Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1167: The Real Heretic!

The brocade box remained silent under Jacob’s scrutiny as if really considering the pros and cons of accepting Jacob’s offer.

Furthermore, Jacob had just made it clear he wouldn’t let the brocade box go, no matter what, and in its current state, there was really no way to resist him.

However, the Artifact Spirit was hesitant because Jacob was simply too weak right now, but deep down, the artifact spirit was really afraid of Jacob’s threats and knew they weren’t empty promises.

At this moment, the Artifact Spirit finally spoke, ”I can agree to follow you...”

Jacob’s eyes flared with a hint of ecstasy as he thought he had really managed to convince this divine artifact to follow him on its own volition, which would mean he had just gained a treasure trove of a Higher Law God!

But the Artifact Spirit wasn’t done as it continued, ”However, you need to first prove yourself. I need to make sure that you really have what it takes to surpass the Higher Law God Rank Void Mantis!”

Jacob’s eyes compressed into beams as he coldly inquired, ”What do you have me do to make you assure?”

”First, tell me what kind of Fantastic Insect are you and your rank among the Fantastic Insect Race?” The Artifact Spirit inquired curiously.

But Jacob was caught off guard by this unexpected question as his eyes flickered with a hint of doubt, ”Fantastic Insect? Why do you think I’m a fantastic insect?”

”Hmph! Don’t try to deny it any longer. You are the Heretic of the Fantastic Insect Race that Lord Whiteness has been hunting for 2500 years by the will of the Supreme One!” The Artifact Spirit stated matter-of-factly.

Jacob was startled when he heard this unexpected revelation because if what the Artifact Spirit had just revealed was true, then everything Jacob had assumed about Whiteness’s identity was wrong.

Furthermore, the Brocade Box had no reason to trick him like this, or it could’ve offered a more believable excuse to confuse him, yet it seemed very confident.

Moreover, there was something else that the Artifact Spirit just mentioned that made Jacob doubt, ”Over 2500 years? If you’re trying to trick me, you should’ve checked your facts first because over 2450 years ago...”

Before Jacob could complete his sentence, the Artifact Spirit promptly stated, ”You were in the Lesser Plains, right? Hmph, I’m not trying to trick you because I don’t have any reason to ruin our negotiation!”

Jacob was stunned as much as he was astounded because the fact about him being from the Lesser Plains wasn’t known to anyone within the Legendary Plains, not to mention the Artifact Spirit had perfectly guessed where he had been at that time, which means it was telling the truth!

But for this exact reason, Jacob became more confused as he glanced at Whiteness’s unconscious figure, and he really wanted to perform a soul search right away. He had thought he had everything figured out about Whiteness’s intentions, but only now did he realize he didn’t know anything!

However, Jacob didn’t want to risk destroying Whiteness’s soul and ruining everything he had planned, not to mention the 99% chance he’d fail to perform a soul search on Whiteness despite his sealed state.

That’s why the only one who could make everything clear was none other than the Brocade Box, which seemed to know quite a lot about Whiteness.

Suddenly, Jacob’s eyes flickered with another shock as he thought about something else, and he quickly asked the brocade box for confirmation, ”Wait, you also said I’m the ’Heretic of Fantastic Insect Race’, right? Then does it mean Whiteness was hunting a Fantastic Insect, not the ’Cursed One’?”

”Of course! And what is this Cursed One? Well, considering how you are declared the Heretic by the Supreme One, I guess you are doomed to be Cursed forever. But Lord Whiteness never mentioned anything about ’Cursed One,’ and all he wanted was to take the Heretic back to the Supreme One.

”But in a worst-case scenario, like what happened earlier, Lord Whiteness has absolute authority to eliminate you despite the hidden existence behind you.

”However, the result was completely out of Lord Whiteness’s expectation, and you even surpassed the Supreme One’s vision!”

The Artifact Spirit was exasperated and even sounded frustrated, as it thought Jacob was still trying to deny everything or was deliberately testing it.

However, the Artifact Spirit didn’t know that Jacob himself was confused and shocked by everything he just heard, and he also could tell that Whiteness really wasn’t hunting for the Cursed One, but the Heretic of the Fantastic Insect Race.

Nonetheless, Jacob wasn’t a fool, and when he thought about the actual ’Heretic’, someone indeed came to his mind, and he became more solemn.

But he still needed to confirm it first, as he asked, ”Then what about that White Hexagon? What is it really, and why would it react in my presence?”

”Oh, it was the ’compass’ bestowed by the Supreme One, which can point Lord Whiteness towards the Heretic’s general location because someone was constantly interfering with the Supreme One’s ability to pinpoint the Heretic’s location.

”I guess the interference should be because of this space now. But for a short time, the Heretic’s position became clear, which enabled Lord Whiteness to found you. Furthermore, the compass instantly reacted to your presence, solidifying your existence as the Heretic!” The Artifact Spirit explained.

At that moment, it was like thick mist had been cleared from Jacob’s mind because he knew what had actually happened, and he also confirmed who the actual heretic was as he connected the dots at lightning speed.

’The Lamia Queen was standing right behind me when Whiteness confronted me with that compass specifically made to hunt down the Heretic of the Fantastic Insect Race.

’Lastly, Immortika had warned me that using ’it’ would mean going against the natural order, and there would be consequences, and said something cryptic again that I didn’t get that day. Yet I still went with it, and that day, the Heretic among the Fantastic Insect Race was born and named itself Autarch!’
