Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1160: Scales that Dare the Void Mantis! (2)

When the Scales of Judgment manifested, Whiteness felt their oppressive and uncanny nature, which somehow even affected a Higher Law God like him.

Furthermore, the more he looked at the Scales of Judgement, Whiteness felt a sense of peculiar familiarity as if he had seen something similar before, and as a Higher Law God, he never forgot!

”What...wait, those are...!?” Whiteness’s voice rippled across space, no longer calm, no longer absolute, as if he finally remembered where he had seen similar scales before.

But Whiteness was in utter disbelief, as if he didn’t want to believe for a moment that the manifested scales behind Jacob and the scales he remembered were related, for the latter belonged to an ancient race that had long since become extinct.

Furthermore, that race’s extinction was shrouded in mystery, and that mystery was linked to another existence, apparently the last surviving remnant of that ancient race. Lastly, that last member of that ancient race was even stronger than Whiteness!

On the other hand, Jacob was submerged in a profound ethereal sensation after activating the Scales of Justice, the innate domain-type law ability of the Eyes of Judge.

He feels as if his consciousness has ascended from a selfish mortal to an unbiased law for whom everything was equal, yet at the same time, his ’beliefs’ govern ’equality’.

Furthermore, the runic marking on Jacob’s skeleton totem was glowing bright as drop after drop of the infinity blood seemed to be channeling into Jacob’s unique Scales of Justice.

”Hahahahaha...it took you so long to figure this out, despite my giving you ’advice’ about ’knowing your tools’ instead of fearing them. I guess it is still fear and desperation that drive you to take these steps, which is quite entertaining by the way, hehe~.

”Feel it and remember it, this is ’your’ law ability, fueled by none other than ’your’ arcane law. Consider this a unique talent of being my heir and another function of Infinity Blood, which can fuel every innate law ability you possess in the face of adversity, way beyond your rank.”

Jacob’s eyes flickered with a hint of realization after learning such an important detail about ’himself,’ but no anger or indignation surfaced in his eyes in his current state, and Immortika wasn’t done either as the Cursed Book continued...

”However, don’t go overly crazy for this; still, use your lifespan, albeit far less than Wishes becasue this has nothing to do with ’my’ abilities or ’Infinity Pedant’, nonetheless, it still comes with a cost.

”In that Void Mantis case, he had paid a terrible price to enter the Legendary Plains by sacrificing not only all of his accumulated Divine Power, but also all the Crown’s Rings of his Celestial Law Astrolabe!

”Or you won’t be completely sealed off from all of his law energy in the current state of Infinite Space. Nonetheless, as a Void Mantis, as long as he can retain all the power of his racial body at the Higher God Rank, he can recover everything he had sacrificed to be here.

”However, normally, he wouldn’t be able to reveal his real body in the legendary plains without getting killed by the Universal Retribution, but in the infinite space, he was able to do so for obvious reasons. Hehehe!

”But it still won’t change the fact that the Void Mantis in front of you is a Higher Law God without any divine power, or Crown Rings, and even his Divine Soul has been damaged greatly after he sacrificed his foundation.

”That’s why the infinity blood you’ll use will burn down around 100,000 years of your lifespan to activate the Scales of Justice, while if that was a real Higher Law God Void Mantis, Hehehe...”

Immortika’s voice faded away with its amusing and foreboding laughter, and the Cursed Book no longer spoke as if everything that needed to be told was told, and now everything was on Jacob.

Jacob didn’t react much, but all that information was enough to reveal what had just happened, as all his fear and anxiety from moments ago vanished as he glanced at Whiteness with his glyph-like eyes, making Whiteness’s colossal frame flinch.

At that moment, Whiteness Null Void Law stirred violently, instinctively recoiling, and the white hexagonal sigil at the crown of his mantis form spun erratically, emitting sharp ripples as if screaming in protest.

”Theirs is an Arch Justice Human hiding in this place?!”

A fleeting hint of surprise flashed past Jacob’s eyes when he heard ’Arch Justice Human’, but he didn’t speak as he found it meaningless.

At that moment, the Scales moved slowly, as if by inevitability, and invisible weight began to pour into the pans.

The invisible weight didn’t originate from power or rank but from deeds of Whiteness!

At that moment, Whiteness was being judged according to every belief of Jacob as myriad fleeting scenes started to flash past Jacob’s mind.

Jacob was startled because those scenes were foreign and belonged to none other than Whiteness, and since Jacob was the ’Judge’, he naturally got to ’see’ the ’sins’ of the ’sinner’ before the judgement!

In those countless scenes, every kill Whiteness had committed in obedience to the Supreme One, every being erased in the Void, every hunt conducted without mercy, every truth dissected and discarded, every...

Those scenes weren’t accusations; they were being counted.

Although those scenes were extremely vague and fleeting, they were enough to make even Jacob feel the chill down his spine, and he realized at that moment, despite his own selfish and demonic nature, he was nothing in front of Whiteness.

Suddenly, Whiteness’s vast mantis body trembled.

”No...this ability shouldn’t have appeared here...shhhiih...”

The Scales didn’t seem to care about Whiteness’s curiosity or resistance as Whiteness suddenly shrilled.

It was as if something deep within Whiteness were being ripped apart, and it was indeed the case as a crushing pressure bore down on Whiteness’s deeply hidden Divine Soul!

At that moment, Jacob felt the Scales were not favoring Whiteness, and suddenly, those scales seemed to connect with his very being, starting to test his beliefs, values, and resolve!
