Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1169: The Taboo among Taboos!

”Even Immortal Nimrod couldn’t track a Void Mantis?”

The Artifact Spirit found Jacob’s question absurd as it lambasted, ”Of course! A Void Mantis ranked 5th within the entire Fantastic Insect Race and is the only Fantastic Insect that can be born in the Universal Void!

”Lord Whiteness had undergone many trials and life-threatening situations to achieve the impossible and evolved into one of the most fearsome beings within the Universal Void.

”However, the Void Monarch would never allow another being that could threaten his control over the Universal Void, and thus, tried to control Lord Whiteness at first.

”But how could a Fantastic Insect fall under someone else’s control? With the help of the ’Supreme One’, Lord Whiteness was able to break free from the Void Monarch’s control and escape the Universal Void.

”Moreover, Lord Whiteness also freed me from the tyranny of the Void Monarch as well. As for what exactly happened before then, Lord Whiteness never divulged that information to me or even the Supreme One.

”Apparently, that time was something Lord Whiteness never wanted to remember, and according to him, the biggest disgrace of his life!”

The Artifact Spirit’s voice contained a trace of melancholy before it suddenly jolted as it quickly berated, ”But that’s beside the point! Mortal, if you cherish your life, stay away from these beings like Void Monarch or the Supreme One!

”Right now, you have gained a new lease on life, and I suggest you keep hiding here if this space can really obstruct the Supreme One’s vision.

”Moreover, as long as you are within the Legendary Plains, the Supreme One can’t do anything to you because there is no one else like Lord Whiteness who can cross boundaries of the Universal Void without getting noticed by the Void Monarch!

”Besides, if you want to really have me acknowledge you as my owner, you have to listen to me and prove yourself worthy enough to at least hide from these beings.” The Brocade Box said matter-of-factly.

Jacob completely ignored the Artifact Spirit’s last ranting as he was still filled with astonishment about the past of Whiteness and the vague history the Brocade Box had revealed between the Void Mantis and Immortal Nimrod.

’A Void Mantis can even break free from the control of the heir of UGS? The fantastic insect race is really worthy of their fearsome reputation. But what even more interesting is this Supreme One, who can compel a Void Mantis to do its bidding, almost to the point of doing suicidal things.’

Jacob’s eyes compressed with shrewdness, ’Something is not right here. After all, this Supreme One is coming after Autarch, probably because I gain absolute control over the Brain Hunter. Could it be this is also about ’control’ or authority?’

He spoke coldly, ”You don’t have to worry about these things, and I want to make it absolutely clear that even if I agree to your condition, it doesn’t mean I’ll follow your orders. It’s the other way around. If you’re not convinced, you may try to resist and see what happens!”

For a moment, the Brocade Box seemed to have forgotten its current situation, and since Jacob was listening to it, it thought maybe Jacob could be manipulated as long as Jacob cared about getting its acknowledgement, but it had clearly underestimated him.

Jacob also sensed it, and that’s why he drew a clear line between his authority and the brocade box’s subservience. After all, no matter if this divine artifact was grateful to Whiteness for freeing it or just pretending to be to gain Jacob’s sympathy, Jacob didn’t care the least bit.

All Jacob cared about at this moment was that this divine artifact could provide him information about Immortal Nimrod, especially about the latter’s hideout within the Universal Void.

But first, Jacob has to fully tame it and make it absolutely loyal, so it won’t hide anything. If what Jacob is thinking now could really be achieved, he needs the full cooperation of this brocade box.

”What about Destin Saint?” Jacob inquired as to why this Brocade Box never mentioned Destin Saint even once, as if it didn’t know anything.

The Brocade Box remained silent for a moment before it spoke with a hint of exasperation, ”I never heard Lord Whiteness mentioning this name. But since you dare to mention this name within the same breath as Void Monarch, I guess this should be another powerful entity.”

Jacob was slightly surprised by the unexpected turn. After all, with Destin Saint’s power, it shouldn’t be possible for him to remain unknown.

Not to mention, Immortal Nimrod and Destin Saint seemed to be in a deep-seated mortal feud and were mortal enemies, as he personally witnessed it. But when he thought about Destin Saint’s mystical abilities, Jacob didn’t dare to have any doubts about his abilities or capabilities.

Jacob’s eyes shifted on unconscious Whiteness for a moment as his eyes flickered with anticipation, ’Did Whiteness know anything about this? After all, if he was under the control of Immortal Nimrod, he probably knows more secrets. I have to find a way to get every last one of his memories and then...’

At this moment, Whiteness’s importance, or specifically his memories’ importance, became priceless within Jacob’s mind.

As for the Brocade Box, Jacob decided not to reveal anything to it, as this Artifact Spirit seemed quite timid and probably would try to flee at any chance it got if it really knew about what kind of enemies were after him, and Void Monarch was just one of them!

”You don’t have to worry about these things.” Jacob impassively stated, ”But you still hadn’t told me who this ’Supreme One’ is? And you don’t have to worry about saying his name out loud in this space. As for whether I could really preserve it or not, I guess we have to see about that now.”

”You’re so obstinate!” The Brocade Box seemed to be appalled at Jacob’s persistence, making it think Jacob seemed to have turned a deaf ear to everything it had just explained.

Jacob’s ambiance turned icy cold as he uttered, ”Just say the damn name!”

The Brocade Box’s patterns churn violently as if having a great battle with its very instinct before it finally uttered in trembling voice, ”F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C! I.N.S.E.C.T! D.E.M.I.U.R.G.E!”
