Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 429: Laugh-Out-Loud Moments from Domestic Variety Shows

In the following few days, Xiao He made a brief stay in China, completing some promotional shoots in advance, and also participated in several interviews and events.

During his filming of ”The Phantom Thief Alliance 2,” many things happened back home.

First, the variety show ”Public Enemy Number One,” invested in by Linghui Entertainment, had already recorded over half of its episodes. He Junhao racked his brains, overcame numerous obstacles, and finally managed to fight his way into the finals with a second-place finish in his group.

On the show, he also successfully transitioned from a weird-zone food blogger to a healing-style food blogger.

Note: The ”healing-style” here is genuinely healing-style.

Including but not limited to: soft, cute, adorable cotton candy cakes; heart-meltingly cute chibi-style macarons; cartoon-shaped panda rice balls, and so on.

He Junhao had been slightly chubby for a few years. After the incident where his account was destroyed, he was busy with his new account and gradually lost a lot of weight. Later, he even started working out, creating a somewhat rough tough-guy persona. Now, while making these soft, cute foods, he deliberately appears on camera acting silly, creating a strong contrast with the beautiful food on the table.

So recently, two types of comments frequently appear in his videos.

[So cute, so eye-searing, so cute, so eye-searing.]

When the camera focuses on the food, itʼs beautiful desserts that make netizensʼ hearts melt. When the camera pans to Handsome Heʼs face, itʼs the worldʼs greasiest creature that makes netizensʼ vision go dark, leading to frantic roasting.
[Handsome He, please stop doing suggestive moves. You have a kind of sleazy vibe that just canʼt be pulled off no matter how you try.]

[So despairing. Thinking that such adorable cute things were created by Handsome He gives me a sense of despair, like my own precious treasure has been defiled.]

[Handsome He, I agree for you to go back to the weird zone. Please, just be yourself.]

One can only say, He Junhao really went all out.

When he complained in the group chat that he had finally reached the day of ”selling his skills by relying on his body,” he was met with his old friendsʼ wild mockery.

[Dai Bo: Maybe just forget it. The harder you try, the sadder it gets.]

[Zhai Zhipeng: Handsome He, why not go ask your Brother Xiao for some advice? I feel like your suggestive moves are harassing me.]

Xiao He, who was filming in Grasse, France at the time: ?

[Xiao He: What does this have to do with me? Iʼm a legitimate actor.]

Although everyone was laughing, He Junhaoʼs strategy was actually quite effective.

However, after reaching the finals, news about the recording of ”Public Enemy Number One” was completely leaked. Many people learned about the internal variety show filming among online influencers, and that the progress had now reached the later live-stream challenge competition stage. For bloggers like He Junhao in the food category, they were at a slight disadvantage.

Itʼs no exaggeration to say that He Junhao rarely did live streams. His ability to create engaging content was far inferior to other types of streamers. For food zone bloggers like him who fought their way up relying on food, they were already extremely rare. The other one was a teammate He Junhao brought in, also a Bilibili food content creator.

After Xiao He returned to China, he took some time to ask He Junhao a few more questions. After receiving He Junhaoʼs confident reply, he didnʼt intervene further.

On another front, just as the variety show ”Public Enemy Number One” was being recorded, ”Ace Reasoning” had already begun airing.

On the second day after Xiao He landed in China, the second episode of ”Ace Reasoning” officially aired.

As the important opening case of the season, this first case was divided into two parts. This second episode was when the truth of the case and the killer were formally revealed.

Almost on the night it aired, ”Ace Reasoning” soared to the top of the Hot Search list.

The exquisite costumes, makeup, and sets; the mind-blowing plot twists of the case; the intricately connected web of character relationships—all successfully won everyoneʼs affection.

The final truth of the case and the killerʼs case narration especially moved numerous viewers to tears.

The guests chosen for this season of ”Ace Reasoning” were also truly excellent. Not a single one was a buffoonish clown who came on just to act silly and stupid. Almost all of them were intelligent and sharp. Even the artist initially positioned as the comedic character could guarantee frequent funny moments while also outputting his own opinions and suspicions, making viewers nod repeatedly and unconsciously follow their pace.

The one with the lowest status and the least fame among them was probably Liang Cheng. Because he debuted relatively early, Liang Chengʼs education level was also very low, arguably the worst among the guests. Early on during participation, netizens didnʼt have high hopes for him. However, despite this, he still tried his best to keep up with the seniorsʼ pace, diligently played his assigned role, performed tasks efficiently, and could very frankly acknowledge his own ”stupidity.”

After all, netizens nowadays have sharp eyes. Pretending to understand when you donʼt will only get you criticized.

So Liang Cheng worked hard to find clues, then gave the clues to smarter people for analysis, and closely followed the smarter peopleʼs lead to complete tasks. Overall, his performance was faultless.

Because of the explosive popularity of ”Ace Reasoning,” his own name recognition also rose. Many fans began gathering around him, starting to genuinely pay attention to him as a person, not just because of his previous boy band.

At the same time, the killer that netizens were most looking forward to was also revealed in the latest episode.

Because the killer teaser featuring Xiao He appeared early, netizens already knew the killer was a medical examiner. However, what they didnʼt expect was that all the participating guests had medical examiner professions. The end of the first episode only revealed the truth of the original case and found the killerʼs motive, but based solely on the first episodeʼs content, it was temporarily impossible to determine who the final killer was.

It wasnʼt until the second episode revealed the truth that netizens learned the final killer was that comedic artist.

Looking at the killer in the actual variety show episode, then looking at the killer in the variety showʼs teaser, netizens fell into a long silence.

The main issue was, the appearance of this artist guest who drew the killer role really couldnʼt be considered good.

If he were just playing the killer by himself, it wouldnʼt matter. After all, what everyone watches is the character portrayal, similar to script murder games—everything is based on the drawn character, and as long as the guests perform their roles well and the plot is solid, viewersʼ immersion is still very strong. But the problem was... a shining pearl came first, followed by a wooden box.

With Xiao He having played the medical examiner killer first, viewersʼ expectations for the guestsʼ killer portrayal were also infinitely raised. Moreover, since among the participating guests, there really were handsome, high-popularity, high-heat traffic idols, viewers were more inclined to favor those few when it came to the killer choice.

Perhaps even the production team didnʼt expect that when the guests drew their character cards, the killer card played by Xiao He happened to be drawn by this comedic artist.

To prevent netizens from attacking the production team for deliberately creating comparisons/disparagement and manufacturing show effects, the production team, with a strong sense of self-preservation, released the video recording of the character card drawing.

Fortunately, this character card drawing took place right at the photography studio where the guests were shooting the first episodeʼs promotional posters. Everyone was on camera, each taking an envelope. So such a dramatic arrangement couldnʼt have been orchestrated by the production team, nor could it have been a later reshoot.

But still...

Viewers really didnʼt know what to say. Even Little Box fans felt embarrassed to continue praising Brother Xiaoʼs killer teaser, afraid of being labeled by other fans as ”disrespectful to seniors.”

In the end, it was this comedic artist who proactively posted a Weibo comment.

[Zhou Nanye: Production team, promise me youʼll let me play such a handsome killer next time, okay? [dog head]]

Xiao He received the notification, saw this comment, and found it both funny and exasperating. He quickly followed up with a reply below.

[Xiao He: Teacher Zhou and I cooperated seamlessly, successfully fooling the detective. Letʼs continue collaborating next time thereʼs a chance. [dog head]]

The originally somewhat awkward atmosphere suddenly vanished.

Fans from both sides breathed a sigh of relief. Only the troublemakers jumped up and down, laughing especially happily.

[Production team, promise me, next time donʼt do trailer fraud, okay?]

[Teaser: Handsome killer, cool and aloof criminal. Actual episode: Well, itʼs a killer.]

[Hahaha, netizens are still the best at roasting. Their sweet little mouths are like theyʼre coated with honey.]

[Teacher Zhou, donʼt look, itʼs hate comments.]

[You didnʼt spare him either.]
