Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

241: WelfareThe conversation didn’t end until noon.

However, Li Lan certainly wouldn’t let everyone go hungry. He had already arranged lunch with his assistant, stating that if they hadn’t arrived by 12:10, the food should be delivered.

So, at noon, a knock sounded. The assistant opened the door, exchanged a few words with the person outside, then came in and whispered to Li Lan that the food was ready.

Li Lan heard this and told Xu Bai, who nodded.

For Xu Bai, work was work, but eating was essential. How could one work without a healthy body?

Seeing Xu Bai nod, Li Lan stood up and said to everyone, ”It’s already noon, and I’m sure everyone’s hungry. Let’s have lunch first, then continue our discussion afterward.”

Hearing this, everyone felt the hunger in their stomachs and nodded in agreement.

Mr. Number Three also spoke, ”Okay, then let’s eat first. I heard your company even has an employee cafeteria. Should we go there now?”

Li Lan: ”No need, no need. I’ve already arranged for them to deliver it directly.”

With that, Li Lan opened the door, went out to confirm, and quickly returned. Accompanying him were the cafeteria staff delivering the food.

The food delivery personnel entered in a steady stream, and in a moment, the table was filled with dishes.

Everyone looked at the dishes on the table and nodded repeatedly.

While the food was being served, everyone also discussed Thunderbolt Company’s employee cafeteria and dormitories.

One must know, this was the first time a company had provided such employee benefits.

In fact, in most people’s eyes, this was unnecessary. The company had already paid its employees salaries; it was an employment relationship. Why should they manage employees’ food and accommodation? Furthermore, providing an employee cafeteria and dormitories would incur a large expense, using company money, which would spoil the employees.

They knew that a little kindness could be repaid, but too much could breed resentment, and employees might even demand more later.

Qian Yongfu felt this was not a good thing, but his relationship with Xu Bai was poor before, making it difficult to speak up. Now, however, he could mention it and give him a heads-up.

Qian Yongfu: ”You are too good to your employees. Besides the Government, you are the first company to set up an employee cafeteria and dormitories.”

Someone nodded in agreement, ”Our Government cafeteria’s food isn’t this good.”

At this moment, Li Yue spoke up to explain.

”Not all employees can eat these dishes. Each employee has a different monthly quota, and if they want more, they still need to pay.

At the same time, employee dormitories also require an application. The housing is essentially rented to them, but the rent is slightly less than outside, and we do not sell the properties.”

Hearing that there were still some restrictions, Qian Yongfu nodded.

”That’s still very good, but what are the benefits of providing these to employees? Why do we even need to manage their food and accommodation?”

Li Lan also saw that the other party’s reminder was well-intentioned, so he explained some of the benefits.

”Having an employee cafeteria and dormitories can also boost employee morale.

Only employees who perform well will receive more benefits. To obtain these benefits, employees work with full effort.

At the same time, these benefits also save employees time spent looking for restaurants and waiting in line. Being well-fed and well-rested allows them to work with more energy, and communication between employees is also more convenient, making employees feel a stronger sense of identification with the company.

Of course, to avoid ungratefulness, we have also placed some restrictions on employee benefits and do not give them everything they ask for. After all, we are a company and need to make money, not a welfare institution.

Of course, we also make mistakes. Previously, some employees brought their family members to eat, and in the future, we will continuously improve our rules and regulations. Without rules, nothing can be accomplished.”

Mr. Number Three raised an eyebrow.

”What you’re doing is excellent. Everything needs to be tried. Just like how we are developing this electric power now, we are crossing the river by feeling the stones. We should all learn from you.”

Xu Bai, of course, smiled modestly, without any complacency.

Qian Yongfu seemed to be swayed by Li Lan’s words and stated that they would learn from Thunderbolt Company.

Once the dishes were arranged, Mr. Number Three picked up his chopsticks and began to eat. Seeing this, everyone else also picked up their chopsticks and started eating.

The tender braised pork, fresh large shrimp, crispy yet tender Squirrel Mandarin Fish, nutritious Black Chicken Soup... Although not particularly expensive ingredients, they were full of color, aroma, and flavor, earning continuous praise from everyone.

After the food was cleared away, everyone resumed discussing serious matters... After the main points of the discussion concluded, the others left one by one, while Mr. Number Three expressed a desire to speak with Xu Bai alone.

Xu Bai led Mr. Number Three to another conference room. He had a slight suspicion about this but wasn’t entirely sure.

Xu Bai thought that the other party was looking for him probably because of the Luo Lan Empire’s new weapons, as he had offered many suggestions last time.

Mr. Number Three: ”Mr. Bai, I’ve recently seen your assessment of the tank cards. We also showed the proposals you previously put forward to other weapon research experts, and they found them highly feasible. We have already arranged for people to research them. I wonder if you are interested in joining?

Also, you know that this year’s Beast Tide will arrive on December 18th, so we need to start preparing for the arrival of the Beast Tide.”

Xu Bai patiently waited for him to finish, then expressed his own thoughts.

”I am somewhat interested in weapon research, but I personally have a research direction I’d like to pursue. I wonder if you would support it?”

Weapons are a man’s romance; who doesn’t want weapons?

However, the reason Xu Bai spoke so clearly last time was partly to show them his insights into weapons, and partly because he didn’t want to continue researching the weapons he had proposed.

Because he had ideas for making other weapons in his mind.

”Could you roughly tell us what kind of weapon you’re thinking of making?”

Mr. Number Three did not immediately refuse but wanted to hear what Xu Bai was thinking.

”Currently, most of our weapons are guns and cannons, right?”

After Mr. Number Three nodded, Xu Bai continued.

”Whether it’s guns or cannons, our attacks on the beasts seem to be conducted like a siege defense.

The tank is a weapon that integrates guns, cannons, and defense. Overall, it’s quite powerful. A significant reason why everyone considers it powerful is its ability to break through the beasts’ encirclement head-on.

So, I think we also need a breakthrough.”

”A breakthrough? From where?”

Xu Bai smiled and pointed to the sky.

Their gazes met, and they saw a spark in each other’s eyes.
