Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

147: Ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new instituteIt took the Institute 12 days to deliver the project to Xu Bai.

It wasn’t that 10 days weren’t enough; it was because Xu Bai later thought that the Institute wasn’t just for research. Sometimes, people would forget the time while researching and would rest there.

Building the resting area like a hotel would lack a sense of belonging, so he waved his hand grandly, letting Wu Zijin and the other two communicate with the designers themselves to design their own rooms.

Because of this, the construction was delayed by two days... Today was the day the Institute was completed, and everyone gathered here with a sense of ceremony, planning to hold a small ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Xu Bai had only intended for the Institute’s staff to tour and celebrate together, not expecting so many people to show up.

”Mr. Bai Xiaobai, congratulations on the completion of your Institute.”

Lei Feng, as the military representative, stepped forward first and shook Xu Bai’s hand. At the same time, his subordinates placed congratulatory flower baskets at the entrance of the Institute.

”Thank you, but why did you bring so many soldiers? Has something unexpected happened?”

Xu Bai was a bit puzzled. Although he knew that Lei Feng had arranged for people to build this Institute, it was already completed, so there was no need for so many people to come.

”Someone will be here in a moment.” Lei Feng stopped speaking after saying this.

This made Xu Bai feel like his heart was being scratched by a cat, all itchy. You know, speaking halfway is a very bad habit and can get you hit.

But Xu Bai didn’t have to wait long. Soon, a convoy of vehicles drove over from afar.

Before Xu Bai even saw the people, just looking at the convoy, he knew that the people coming were of no small status. After all, this wasn’t his previous world; in this world, vehicles were not common, and driving consumed star energy stones.

The convoy moved quickly and steadily, reaching Xu Bai in less than two minutes.

Xu Bai was very surprised to see the person who stepped out of the car, and he hurried forward, hesitatingly extending his right hand.

”Mr. Number Two, why have you come?”

Through the original owner’s memories, Xu Bai already knew the situation of this country and also knew about the 10 sirs.

Xu Bai greatly admired these 10 sirs, so his heart was now as excited as everyone else’s.

”Thank you, Mr. Bai Xiaobai, for creating the new energy cards, and congratulations on the establishment of your Institute.”

Mr. Number Two also extended his right hand and shook Xu Bai’s.

”Thank you, thank you. I didn’t expect you to come. We are all very happy.”

Xu Bai felt a bit overwhelmed, not because the other party shook his hand, but because the other party still called him Bai Xiaobai to keep his identity a secret.

As a national leader, he could keep such a small matter in mind, which undoubtedly showed his importance.

”My main purpose in coming today is to meet you, and I also have a few questions I’d like to ask you.”

”Okay, I will certainly tell you everything without holding anything back. How about we go to the conference room to talk?”

Xu Bai replied to the other party with a solemn tone.

”No hurry, aren’t you going to have a ribbon-cutting ceremony here? You don’t mind if I join, do you?”

”Of course not, it’s our honor for you to join.”

...Wu Zijin, without any regard for Liu Mengyun, pushed her aside, picked up the tray with the scissors, and stepped forward.

Watching Xu Bai and Mr. Number Two each take a pair of scissors from the tray in his hand, his smile grew wider and wider.

He had now also had close contact with Mr. Number Two.

When Wu Zijin returned to his original spot, Liu Mengyun was still glaring at Wu Zijin with a deadpan stare.

”What are you looking at? Haven’t you seen a handsome guy before?”

With that, Wu Zijin tidied his bangs.

Liu Mengyun, constrained by Mr. Number Two’s presence, didn’t bicker with Wu Zijin and could only roll her eyes at him.

The ribbon-cutting continued. Xu Bai first gave some formal remarks, and then, with a gong, it was time.

Xu Bai and Mr. Number Two cut the red silk with scissors, a salute cannon fired, and everyone clapped in celebration... After the ribbon-cutting, Lei Feng walked over and led the two to the Institute’s conference room.

Mr. Number Two began to question Xu Bai only after he saw that only he and Xu Bai were present.

”Mr. Xu Bai, I’m here mainly to ask you three things:

1. How do you view the development prospects of electric energy?

2. Do you think electric energy can replace coal or star energy stones?

3. What are your future experimental plans?”

After hearing these words, Xu Bai lowered his head and thought for a moment.

As someone who had lived in another world, he knew that every energy source had its corresponding purpose, and it wasn’t that one energy source could completely replace another.

With the continuous development of humanity, more and more energy is needed. Only by continuously developing new energy sources can society continue to develop.

Xu Bai: ”I think the development prospects of electric energy are, of course, very good. I’m not saying this because I made this cards, but because that’s genuinely what I think.

Actually, I think the first and second questions can be seen as one question.”

”Oh, how so?”

”Do you know about energy conversion?”

”I have some understanding of it, which is what you wrote in your thesis about converting chemical energy into electrical energy.”

”Yes, in fact, energy conversion is everywhere in our lives. For example, a steam locomotive converts thermal energy into mechanical energy, and when we rub our hands when we’re cold in winter, it’s mechanical energy converting into thermal energy.

In the later stages, I want to research generators, which convert other forms of energy into electrical energy, such as mechanical energy, wind energy, and thermal energy. Then, paired with storage batteries, we can achieve energy storage and release, so we can obtain electrical energy through other forms, greatly saving the consumption of star energy stones.”

Mr. Number Two listened to Xu Bai’s words and nodded, expressing his agreement with Xu Bai’s idea.

”So, that means later on, energy can be generated directly by generators without needing cardss?”

”This is just the ideal method. Let me tell you about the future situation.

First, what’s relatively easy for us to obtain and convert is wind energy and the mechanical energy of flowing water. These can be directly obtained from nature, but there’s a big drawback: they’re easily affected by weather.

Therefore, I don’t recommend developing only these two. We also need thermal power generation. Thermal power generation can operate continuously for 24 hours, generating power stably at any time.

According to our current situation, coal is more cost-effective for thermal power generation, so the use of coal is still very significant.”

Mr. Number Two smiled.

”Okay, I understand. Thank you for your answer.”

”You’re welcome. I don’t know if my ideas are entirely correct; how things turn out later still needs time to explore.”

...After their conversation, Mr. Number Two did not stay long and directly bid farewell and left.

Everyone watched the convoy drive away into the distance.
