Xu Bai’s research capabilities.

Therefore, the reason he read it carefully was not out of doubt, but purely out of curiosity.

Yes, that’s right.

It was out of curiosity.

They didn’t know what Xu Bai wanted to research, and in special circumstances, special measures were taken; they had granted Xu Bai special access so he could conduct research at the Research Institute.

So the Administrator only now knew what Xu Bai wanted to research.

Drones?

Seeing this new term, he unconsciously straightened up.

Then, upon reading Xu Bai’s description of the drone, his eyes widened even further.

Flying into the sky.

The only things he knew that could fly into the sky were probably Kongming lanterns, but everyone knew that Kongming lanterns were uncontrollable; you had no idea where they would fly or when they would fall down. However, this drone, from the looks of it, could even be autonomously controlled.

A weapon that could fly into the sky.

The more he thought about it, the more the Administrator yearned for it, eager to see the finished product.

Suddenly, the Administrator looked up.

A moment later, he started to laugh.

He was amused by his own actions; he had just wanted to look up at the sky, but he forgot that he was currently underground, so he couldn’t see the sky.

He never expected Xu Bai’s idea to be so... The Administrator pondered for a moment. Only the four characters ’wildly imaginative’ could describe Xu Bai’s idea.

If this weapon were successfully researched, it would be a milestone; it would be the first aerial weapon in history.

However, this project now only lacked his approval.

After carefully reading the contents of the application form twice, the Administrator signed his name and stamped it, then informed Xu Bai that the application had been approved.

While he was reviewing the application form, Xu Bai had been sitting silently by his side, waiting, without rushing him.

Only after the application was approved did Xu Bai breathe a sigh of relief; it passed on the first try, no need for revisions.

If it were like his university graduation thesis in his previous life, constantly revised, he might have just given up... ”Xiaobai, I have high hopes for you. Just focus on your research. If you have any needs or problems, you can come to me or Old Sun.”

”I know. Then I’ll go back to my research now.”

”Alright, go back.”

Watching Xu Bai leave, the Administrator then burst into hearty laughter.

With such young people in the country, why worry about its prosperity?...

Everyone in the Research Institute was busy, and outside the Research Institute, actions were also underway.

The construction of thermal power generators and human-powered generators was also in full swing.

Regarding human-powered generators, which are public bicycles, their plan was to select several locations for trial operation, rather than directly implementing them on a large scale.

And the people of B Province, with their stronger ability to accept new things, were chosen as one of the pilot locations.

October 17th.

Morning.

The weather turned cold, and people began rummaging through their closets for clothes.

The temperature here didn’t drop slowly; it plummeted like someone falling off a building.

That is to say, everyone was unprepared for this sudden drop in temperature, so the clothes they wore hadn’t been aired out or sunned. When put on, the clothes still emitted a wardrobe smell, some perhaps even the scent of mothballs.

Although the people of B Province were startled by the sudden cold air today, they still had to go to work and school as usual.

On their way to work and school, people noticed many brand-new bicycles placed in various spots along the streets, which were also different from ordinary bicycles.

Its color was a very vibrant bright red, with ’B Province Public Bicycle’ written on it, and a small line of text next to it: ’Sponsored and provided by Thunderbolt Company.’ It was clear at a glance that these were not privately purchased. There was also a relatively large, cylindrical-like part in the middle of the bicycle, which also distinguished these bicycles from others.

Wu Zijin, with Liu Mengyan, Liu Mengyun, and Xu Le, also got up early today. They all lived in Thunderbolt Company’s staff dormitory. They had heard from Li Lan that the public bicycle trial operation was starting today, so they had arranged to go and see the public bicycle parking area today.

They all knew that these were cardss researched by Xu Bai, and they wanted to come and show their support today.

However, after Wu Zijin felt the sudden drop in temperature today, he felt that this promotion might not go too smoothly.

After all, riding a bicycle in cold weather, with the wind whistling into one’s clothes, would make it even colder. So he thought that probably not many people would want to ride a bicycle today.

However, when the four slowly walked to the public bicycle parking area, they were stunned by the scene before them.

The parking area was crowded with people, chattering about something.

Wu Zijin quickly lifted Xu Le, fearing that his small stature might go unnoticed and he would be knocked over.

”Mengyun, hold Xu Le for a moment. I’ll go ahead and see what the problem is.”

Although Liu Mengyun was also startled by the scene, she still reached out and took Xu Le from Wu Zijin’s hands, holding him in her arms, while she and her sister retreated to the side.

After Wu Zijin confirmed their safety, he slowly squeezed into the crowd.

He saw a group of people gathered around an old man wearing a red vest, asking questions.

Auntie, who was already wearing a padded jacket, waved her hand.

”Give me a cards, I want to subscribe for a year.”

The old man was beaming, answering questions while simultaneously taking money with one hand and handing out cardss with the other.

”Alright, the annual fee is 30 yuan. Keep your cards safe; you’ll use it to borrow bicycles.”

After the aunt in the padded jacket received her cards, she went to the other side to choose a public bicycle, then spoke with another old man wearing a red vest.

Because it was too far, Wu Zijin couldn’t hear clearly.

At this time, a young man next to him, wearing a windbreaker, was more cautious and hesitated before speaking.

”Give me... my family has three people, so give us three cardss!”

Although the other party didn’t specify what type of cardss he wanted, the old man didn’t frown impatiently; he patiently asked the other party.

He had beaten over a dozen other old men and women to get this job, and it was because he could write a few characters.

He could write because when he was a child, there was a school next to his home. Although his family was poor and couldn’t afford schooling, he liked it, so he secretly listened outside the school window while herding cattle, and then used branches to write characters on the ground, thus learning this skill.

However, he never used this skill after growing up, and he thought it was useless and would be taken to his grave with him. He never expected it to come in handy now.

So he cherished and loved this job very much.
