Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 995: ”The Blackbird,” is released suddenly.

Shanghai Stock Exchange.

”Brother Tong, are you going to see a movie?”

Before leaving get off work, Zhou Junhao saw a ticketing app flash on Tong Junhuiʼs phone and immediately responded enthusiastically: ”Are you going to see ʼTime Warpʼ? Letʼs go, letʼs go, Iʼll buy tickets for my third viewing too! Letʼs go together!”

Tong Junhui paused in packing his things, then opened his phone and said, ”Itʼs not ʼTime and Space Standoff,ʼ itʼs another movie thatʼs being released on the Lantern Festival.”

”Ah, right, today is the Lantern Festival!” Zhou Junhao slapped his forehead.

Although it wasnʼt ”Time and Space Standoff,” Zhou Junhao was still very interested in going to the movies with Tong Junhui, so he continued to ask with great enthusiasm, ”So what movie is Brother Tong planning to see? A movie that Brother Tong is going to see on its opening day must be really good. Iʼll go with you to support it!”

Since I donʼt have anything to do today, going to the movies to relax sounds like a good idea!

”Itʼs ʼThe Blackbirdʼ.”

Tong Junhui showed a screenshot of a movie poster on his phone.

The poster features a classic Hong Kong-style filter. Two figures stand in the dim sunlight, one in light and one in shadow. Outside the light, another group of people surrounds them, placing the two protagonists at the visual center. The background is cold and melancholic, while the dark red movie title ”Blackbird” is displayed at the top.

At the same time, at the very bottom of the layer containing the word ”blackbird,” there is the shadow of a black bird with outstretched wings, projected onto the entire poster, creating a striking contrast with the cool-toned background. Itʼs as if, the moment it flew over, the enormous shadow enveloped everyone in the scene.

This is a rather melancholic poster cover. It doesnʼt have any particularly ingenious design, but the colors have a unique, calm feel reminiscent of Hong Kong films, which immediately piques oneʼs curiosity.

As a journalist with a keen eye, Zhou Junhao immediately spotted the key figure on the poster—

In that corner, the young manʼs profile stood out strikingly handsomely in the interplay of light and shadow.

”This is a Hong Kong film, I donʼt know if youʼve heard of it—”

Before Tong Junhui could finish speaking, Zhou Junhao suddenly realized, clenching his fist and lightly tapping his palm: ”Ah! The movie that Brother Xiao had a cameo in! So thatʼs the name! I thought the movie they made was called ʼThe Crowʼ!”

No wonder he didnʼt react immediately when Brother Tong said that name.

”I remember it was after that cruise ship trip in Hong Kong that Brother Xiao made a cameo appearance at the last minute! There are also several older actors in this movie that my motherʼs generation likes!”

”Yes, thatʼs the one.”

Tong Junhui nodded, confirming his words.

”I absolutely have to buy a ticket and go support them in person! Brother Tong, wait for me, Iʼll buy the tickets right away!”

Without any hesitation, Zhou Junhao started taking out his phone to buy tickets.

After buying their tickets, the two walked out while talking.

”So ʼBlackbirdʼ is being released today! Theyʼre so low-key, how come I never heard about it before?” Zhou Junhao exclaimed.

If the filmʼs producers had been willing to capitalize on Xiao Heʼs current popularity and aggressively market him, just like with ”Yu Ye,” then the release of ”Wu Dong” wouldnʼt have been so lukewarm.

Even now, many of these fans who are willing to support Xiao Heʼs films are unaware that it has already been released.

”Itʼs probably still affected by that previous incident.”

Tong Junhui, as a former insider in the industry, is very familiar with this.

”In the six months since then, almost no films from that region have been released in mainland China, which shows that the incident had a very big impact on their inner circle.”

Although on the surface everything seemed normal, a large number of celebrities were taken away by the police for investigation. Because the case had escalated to a national issue and was extremely serious, many investors fled upon hearing the news, or temporarily adjusted their investment in that area, fearing that the matter would implicate them.

The film ”Blackbird” was naturally greatly affected. Director Gao and his team had intended to use this script to further expand into the mainland market. Originally, based on the timeline, even if it couldnʼt be released directly during the Spring Festival, it could still benefit from the holiday season and earn more tickets during the long holiday period...

Itʼs a pity that despite the huge publicity before its release, it has become completely silent now that itʼs actually being shown in mainland China.

As he said this, Tong Junhui also expressed his regret: ”Director Gao is actually one of the better directors in terms of both character and ability. Itʼs just a pity... The only hope now is that the overall quality of ʼBlack Thrushʼ is not bad, and that it can attract some word-of-mouth publicity after its release. Otherwise, this film is probably going to have a hard time.”

“There’s nothing we can do about it.” Zhou Junhao sighed. “Speaking of which, it’s such a pity that we couldn’t go to Brother Xiao’s birthday party. Otherwise, I could have talked to him about what happened in Hong Kong. I feel that some of your descriptions are too one-sided. Brother Xiao’s side must be much more interesting.”

Tong Junhui glanced helplessly at Zhou Junhao, shook his head, and didnʼt reply.

And so, on the Lantern Festival, the two of them went to the cinema to contribute to the box office success of ”The Blackbird”.

To their surprise, while the online promotion for ”Blackbird” was relatively low-key, the number of people attending the offline screenings was surprisingly large.

A large portion of them are young people, clearly Xiao Heʼs fans.

Like them, they all came for Xiao He!

Zhou Junhao and Tong Junhui exchanged a glance, once again gaining a real sense of Xiao Heʼs current terrifying popularity.

”Brother Tong, I thought it would be deserted here!”

Zhou Junhao was somewhat surprised when he sat down and couldnʼt help but whisper to Tong Junhui.

Immediately afterwards, he heard two other people behind him talking about the same thing.

”Who could miss Xiao Ge playing a villain? Actually, Iʼm a fan of his villain roles, really! Last year, he didnʼt play a villain in several of his films, and I almost thought he had forgotten his roots. I didnʼt expect to be so lucky at the beginning of this year, with two villain roles in a row. How awesome!”

Wow, this guy is not only a fan of villains, but also a young man who loves ancient Chinese style.

Zhou Junhao couldnʼt help but turn around and glance at it, then turned back to ask Tong Junhui, ”Brother Tong, I havenʼt seen the trailer for the movie ʼBlackbird,ʼ and Brother Xiao is making a cameo as a villain again?”

Tong Junhui thought for a moment, then shook his head: ”I donʼt know, it doesnʼt seem to be explicitly mentioned in the trailer.”

At this moment, the two people who had been talking behind them continued the conversation: ”How did you know Brother Xiao was playing a villain in it? He was wearing a uniform in it!”

”What do you know? The plot is about finding the mole. As the villainous mole, heʼs definitely wearing a uniform! Did you really think he could be a good guy?”

”Hiss—thatʼs right! Youʼre absolutely right!”

Zhou Junhao rested his chin on his hand, intently eavesdropping on the conversation between the two people behind him, and silently nodded in agreement: ”Yes, that makes sense!”

Tong Junhui: ”...”

For a moment, it was unclear whether this statement was a praise or a denigration of Xiao He.
