Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

150: Qian familyAfter finishing the short-term arrangements, Xu Bai thought for a moment and decided he still needed to inform them about the future research direction of the institute’s main research projects.

After all, the reason they joined his institute, the research of new energy, accounted for a large proportion.

This was actually very similar to how bosses in his previous life would draw a large ’pie’ for their employees.

However, the ’pie’ Xu Bai drew had a high probability of being eaten by everyone, whereas the ’pie’ drawn by bosses in his previous life might not even be tasted by the time you resigned or the company closed down.

”I know you all joined because of electrical energy, so what I’m about to say is very important. Next, regarding the research on subsequent batteries, we will proceed in three steps.”

”The first step is to continue optimizing our existing zinc-manganese Dry Battery Card.”

”The second step is to find new materials that can be used to make dry batteries, research them, and create other cards.”

”The third step is to create generators, which will reduce the consumption of star energy stone in the future, allowing us to convert other forms of energy into electrical energy.”

”Good!” ”Good!” ”Good!”

All three were highly enthusiastic.

After all, electrical energy was precisely the project they were currently very interested in and eager to research... B Province.

In an ancient, quaint mansion, birds chirped happily, occasionally flitting cheerfully from one tree to another, as if visiting each other.

However, the person in the room was not in the mood to admire the scenery outside; he could not be happy.

Qian Maocai looked at the cards in his hand, lost in thought.

New energy... electrical energy... Bai Xiaobai... Although he had always known that relying solely on Coal Card was not enough, and had always known that the Government encouraged Card Maker to develop new energy cards.

But!

But, he hadn’t expected it to be so fast; perhaps no one had expected it to be this fast. After all, Coal Card was a stable resource cards that had taken decades of research to develop.

They had thought that the next stable and promising energy cards would take another few decades to appear.

Only a year and a half had passed.

Just a year and a half!

However, through the Government’s current actions, he could see that most farsighted and knowledgeable people could tell that the Government was very optimistic about this new electrical energy.

He had already received messages from several partners wanting to reduce their procurement orders for Coal Card.

Alas, this was precisely the stage of vigorous development for the Qian Family. Thinking that the family’s development would suddenly stagnate due to this electrical energy, Qian Maocai furrowed his brows.

The Qian Family had relied on Coal Card for over fifty years. Previously, it was managed by his father; he had only become the Qian Family Head last year.

Yet this year, new energy was entering the market to compete with them. The Qian Family’s development would certainly be restricted because of this. The elders would not think it was any other problem; they would only say that he, as the Family Head, was not good enough.

He had waited over twenty years to become the Family Head and did not want to be unceremoniously ousted.

Next to him, his elder brother and third younger brother were still covetously eyeing the position of Family Head.

So what should he do?

Qian Maocai felt he had to do something, or his position as Family Head would not be secure. He did not want to sit idly by.

However, Qian Maocai was not foolish. He knew that the country was certainly protecting the creator of the Dry Battery Card, and he also knew that this Dry Battery Card must have been learned by the Card Maker on the Government’s side; otherwise, how could it be distributed nationwide so quickly?

This also meant that the production and sale of this Dry Battery Card were controlled by the Government. He could not get involved, and the Government would not allow the Qian Family to interfere.

Therefore, he felt he could approach it from other angles.

Currently, he had only thought of two aspects.

One was to openly contend for the allocation of star energy stone resources. He believed that electrical energy had not yet fully developed, and coal would not be easily eliminated for a while, so he could still compete.

The second was to consider preventing electrical energy from developing... The current situation was like this:

In a family, there was initially an elder child. Although the parents always said they wanted a second child, the elder child thought the second child would only come when he was older. He didn’t expect the second child to appear so quickly.

With the appearance of the second child, things originally given to the elder child needed to be shared with the second child. At the same time, because the second child was still young, the parents would also show more favoritism towards the second child.

Then, this elder child’s heart became unbalanced, wanting to compete for family property and parental favoritism... Qian Maocai quietly pondered alone in this silent, spacious study.

He thought about the breakthrough point for his problem.

Institute, institute members.

He picked up the letters beside him again, flipping through them one by one.

He wanted to see if there was anything he had overlooked.

The light grew dimmer and dimmer, and he switched on the recently purchased electric lamp.

Seeing the bright light emitted by the electric lamp, Qian Maocai compared it to the kerosene lamps he used before and felt that this electric lamp was brighter and more convenient, but his expression grew even fouler.

His gaze returned to the letter, searching for the information he wanted to find.

Got it, the Liu Family!

He remembered that the Liu Family also had a partnership with the Qian Family.

Thinking of this, he curved his lips... In the evening, everyone from the Qian Family who was home gathered in the dining room for dinner.

The dining room was quiet, with no one speaking, only occasional faint clinking of bowls and chopsticks and the footsteps of servants bringing dishes.

The Qian Family had developed into a very large family and had not separated, with most Qian Family members living in the old mansion.

Old Master Qian had three sons, six grandsons, and five granddaughters.

Today was a holiday from the academy, and everyone was present, so the dining room was quite full tonight.

However, the Qian Family had very strict household rules.

No talking during meals, no talking during sleep.

So, people generally ate in silence.

The reason for this was that when Old Master Qian was young, the Qian Family had not yet developed to its current scale; it was just starting. At that time, they were constantly called parvenus by others.

Because of this, Old Master Qian paid extra attention to the family education and etiquette of his descendants.

In his opinion, the Qian Family could be called parvenus for a while, but not forever.

Look now, would anyone still call the Qian Family parvenus?... The Qian Family members quietly finished dinner. After Old Master Qian put down his chopsticks, the others excused themselves and left the dining room.

”Maocai, come with me.”

After speaking, Old Master Qian leaned on his cane and walked towards his study.

Qian Maocai heard Old Master Qian call his name, paused the foot he was about to step forward with, and then followed Old Master Qian to his study.

The expressions of the others varied.

Among them, some guessed why Old Master Qian wanted to talk to Qian Maocai in the study.

But there were also some whose faces were blank, not guessing why.

However, whether they guessed or not, they remained silent.
