Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

120: Offset the meritsHe Xiang and Yang Tiantian bid farewell to the soldiers who escorted them out of the Poisonous Swamp Exotic Beast Zone and walked home as the sun set.

Back home, after escaping danger, eating, and drinking their fill, they finally had time to think about their next steps.

There was no other way; their team originally had 8 members, but four had died, leaving only them and two logistics personnel who collected information.

This meant their team had no combat power left.

Without combat power, they wouldn’t be able to take on many missions.

So, they only had two options: either disband directly or join another team.

Neither of these was a very good option.

If they disbanded, they would lose their ability to earn money, and they had already grown accustomed to the mercenary life; they weren’t too keen on returning to being ordinary people.

If they joined another team, they didn’t know if they would fit in. At the same time, they needed to choose a good team, as not all teams were peaceful. What if they were used as cannon fodder?

Thinking about these things gave He Xiang a headache.

”Wife, what do you think we should do next?”

He Xiang’s voice echoed in the silent night, interrupting Yang Tiantian’s thoughts.

”What do you mean, ’what to do’?”

”Our team is practically gone, right? Which team should we join next?”

He Xiang directly voiced his thoughts.

He was certainly unwilling to go back to living an ordinary life.

”Join which team?”

Yang Tiantian murmured to herself. Suddenly, she recalled the scene of the Ink Bird falling.

That scene kept replaying in her mind; she couldn’t forget it.

”Hey, what kind of weapon do you think they were using?”

Hearing his wife ask this, He Xiang immediately knew what she was referring to.

After all, he had personally experienced the scene that afternoon, and his impression was also very deep.

”Weapon? You mean the team we encountered this afternoon, right? It should be a new weapon researched by the military. Don’t they often bring out new weapons for testing?”

”I know, I just wonder if we can use this weapon. If we can, with this skill, we could join an even more powerful team, don’t you think?”

He Xiang thought about it. It was true, but there was one point that made him very hesitant.

”If everyone can use this weapon, then we won’t have any advantage.”

”You clearly weren’t paying attention this afternoon. I took a look at the two people who joined up later; we’ve met them before. That Wang Jian, he used to be on the perimeter providing cover in his team, just like me.

Also, compared to others, his close-combat ability is weaker, but his shooting ability is strong. My situation is quite similar to his, so if he can use it, I should be able to too.

At the same time, did you notice that their team only had three people, and the main force was shooting from a distance...”

The more Yang Tiantian spoke, the more excited she became.

Although her name contained the character for ’sweet’ (Tian), and she looked quite sweet, she also had dreams.

She always wanted to be the main force of a team, not constantly dispatched to the periphery, even if the periphery was a bit safer.

If she wanted safety, wouldn’t it be better to just live an ordinary life? Since she became a mercenary, she wanted to live a grand and exciting life.

”So, do we need to wait until their new weapon is widely adopted before joining another team?”

Yang Tiantian rolled her eyes at He Xiang.

”Are you stupid? Our Bloody Mercenary Group is the third-ranked mercenary group in Province B.”

He Xiang wasn’t stupid; he just hadn’t reacted immediately. With his wife’s hint, he quickly understood.

”Does this mean we can report to the boss and then cooperate with the military? Our mercenary group can also help the military test weapons, and then our mercenary group will be the first to use the new weapons.”

”Exactly! At the same time, we can also atone for our mistakes. You know, the death of our teammates is a fact, and we would have faced punishment. Now that we’ve brought back this information, the boss might cancel the punishment.”

”But, the question now is, will this new weapon really be that good?”

”Anyway, there’s no harm in trying. We’re already in this situation; there’s no worse outcome.”

After discussing, the two went to sleep peacefully... ”Boss, we swear, we really saw this weapon kill a fifth-level Ink Bird from a very long distance.”

”Yes, my eyesight is quite well-known in our mercenary group. I genuinely didn’t see any of their people near that area.”

”Alright, since you two say so, I’ll believe you this once. I’ll go to the military headquarters and discuss cooperation with them.

Whether the cooperation succeeds or not, as long as the matter is true, your punishment this time will be canceled.”

”Thank you, Boss.” ”Thank you, Boss.”

He Xiang and Yang Tiantian quickly expressed their gratitude, watching their boss leave... Liu Tianshi, although he had heard the team’s report yesterday about rescuing two members of the Bloody Mercenary Group, thought the mercenary group would observe for a while before contacting him.

Unexpectedly, the next day, Guan Ming, the leader of the mercenary group, came to see him.

Since the person had already arrived, Liu Tianshi immediately had him brought in.

The two shook hands and got straight to the point.

”General Liu, you know why I’m here, don’t you?”

”Haha, Leader Guan, I didn’t expect you to come so quickly.”

”With the emergence of new weapons, you must need more data, right? Our mercenary group can help you.”

”You’re mistaken there, Leader Guan. This isn’t about helping us; this is about us cooperating and progressing together, wouldn’t you agree?”

”Yes, yes, yes, we cooperate and progress together. However, I hope that for the first month, it’s a mutual progression between our two sides. What do you think?”

”Two sides, huh? You know we are neutral between you all.”

Liu Tianshi showed a sly smile.

”Yes, yes, that’s true. Then I won’t beat around the bush. For this year’s exotic beast tide, our mercenary group will guard the North Gate. What do you think of that?”

”Good, Leader Guan is truly magnanimous. Then, happy cooperation to us.”

”Happy cooperation.”

Next, the two discussed the specific details of their cooperation... He Xiang and Yang Tiantian waited anxiously at the mercenary group headquarters.

After all, this was a major matter concerning their future.

Yang Tiantian walked in circles around a tree.

Suddenly.

Footsteps sounded, and from the sound, they could tell that the person approaching was their leader.

Both immediately looked at Guan Ming with anticipation.

Seeing their gazes, he nodded, confirming that their information was true.

”We’ve secured cooperation with the military. You two can go then, too. Do you want to go?”

”Yes, Boss, we want to go.”

They hadn’t expected such an unexpected bonus and were extremely happy.
