Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

249: Heading home”Are they three one-year passes, or one-month, or half-year?”

The young man in the assault jacket, seeing that the other party was quite approachable, boldly started to inquire in detail.

”Three one-month passes. Can they be renewed afterward?”

Hearing this question, the people queuing behind also quieted down, pricking up their ears to listen intently.

”They can be renewed, and you can also upgrade. A one-month pass costs 5 yuan. A half-year pass, which is 6 months, costs 20 yuan. A one-year pass, 12 months, costs 30 yuan.”

After saying this, the old man flipped over the sign in his hand to display it to everyone.

”Everyone can see, on the back of our passes there are small grids. One day passes, and a small grid will be crossed off. We count a month as 31 days; the extra days are a bonus from us. Oh, and there’s a 7-day trial period now. If you find it not good to use within these 7 days, you can come to us for a refund. After 7 days, no refunds will be given. I’m telling you this in advance.”

”Okay, then give me three 6-month passes first. If they’re good, I’ll get one-year passes later.”

”Alright, keep the passes safe. Don’t lose them.”

Collecting money and handing out passes, all in one smooth motion.

The young man in the assault jacket took the three passes and went to the public bicycle parking area to choose a bicycle.

A tall man in a short-sleeved shirt, still behind him, looked over and silently counted the number of public bicycles still parked there. He felt a bit anxious and quickly spoke up.

”There are only seven or eight bikes left. Will there be none left by the time it’s my turn? If there aren’t any, I’d better just walk.”

The old man calmly picked up the walkie-talkie on the table, shook it, and guaranteed him.

”You can rest assured. We have walkie-talkies. As soon as we say a word, the superiors will dispatch available bicycles from nearby. My colleague has already called for bikes to be sent. Thirty public bicycles will be delivered within a minute. If the number of bikes falls below 15, we will continue to call for more. We have plenty of bikes.”

The tall man in the short-sleeved shirt breathed a sigh of relief.

”That’s good, that’s good. I’d rather wait a bit to ride than walk, which is tiring and slow. Buying a bike is too expensive.”

”Exactly, exactly. I’d also rather wait to ride than walk.”

The person queuing behind him echoed the big brother’s words.

The old man looked at the speakers with a smile, and then, as if something suddenly came to his mind.

”Oh, right, everyone, don’t forget, these public bicycles cannot be ridden home. You need to park them at designated locations. You can look for people wearing a red vest like mine, or you can also look at the markings on the ground. Places with a red bicycle drawn on them are where you can park.”

The old man pointed to his red vest, then to the markings on the ground.

”Of course we know that. A bicycle costs six or seven hundred yuan. How could we think the bicycle is ours after spending so little money? But I just want to ask if the wet market I’m going to will have a parking spot? If not, do I have to park far away and then walk?”

Another old woman in a blue and white floral jacket spoke up.

”Don’t worry, we have set up parking spots in crowded places like wet markets, colleges, shopping malls, office buildings, residential buildings, and some villages and towns. More will be added continuously. Generally, the problem you mentioned won’t occur. However, if you go to a remote place, there might not be any, as it’s impossible to set up a parking spot for just one or two people.”

”Yes, yes, yes.”

The surrounding crowd nodded in understanding.

Although bicycles are quite expensive now, many families can still afford them. However, they are not like cabbages that can be bought by the basket. A household often only has one, and this one is usually for the breadwinner of the family. So, many people still don’t have bicycles.

But as long as there is a bike, other family members will learn to ride, so many people in B Province know how to ride bikes, which also provided convenience for the Government to promote public bicycles... Some people were asking the managing old man various questions about public bicycles, and some were talking to strangers next to them, wanting to understand their thoughts.

”Hey, brother, why do you want to ride a bicycle in this cold weather?”

The brother he asked pulled his wrinkled clothes tighter around him.

”No choice, my workplace is too far. Taking a bus is too expensive, and walking is too tiring. Today, I was late because I was looking for clothes, so riding a bicycle can get me to work on time.”

The people queuing nearby heard this reply, looked at him incredulously for a moment, thought about it, and then spoke up to remind him.

”Then this queue isn’t a bigger waste of time? You might still be late. You should hurry to work!”

The brother adjusting his clothes knew the other person was being kind and thanked him.

”Thank you, brother, but I’ve just calculated it. It’ll only take about 5 minutes for my turn, and if I ride a bit faster, it will still be quicker than walking.”

A woman in a coat at the front also turned her head and joined their conversation.

”Indeed, cycling is much faster than walking, and it doesn’t take too much effort. I’ve ridden my dad’s bicycle before.”

Those who weren’t queuing originally, thinking about their own cycling speed, felt that this was indeed the case and joined the queue one after another... ”Brother, why are you buying two passes? You can just use one for yourself; you don’t need to buy one for me.”

Hearing his younger brother say this, the older brother replied in a low voice.

Even though he lowered his voice, because they were right next to Wu Zijin, Wu Zijin heard it, and heard it very clearly.

”Little brother, I’ve thought of a way to make money. We can deliver food for others. Think about it, some people don’t have time to eat lunch, right? We can ride bicycles to deliver food to others later and earn a delivery fee.”

Hearing this, the younger brother, who had just been feeling bad about the money, suddenly didn’t feel bad anymore. If he worked hard, he might even earn more money.

Wu Zijin only saw the people queuing next to them nod slightly.

Well, they had also heard the two brothers’ ’whispers’.

This incident also taught Wu Zijin that one should never whisper in a crowd... In short.

Wu Zijin learned from these conversations why everyone wanted to ride public bicycles.

He had originally thought that many people wouldn’t want to ride bikes because of the cold weather, but he hadn’t expected the weather to turn cold so quickly, and everyone was late in finding clothes, so they all wanted to ride bicycles to be faster.

One can only say that things have two sides.

After knowing the beginning and end of the matter, Wu Zijin silently retreated from the crowd and then told the other three the reason why these public bicycles were so popular.

Since they knew that public bicycles were very popular, they decided not to join the excitement and returned home.
