Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

128: 2000 points!Xu Bai thought for a moment. His primary goal was to earn points, but he had three papers. He could submit one to a better journal and the other two to regular journals.

After all, he had a good idea of the quality of the paper he wrote; the other two were just average, serving as supplementary explanations for the first. The possibility of all three being accepted by better journals was very low.

”I’ve decided. ’Derivation and Application of Expression Methods Based on the Laws of Reflection and Refraction of Light’ will be submitted to a more influential journal, and the other two will be submitted to journals of general influence.”

Yin Jia was stunned, as if she hadn’t expected Xu Bai to think that way.

She had thought he would submit all three to one journal, as they were related.

However, thinking about it, the probability of them being accepted if submitted separately was actually higher than if all three were submitted together.

After all, journals are not serialized novels; they have limited space and there’s no need to publish several similar articles in one issue. If he insisted on submitting all three together, they might be rejected or postponed to a later issue.

”I didn’t expect you to think of submitting them separately, but it’s better this way. I’ll recommend corresponding journals based on your papers, and then you can decide whether to accept them.

For ’Derivation and Application of Expression Methods Based on the Laws of Reflection and Refraction of Light,’ I recommend submitting it to ’theory.’

For ’Experimental Proof of Light Reflection and Refraction,’ I recommend submitting it to ’Tianlong cards Making Experimental Research.’

For ’Refraction and Reflection of Light in Transparent Media,’ I recommend submitting it to ’Card Maker Association Development.’

Journals are divided into 5 levels in total. ’theory’ is a Level 1 journal, and ’Tianlong cards Making Experimental Research’ and ’Card Maker Association Development’ are both Level 3 journals.

What do you think?”

”Okay, thank you. I’ll submit them as you suggested.”

Seeing that Xu Bai didn’t refute but accepted her suggestion, Yin Jia smiled with satisfaction.

Wu Zijin, who was watching from the side, was dumbfounded.

He calculated in his mind the points he would earn if all three journals accepted Xu Bai’s papers.

100 + 50 + 50 = 200

Damn!

He could earn 200 points without doing anything, which was great!

However, he still envied Xu Bai, who was making a fortune, ten times what he was earning.

2000 points!

This was just the base score after the papers were accepted.

Level 1 journals give 1000 points, Level 2 journals 750 points, Level 3 journals 500 points, Level 4 journals 250 points, and Level 5 journals 50 points.

The reason why papers give so many points is to encourage Card Makers to share their cards-making ideas. Afterward, each time a paper is cited, there will be an additional 10 points.

A paper is like a hen that lays golden eggs!

He became more determined to pursue his research.

Previously, his experiments were funded by one of his papers, but now that time had passed and fewer people were citing it, he had to come out and earn points.

There was no other way; he had already invested so much in the experiment. If he stopped now, he would be unwilling...

”Xiao Bai, you are truly amazing. ’theory’ and ’Practice’ are the most influential and widely circulated journals; only these two are Level 1 journals.

It’s truly enviable that you can submit to a top journal on your first paper. If it’s accepted, you won’t have to worry about points later.

My papers are very difficult to get accepted, and even if they are, they can’t make it into these two journals.

Alas, only one of my submitted papers was accepted by a Level 2 journal.”

Wu Zijin looked at Xu Bai as if he were looking at braised pork.

Although he had earned more than 2000 points in total before and after, being able to earn 2000 points right from the start indicated Xu Bai’s strong research ability. He hoped that during the three months he mentored him, Xu Bai would achieve more and greater research results.

”Wu Bai, you can also end your research project and collaborate with others. From what I know, Professor Wang wants to invite you to research together.”

Yin Jia persuaded him. She greatly admired this young man, who was also very capable. She didn’t want him to waste his time and points on a project that might not succeed.

”Sister Yin, don’t try to persuade me. I want to try again.”

”Alright.”

Having failed to persuade him again, Yin Jia sighed and didn’t say anything more.

Speaking of projects, Wu Zijin wondered if he should find new people to join his research so that his research wouldn’t be taken over by others.

As he thought, Wu Zijin’s gaze towards Xu Bai gradually deepened.

Xu Bai didn’t notice Wu Zijin’s gaze and continued to inquire about things he didn’t understand.

”How do we subscribe to these journals? How much do they cost? Do we pay with money or points? Will they be delivered home?”

”That’s simple. The points for subscribing to journals are not many. ’theory’ and ’Practice’ are both free; just make a reservation, fill in your address, and they will be delivered to your home. Other journals require points: 1 point per issue, 10 points for a one-year subscription.

These journals are published monthly, and the Tower has backups of all journals. You can also spend points to view them in the Tower, but the price is 1 point to view two issues, and this is only for viewing, not ownership.

I suggest you first view those journals in the Tower, then choose the ones you are interested in or that relate to your research direction to subscribe to.”

No wonder ’theory’ and ’Practice’ were top journals; it turned out they were created by the Guild and were free, available to every Card Maker, thus reaching more people.

”Alright, I’ve packaged your three papers. They will be sent out after 6 PM tonight. You can go outside to read books or journals you’re interested in. I need to continue reading.”

Once Yin Jia finished her work, she started to usher them out. She still had to continue reading the books she had borrowed.

Wu Zijin shrugged, led Xu Bai out, and returned to the lounge to continue browsing the catalog for books he wanted to read, as Xu Bai currently only had 8 points left...

Xu Bai looked at the catalog, turned to page 4, saw some research on cards-making materials, thought for a moment, memorized the names, and walked towards the corresponding floor.

Xu Le followed closely behind his brother. He wasn’t bored; he held the toy his brother made for him, quietly playing with it, and had snacks in his small pocket when he was hungry.

Flipping through the book in his hand and taking notes in a notebook, Xu Bai began to have some ideas for the cardss he would make later...

After two hours of browsing and spending 6 points, Xu Bai stopped.

He returned to the lounge on the 1st floor to find Wu Zijin, who had already spent all his points, and Xu Le, who was asleep on the sofa.

The reason he still had two points left was because Wu Zijin had told him they would go to the commercial street later.
