Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

105: Research scope“It’s fine, Little Xu. Not all projects are completed immediately. If you have any ideas, you can tell us directly. If it’s feasible, go for it. It’s just a bit of time, and we can afford to wait.

Many research projects require enduring loneliness and taking time; they cannot be rushed,” Sun Puge encouraged Xu Bai. This young man was too cautious, unwilling to speak unless he was certain it was feasible.

Unlike the researchers under him, who would submit reports for things that hadn’t even materialized, just to see if they could get funding, and then think about how to conduct experiments once the funding came through.

There was a period when he spent all his time just reading application reports. After he lost his temper once, this phenomenon subsided.

However, there were always some people who, with a lucky mentality, wanted to test the waters, which gave him a huge headache… “I’m thinking of creating a sniper rifle specifically for ultra-long-range shooting.”

Xu Bai stated his idea.

From ancient times to the present, on battlefields, humans have always pursued the ability to strike targets accurately from a distance, and this is true in both worlds.

In his original world, it wasn’t until the early 20th century that truly practical optical scopes were born, making their debut in World War I.

At that time, mass production was not yet possible, but all countries tried their best to equip snipers with these scopes to enhance their lethality on the battlefield.

During World War II, sniping became even more widely used.

In this world, although humans fight against ferocious beasts, the principle is the same: why engage in close combat when you can kill it from a distance?

The probability of injury and death in close combat is higher, though of course, some people do enjoy close combat, but they are a minority.

After all, coolness is temporary, but life is only once.

“A sniper rifle?” “A sniper rifle?”

Liu Tianshi and Sun Puge looked at Xu Bai in surprise. It was the first time they had heard the term “sniper rifle.”

However, the meaning was still very easy to understand.

Ultra-long-range.

Liu Tianshi felt this was a very good idea.

Just thinking about being able to kill ferocious beasts from a thousand li away made him a little excited.

“Yes, a sniper rifle, specifically designed for ultra-long-range, precise shooting and hitting ferocious beasts.

If we want to achieve this goal, we need to design a more refined and complex scope.

Because if the scope is more refined and complex, we will be able to see greater distances. Then, at distances of 5,000 meters, 8,000 meters, or even 10,000 meters, we will be able to observe directly and then carry out precise shooting.

Of course, to shoot at long-range targets, the barrel design also needs to change to reduce vibrations and deformation during shooting.

This will depend on you, Elder Sun.

Naturally, this sniper rifle will also require soldiers to undergo extensive training and selection, as it’s not suitable for most soldiers.

You know, when learning the same thing, some people just learn it well, while others don’t. We can’t expect everyone to be the same.

If you think it’s not feasible, then forget about this, and then…”

Before Xu Bai could finish speaking, Liu Tianshi quickly interrupted him.

“How can we forget about it? What are you talking about? How could we not need something that can shoot targets from such a long distance?

We know what you mean, just like among soldiers, some can become ’Soldier Kings.’

Among our current shooting soldiers, some can hit targets at 1,000 meters but not at 3,000 meters, while others can still hit at 3,000 meters.

Actually, if you think about it, soldiers who can currently shoot long distances with the naked eye will be able to shoot even further with a scope. So, those soldiers who can already hit targets at 3,000 meters are actually very suitable for using the sniper rifle you mentioned.

Furthermore, being able to kill from such a long distance means our soldiers can safely escape after the kill, and the threat from flying ferocious beasts will be greatly reduced.

During a ferocious beast tide, we could even kill those high-level ferocious beasts hiding in the back.

Just thinking about it makes my heart pound a little.

Little Xu, I’m counting on you.”

Liu Tianshi rubbed his hands, feeling a little impatient.

“That’s true. Then let’s give it a try.” Xu Bai nodded in agreement.

“I also have no problem with it; it’s worth a try.” Sun Puge also approved of the project.

These soldiers already possess vision beyond that of ordinary people, so with this weapon, it would be like adding wings to a tiger.

“Alright, then we’ll first design a basic scope based on the soldiers’ conditions.”

“Okay. Then I’ll research the design of the sniper rifle barrel you mentioned, to enable ultra-long-range shooting.”

Sun Puge nodded.

Liu Tianshi, being the general here, didn’t always have time, so he arranged for the team leader instructor to take Xu Bai to talk to the shooting soldiers.

“Hello, Mr. Xu Bai, I am Lu Shize, the team leader instructor of the 380th company.”

“Hello, Instructor Lu. May I ask who is the best shooter in the company?”

“Alright…”

Everyone had their own tasks and got busy… “Bang.” “Bang.” “Bang.” … Several shots were fired continuously.

“How is it, Brother Lu? How are the results?”

Xu Bai asked, wanting to know the outcome of the recent shooting.

Although all three of them were looking into the distance with the same Telescope, Xu Bai’s eyesight wasn’t good enough to see that far.

So he could only pitifully ask the person next to him for the results.

“All hit the target. It just lacks a bit of practice now. After practicing for a while, more will hit the bullseye.”

Lu Shize replied to Xu Bai.

After some time spent together, the two had already become sworn brothers.

“Baby, is it easy to use? Try disassembling and reassembling it. Is it stable?” Xu Bai asked the user for feedback.

As an excellent product, it certainly needs continuous optimization.

You should know that with a gun scope, bigger isn’t always better, and higher magnification isn’t always better either.

First, light transmittance and clarity must definitely be guaranteed.

Secondly, the purpose of the firearm still needs to be considered.

For example, in close-quarters combat, there’s no need to see too far, so the scope’s magnification should be lower. However, it also has other requirements, such as ensuring a wide field of view to quickly acquire targets.

For long-range combat, on the other hand, it’s necessary to consider magnifying target details for precise aiming.

The above are all basic performance aspects.

The core functions depend on assisting precise aiming and trajectory correction.

The design of the reticle inside gave Xu Bai a bit of a headache.

Fortunately, in his previous life, there were various games about guns, and the details within them were very comprehensive. He also traveled to Country E once and fired real guns, so he still had some impressions.

These features on the scope can help soldiers quickly range, and later correct for windage and lead.
