Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

194: How did you get here? The next day, Liu Mengyan arrived.

Liu Mengyan wore a high-waisted black long dress adorned with silver-white butterflies, and the light chiffon fabric of the dress made her appear even more ethereal.

The reason she came was that the other two were busy.

There was no other way; Wu Zijin and Liu Mengyun were at a critical point in their generator experiment and couldn’t come. Liu Mengyan had just finished one of her own experimental processes and was waiting for the results of the other two.

After she was free, she was sent to Xu Bai to solve the problems they encountered in their experiment.

So, she was coming anyway; Xu Bai’s letter asking for someone happened to coincide perfectly, one side wanting to come, the other wanting someone to come.

Xu Bai was still very surprised to see her at the training camp the next day.

There were no airplanes now, so how did she get here so quickly?

“How did you get here?”

Hearing Xu Bai’s greeting, Liu Mengyan was stunned.

How else could she have come? Of course, by steam locomotive. Also, don’t you want me to come? Didn’t your letter say whoever was free could come?

“Uh, don’t you want me to come?”

Hearing the aggrieved tone in her voice, Xu Bai realized that she might have misunderstood.

“I only sent the letter yesterday, and I didn’t expect you to arrive this morning. What mode of transport allowed you to come so quickly?”

Liu Mengyan realized she had misunderstood and chuckled lightly.

“I received your letter after I arrived.”

“Is there a problem at the institute?”

Liu Mengyan quickly waved her hand.

“There’s no problem at the institute. It’s just that we encountered some issues in our research on the thermal power generator cards, and we wanted to ask you about it.”

Xu Bai nodded, and the two walked into Xu Bai’s office while talking.

After they sat down, they began to discuss it in detail.

“What parts do you think you don’t understand?”

“I understand the principle of power generation, but thermal power generators are very different from wind and hydropower in one aspect: they require coal combustion.

When coal burns, incomplete combustion and powder blockage are inevitable.

At the same time, could you elaborate on the conversion of thermal energy into electrical energy? I’ve been wondering how fire drives the generator fan.”

When Xu Bai heard the last sentence Liu Mengyan said, he finally understood what she was confused about.

“Oh, do you know about steam locomotives?”

“Yes, they were made by Card Makers from the Luo Lan Empire. But unfortunately, we don’t have permission to access that information and don’t know the specific operating principle.”

“So that’s how it is. The steam in a steam locomotive is the key; steam drives the train forward.

My idea is this: the purpose of burning coal is to boil the water in the boiler, and this water will become high-temperature, high-pressure steam.

Then, this high-temperature, high-pressure steam impacts the turbine blades, pushing them to rotate and generate mechanical energy. You should know the rest: like a wind power generator, this mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy.”

Liu Mengyan suddenly understood.

“Oh, I see. I always thought thermal power generators generated electricity directly with fire; I was misled by the name.”

“As for coal combustion, you can grind the coal into fine powder so it can burn completely.

Oh, I also need to mention environmental protection. You can set up a dust collection device to prevent ash from flying everywhere. I’ll write this part down in more detail for you.”

“Good, good, good.” Liu Mengyan nodded repeatedly, looking at Xu Bai with admiration.

She hadn’t expected the problem that had troubled them for several days to be solved by Xu Bai in a few seconds.

After resolving the institute’s matters, Xu Bai told her about the training camp… In the afternoon, after everyone had arrived.

Everyone gathered in the conference room and signed the contract under the witness of Government officials.

Through discussion, it was determined that for the results of the photosensitive material found by this experimental institute, Ai Xunyan’s side would take 70%, as they were the material providers and would also participate in the experiment.

Bai Xiaobai’s side would take 20%, because the main experimental plan was designed by Bai Xiaobai, and subsequent material application would rely on Bai Xiaobai’s side.

Then the Government side would take 10%, as they provided the trainees for miscellaneous tasks.

Of course, there were additional clauses: if the materials were provided by the Government, the Government would take 60%, and the other two parties would each take 20%.

However, Bai Xiaobai’s side did not have Strange Beast (exotic beasts) or plant materials, so they were not involved in material provision.

After the contract was signed, Xu Bai then explained the key experimental points and content for the subsequent experiments.

At the same time, everyone also learned the purpose of Xu Bai’s desire to create photosensitive materials.

The purpose was to record and preserve images, or as Teacher Bai put it, ‘photography.’

Initially, when Xu Bai spoke, some thought he was conducting a cult experiment, misunderstanding and believing that after taking a photo, people would be sealed inside the picture.

Later, after listening to Xu Bai’s explanation, they understood that it was not a real object, but merely an image.

At the same time, Xu Bai also made a grand gesture, stating that once it was made, he would give everyone involved in the research a camera cards.

When the trainees heard the benefits mentioned by Teacher Bai, everyone was invigorated, eager to roll up their sleeves and start the experiment immediately.

Other teachers who heard the news also offered to help, stating they didn’t need any other compensation, only a camera cards.

Thus, they gained several free senior researchers.

These teachers simply wanted to join the excitement and were also very interested in the camera.

The experiment quickly began, and Xu Bai also revealed to Ai Xunyan that this was to make a birthday gift for his younger brother.

Ai Xunyan didn’t say anything, but she did urge everyone to speed up the experimental process.

The experimental research went very smoothly; not all materials had been tested, but after testing a portion, three usable photosensitive materials had already been found.

Xu Bai quickly used these three materials to test if the camera could be used, while others continued the experiment to find other photosensitive materials.

Xu Bai planned to first create a functional camera for taking pictures, and then optimize and upgrade it… The camera consisted of 6 components: a lens, a dark box body, a photosensitive plate, a shutter device, a focusing mechanism, and a viewfinder.

The lens was composed of a single concave lens, and the other components were even simpler. Xu Bai had no difficulty making these, and the difficult part, the photosensitive plate, had already been found and could be replaced with plant materials.

In fact, early cameras, from how to make images visible to how to make images permanent, underwent hundreds of years of technical verification.

However, when someone reverses the process from back to front, they can skip these hundreds of years of technical verification and directly create a practical camera.
