Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1199: Dreamscape of a Sealed God

At this moment, within the silence of the Infinite Space, Jacob stood before Whiteness’s unconscious body, his flaming eyes dim yet focused and resolute after having a lengthy discussion with Nyx.

On Whiteness’s body, Jacob could sense the faint remnants of the Scales of Infinity had already faded, but something unseen still lingered like an authority that did not vanish with light and endured.

Without hesitation, Jacob sat down cross-legged, and before long, his skeletal frame stilled completely, just as Nyx had mentioned.

A mystical intent suddenly originated from the depths of his very being, and the next moment, he emotionlessly muttered, ”Nightmare Eater!”

The next moment, a strange ripple passed through his soul, neither violent nor overwhelming; instead, it was invasive, like slipping through a crack that didn’t exist.

Jacob quickly felt his consciousness sinking deeper into something unknown and still, and continued sinking like a pebble in a vast ocean, without any concept of time or existence.

Until everything changed as he felt the sinking sensation suddenly start to fade, but there was still just darkness, not the darkness without light, but the presence of something vast and endless.

Before Jacob could make sense of this, his awareness emerged slowly, like a being awakening in a foreign reality, and when he opened his ’eyes’, even he paused for in front of him stretched an incomprehensible world.

’Is this the Void Mantis’s Dreamscape Realm?!’

Although it was Jacob’s first time infiltrating someone else’s dreamscape, not to mention the dreamscape of a Higher God, he was still astounded and slightly apprehensive at the sight of Whiteness’s Dreamscape Realm.

Whiteness’s Dreamscape Realm was like a void, yet not empty. The entire Dreamscape resembled an infinite abyss, woven with the structure of a massive, cathedral-like formation of pale-white chitin that floated in the distance, shaped like fragments of a colossal mantis exoskeleton.

Furthermore, the Dreamscape Realm wasn’t still; in a moment, it shifted, then folded, and then reassembled as if the Dreamscape itself were alive. Even space bent unnaturally, layered upon itself like overlapping dimensions, each one reflecting distorted versions of the others.

But what was unchanged in this mystical place was right at the center, a colossal silhouette of a Void Mantis!

Jacob was solemn when he saw that ’Void Mantis’, for it was not the reduced Whiteness but the true one, as it was gigantic and boundless. Its form stretched across the Dreamscape like a god carved into reality itself, its presence alone warping perception.

However, Jacob instantly noticed something was wrong, and his gaze sharpened when he saw countless chains stretching across the entire Dreamscape like a web. They were thin and ethereal, yet they felt absolute.

Moreover, he didn’t need to guess the origin of those chains because each chain flickered with pale infinity symbols, embedding itself into every layer of this world.

Some pierced the colossal mantis, others bound the very space, and some extended infinitely beyond sight.

’...So, that’s what Nyx meant when she told me about Whiteness’s Dreamscape Realm being sealed.’

Jacob felt relieved as he finally understood that the chains weren’t just inside Whiteness, for they had rooted themselves into his very existence, even in here, in his subconscious!

At that moment, Jacob felt a shift of familiarity, and his eyes narrowed slightly, and he thought, ’This place felt like welcoming? No, this isn’t accurate. It’s more like submitted to me as I can feel a faint pulse echoed from within my soul!’

Jacob finally understood that the moment he used the Scales of Infinity, fueled by Infinity Blood, he hadn’t just judged Whiteness but had thoroughly invaded the latter completely.

Now, this Dreamscape was no longer solely Whiteness’s domain, for it had become contested territory, and Jacob held dominance.

A subtle, eerie smile formed on his skeletal face as he muttered, ”Intriguing...”

”Now you feel it, don’t you?” Suddenly, Nyx’s voice echoed softly.

But unlike before, it wasn’t external but everywhere, for she was within the Dreamscape, watching and now about to guide Jacob through the initial stages of this venture, just as they decided.

Jacob didn’t seem surprised, nor did he turn as his gaze remained fixed on the vast, distorted world.

”I can feel... something,” He said slowly, ”It’s not your law, but it’s not his law either.”

Nyx giggled faintly, ”Of course it isn’t. That’s the point.”

Suddenly, a ripple passed through the Dreamscape as she continued, ”And that is the Law of Dreamscape!”

Jacob’s eyes flickered, and at that moment, he truly paid attention to the world around him, and he could feel it wasn’t stable or fixed; instead, it seemed to respond to thought, will, and intent.

At that moment, a distant fragment of the mantis structure twisted slightly just because Jacob noticed it.

”...So, this is it,” He coldly stated.

”Not fully,” Nyx corrected, ”What you’re sensing right now is only the surface.”

At that moment, her tone shifted, becoming more profound, ”Dreamscape Law is not about control like Time Law. It’s not about dominance like the Space Law. It’s not even about destruction and emptiness like the Void Law. Instead, it’s about intrusion!”

When Jacob heard those words, something seemed to stir within him.

As if sensing Jacob’s mind, Nyx continued with a hint of ecstasy, ”Everything here is Whiteness. His memories, instincts, fears, authority, and even his understanding of existence. And you...”

Her voice dropped and grew eerie, ”Are an invader!”

Right at that moment, the Dreamscape trembled as far in the distance, the colossal Void Mantis shifted slightly, and a ripple of awareness spread. Even though it hadn’t fully awakened, something had noticed.

However, Jacob didn’t move; instead, his eyes seemed to burn brighter.

”An invader?” His voice was slightly amused as he nodded, ”Then I guess I’ll act like one.”

”That’s what I wanted to hear. Now listen carefully.” Nyx’s elated voice sounded before it turned grave and solemn, ”This is your first time, so don’t rush. The first step is not to directly start devouring but to understand the way of Dreamscape.”

Almost subtly, a faint distortion appeared around Jacob’s form as Nyx’s grim voice sounded, ”Right now, you exist here as a foreign consciousness. But soon...you’ll become something worse!”
