Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1154: Where to Run? (3)

Jacob wasn’t expecting the intruder to have a child-like appearance, but appearances can be deceiving in the Zodiac Plains.

Furthermore, since this ’child’ was able to sneak into the Infinite Space without getting noticed by Autarch all this time, it was apparent that he was anything but ordinary.

Nonetheless, Jacob wasn’t afraid at all because this was infinite space, and just as he had been able to detect and force Whiteness to come out of hiding, he was confident he could confine it as well and make Whiteness into another test subject!

On the other hand, Whiteness staggered slightly, his composure shattered completely. His white eyes trembled as he looked around at the Infinite Space bending obediently to Jacob’s will, at the puppets frozen mid-motion, and at the tower looming like an execution scaffold.

”Impossible! This is impossible!”

Whiteness was still in shock after what just happened, as he still couldn’t believe a ’Demi-God’ of the Legendary Plains was not only able to see through his stealth but also had been pulled out like filth clinging to a blade with a method completely unknown to him, a Higher God!

Besides, Whiteness wasn’t just any Higher God, for he was a unique existence because of his very origin, and he had crossed veils, evaded laws, and slipped past perception for a very long time without getting caught or noticed even once unless the other part was on the same power level as his master!

Furthermore, when Whiteness entered the Infinite Space, he certainly felt how profound and mysterious this independent realm was, even more mysterious than any realms within the Upper Plains that he had been inside.

Moreover, he intended to observe first before making a move, but Jacob didn’t even give him a chance to breathe before pulling him out in the open, and now Whiteness was also feeling a powerful, mysterious force of suppression wrapping around his very godhood like a coiling serpent!

This suppression was the last thing Whiteness was expecting to confront within the Legendary Plains because something that could suppress a Higher God like him is extremely rare, even in the Higher Plains, much less in a backwater place like the Middle Plains!

Whiteness’s breath hitched, disbelief flooding his childlike face as he whispered hoarsely,

”...You...!” His grip tightened around the hexagon, his mind reeling, ’This space... this authority... this intrusion...’

For the first time since accepting the Supreme One’s command, Whiteness felt something he had long forgotten...a sense of unease and fear!

The moment unease bloomed in Whiteness’s heart, he reacted on pure instinct and moved to retreat. Yet the instant he attempted to withdraw, nothing happened.

Whiteness’s eyes narrowed as he discovered, to his absolute horror, that there was no ’outside’ to return to because the exit had vanished. However, his horror stemmed from the fact that the exit wasn’t sealed, obstructed, or concealed; it simply no longer existed.

A cold wave crashed into Whiteness’s mind as he instinctively reached outward, attempting to reconnect with the surrounding space, to anchor himself to external coordinates, deeper space layers, or distant void...anything, as a matter of fact, but there was no response or resonance.

It was as if the universe beyond this place had been erased from relevance.

”This...!” Whiteness’s breath caught as dread seeped into his bones.

As a last-ditch effort, he tried to use the space of Infinite Space to flee, but it neither rejected him violently nor resisted him actively; instead, it ignored him.

The space here did not respond to his will, nor did laws acknowledge his authority, and concepts refused to align with his intent.

It was as though every layer of existence within this realm already belonged to someone else and Whiteness. Despite being a Higher God, it was nothing more than an uninvited intruder with no permissions granted.

Even movement felt wrong as his limbs obeyed him, yet the space between actions felt heavy, viscous, as if reality itself disapproved of his presence.

”’...This space,” Whiteness muttered hoarsely, ”is...sacred?!”

The realization struck like lightning because those existences who can create such realms shouldn’t even glance at the Legendary Plains, not to mention they absolutely weren’t allowed to ’exist’ here.

At that moment, his gaze snapped back to the skeletal figure standing calmly before him...Jacob, who seemed to be watching him with indifference, like a spectator watching a clown performing a show.

After all, Jacob knew that as long as he didn’t allow it, Whiteness wouldn’t be able to use any law or concept. But Jacob still hadn’t realized that Whiteness wasn’t native to Legendary Plains, nor was he a Mortal!

At that moment, Whiteness forced himself to steady his breathing and evaluate with ruthless clarity as he stripped away fear and shock, and then he saw it.

Jacob radiated no ’divine’ aura, nor was there any true godhead resonance, omniscient hum, or transcendental authority that marked a being who had crossed the final threshold of becoming a God!

Instead, what stood before him was an existence at the absolute apex of the Demi-God Realm, so complete and refined that it felt suffocating. A being standing at the very edge of divinity, one step away from Godhood.

Yet that final step could not be taken within the boundaries of the Legendary Plains, as the rules forbade it and the ceiling rejected it. Lastly, the heavens themselves suppressed it.

But Jacob stood so close to the Mythical Realm that the difference felt almost academic.

On the other hand, Whiteness didn’t even spare Autarch a glance; a legendary king, no matter how unusual, was irrelevant to his perception, as a Higher God did not concern himself with ants.

Relief, but twisted and dangerous, flickered through Whiteness’s chest as he thought, ’A Demi-God... no matter how abnormal... is still beneath me. Yes, this space is terrifying. Yes, the suppression is real.

’And yes, the situation is wildly outside my expectations. But power hierarchy is absolute, for even weakened, even suppressed, a Higher God is still a Higher God!’

At that exact moment, the white hexagon in his hand violently trembled, not faintly or subtly, but it shook like a maddened compass caught in a magnetic storm!
