Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

114: Squad MatchesThe Poisonous Swamp Exotic Beast Zone is a large exotic beast zone located in the southern part of the Tianlong Republic.

It is relatively close to Province B, so some army missions and competitions are still held here.

In this place, the most dangerous things are, of course, the exotic beasts, but besides them, there are other dangers to be aware of.

One is environmental issues; the swamp often looks foggy, which is mist. However, in summer, the mist is sometimes not mist but marsh gas, which can easily cause poisoning.

Because this swamp is very large, containing both peat swamps and gley swamps, the mist in some areas is not very harmful.

However, the mist above the mud swamps contains gases produced by plant decomposition. These places are relatively gloomy and lifeless, and the dangers within are greater, so humans generally do not choose to venture into such areas.

Another danger is plants; some plants that have grown in this environment for a long time have undergone mutations, and their toxins are quite strong. Some plants that are medicinal herbs elsewhere are deadly poisons here.

To cope with these two dangers, one needs to bring extra items to purify the air breathed in, and clothes must completely cover the body to avoid being cut by plants.

Therefore, people entering the Poisonous Swamp Exotic Beast Zone carry over ten catties of essential supplies, which demands a lot of physical strength... Today was the day for the two team competitions.

One team was a 10-person sniper squad led by Feng Bao, chosen by Liu Tianshi; the other team was a 10-person standard combat team with excellent teamwork, chosen by Ye Yizhong.

The final result was judged by the amount of star energy stone they brought back.

Everyone put on their gear, General Liu reiterated the competition requirements, and then announced the start of the competition.

Everyone was fully armed from head to toe. Fortunately, they had all been tempered and strengthened, capable of bearing much more weight than ordinary people, so the current weight was a piece of cake for them, allowing them to move freely.

The land on the outskirts of the exotic beast zone was still relatively open. Many people had passed through this area, so there wasn’t too much danger.

Actually, despite being called a sniper squad, they weren’t foolish and had still chosen three members who were good at close combat.

After all, even if they hit a target, someone still needed to go and retrieve the star energy stone from the exotic beast’s head, in case they encountered a high-level exotic beast.

Liu Tianshi’s goal was merely to illustrate the importance of training snipers, not to suggest that snipers were invincible.

Feng Bao led the group to a crossroads.

“We’ll split into three teams: I, Wang Jian, and Sun Yanwu in one team; Li Tianchuan, Quan Yunqing, and Zhang Chao in another; and Ding Fei, Ding Hu, Yu Xinshu, and Qu Chen in the last team.

Remember what I said before: as a sniper, not being discovered is a prerequisite. Find a good ambush point, and also find your escape route. Don’t shoot from one place for too long; remember to change positions.

If you encounter a pack of flying exotic beasts, it’s best to shoot once and move. You should know their eyes aren’t for show.

Also, Sun Yanwu, Zhang Chao, and Qu Chen, the three of you, remember to use the Telescope to observe beforehand. Only go up to collect the star energy stone after confirming it’s safe.”

Everyone:

“Yes.”

After responding, the three teams departed in different directions.

Based on his memory, Feng Bao led Wang Jian up to the hillside and set up his rifle in a secluded spot.

Meanwhile, another team member, Sun Yanwu, hid in their agreed-upon location.

Feng Bao and Wang Jian adjusted their breathing and observed the previously designated area.

Targets on the land beside the swamp were actually quite easy to aim at because the forest area wasn’t particularly large, with no obstructions, allowing them to clearly see targets from the mountain.

Perhaps their luck was exceptionally good, for within two minutes, they spotted their target, the Giant-Toothed Beast, appearing.

Two larger Giant-Toothed Beasts, accompanied by a smaller one, quietly emerged from the bushes.

The level of the Giant-Toothed Beasts could be determined by the horns on their heads.

The two larger Giant-Toothed Beasts were both Level 5, while the smaller one was only Level 1.

Feng Bao and Wang Jian’s targets were, of course, the two larger Level 5 Giant-Toothed Beasts. The smaller one was only a Level 1 exotic beast, not worthy of their sniping, and sniping it would only waste bullets.

The two aimed at their respective targets and exchanged glances.

Counting silently:

3,

2,

1,

“Bang!”

Both pulled their triggers simultaneously, and the two suppressed gunshots overlapped, making it sound like only one shot.

This movement did not attract the attention of any creatures.

In the distance, two Giant-Toothed Beasts crashed to the ground, having been shot in vital areas.

The small Giant-Toothed Beast scurried around frantically beside the bodies of the large Giant-Toothed Beasts, startled.

Sun Yanwu was extremely surprised.

He hadn’t expected them to be so powerful; they usually couldn’t guarantee such an effect even with guns.

Seeing the fallen Giant-Toothed Beasts ahead, Sun Yanwu didn’t rush forward. Instead, he picked up his Telescope and looked around, only advancing to collect the star energy stone after confirming there was no danger.

Immediately after, he moved to another hiding spot.

In this way, two exotic beasts that previously required a team of twenty to thirty people to hunt together could now be shot down with just two bullets, without attracting the attention of nearby exotic beasts.

This test, just as they had anticipated yesterday, greatly boosted their confidence.

After continuously killing seven or eight Giant-Toothed Beasts like this, they moved to another location to continue sniping... At noon, Ding Fei’s team gathered to eat lunch and rest.

The team had a good harvest in the morning. Ding Fei counted the star energy stone in the bag.

“This morning, we harvested a total of 24 Level 5 star energy stones and 46 Level 4 star energy stones. These are from our sniping.

There are 128 Level 1 star energy stones, 24 Level 2 star energy stones, and 14 Level 3 star energy stones. These were directly killed by Qu Chen.”

Hearing Ding Fei’s words, the other three were also very surprised.

“I didn’t expect the effect to be so good. Brother Qu, you’re awesome; you directly killed so many.”

Ding Hu gave Qu Chen a thumbs-up.

“Not at all, you guys are also very impressive, able to shoot from so far away. I couldn’t do that.

It’s also because you shot down the high-level exotic beasts that I was able to show my skills and kill the low-level exotic beasts.

I wouldn’t be able to stop high-level exotic beasts.”

Qu Chen smiled and also gave the others a thumbs-up.

“Alright, let’s stop complimenting each other. It really feels like weapons are too important. It’s very necessary for General Liu to allocate a portion of the military budget for research.”

Yu Xinshu expressed his opinion.

“Yeah, yeah, before we were just supporting players, but now we’re the main force.”

Ding Hu said, revealing a simple, goofy smile.
