Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 422: Shi Ji: “Codename ‘Blank’? Not a male guest? What are you, a ladyboy or something?”

That night, they directly proceeded with Xiao Heʼs first scene.

In the world setting of ”The Phantom Thief Alliance,” there is a fictional ranking list of master thieves.

The white-haired hacker codenamed ”blank,” despite having top-tier hacking skills that allow him to silently erase his traces and track down treasures, has only average physical abilities and often requires team assistance. Therefore, in the comprehensive ranking, he can only place third.

Even so, the aura he exudes upon his debut is completely maxed out. Compared to Lu Xiaokong and Shi Ji, who are ranked beyond the top hundred, he is simply a high-level boss.

However, as a comedy film, no matter how cool a characterʼs persona is, it canʼt be maintained for more than a second.

”Bu Nan Ke?”

Shi Ji looked the person up and down, his face showing a bewildered expression, ”So that means youʼre a ladyboy, right?”

White-haired Hacker: ”...”

Lu Xiaokong: ”...”

What the hell is ʼBu Nan Keʼ!
”Itʼs blank! blank! How dare you, someone who canʼt even speak English properly, come to France alone?”

The white-haired hacker was so angry he was hopping mad.

”Oh—”

Shi Ji drew out the syllable, not understanding at all, but tactfully changed his form of address: ”Then Iʼll just call you Little Third! That name of yours is really too unpleasant to hear. Itʼs better to just call you Little Third, which can also highlight your position in the ranking.”

The white-haired hacker clutched his chest, feeling like he was about to vomit blood.

Being the eternal third-place loser was his everlasting pain!

Good grief, right after meeting, Shi Ji was already frantically tap-dancing all over his sore spots.

Lu Xiaokong also recalled how his uncle had tricked him into going to White Elephant Country to sell himself back in the day. He looked at the white-haired hacker with great sympathy and appropriately stopped his own uncleʼs behavior of attracting hatred: ”Uncle, say less.”

The white-haired hacker also said angrily and impatiently: ”Do you want to make this deal or not? If not, Iʼll find someone else!”

”We do, we do!”

Shi Ji tried to reach out and hook his arm around the white-haired hacker, but the other nimbly dodged. Shi Ji could only awkwardly withdraw his hand, then lowered his voice and said: ”Itʼs just that youʼre taking too big a cut! How about this: I have great connections over in White Elephant Country! As long as you help us find the perfume this time, weʼll split the money you get three, me seven. Later, Iʼll take you to our place for a massage!”

The white-haired hacker rolled his eyes, turned, and walked away, disappearing into the night in the blink of an eye.

”Hey, hey—”

Shi Ji, having failed the negotiation, extended his hand in a pleading gesture, ”Then you four, me six—”

”Letʼs talk some more—”

”Alright, alright!”

Lu Xiaokong also felt embarrassed on his own behalf and held his forehead.

Damn it, who could take his old uncle away?

Shi Ji was also very dissatisfied: ”Why arenʼt you saying anything?”

Lu Xiaokong: ”... Youʼve already offended him to death, what else is there for me to say?”

Then he also started walking forward along the empty street.

Shi Ji hurriedly caught up: ”Hey, how are you talking to your old uncle? Back in the day, on the one thousand two hundred and fifty-eighth day after you were born, I even held you—”

”Ah, yes, yes. When I was three years old, you carried me to go play mahjong. But you got so engrossed in the game that you didnʼt even realize I had a fever. Later, I almost burned up and became an idiot!”

”Huh? Ahem, you have quite a good memory for a kid. But doesnʼt that just prove your brain is fine?”

”...”

During the day, Grasse looks like a beautiful little town with exotic charm, but the streets at night arenʼt that well-lit. Many areas canʼt even compare to ordinary small town streets in China, especially the many alleys here. They twist and turn, winding through narrow gaps between buildings, extending towards various different places.

These alleys are usually completely devoid of any light, forming a stark contrast with the streets in front. So, in many cases, you have exquisite shops filled with fragrance in the front, but turning into the back alley reveals damp walls and haphazardly piled garbage.

Even though the location their production team chose for filming was very close to the center of the town, right next to the bustling streets and roads of the daytime, many of the alleys in this area were still gloomy and eerie. Among them were even narrow lanes left over from the Middle Ages that had never been fully renovated. When the production crewʼs staff members moved around, they would even deliberately avoid those ”gaps.”

Only the actors performing the scene had to walk all the way to the deepest part of one of these alleys in one go—important parentheses: this refers only to Xiao He.

The staff had roughly cleaned this path during the day, but when Xiao He walked it, he could still catch some unpleasant odors. Combined with the eerie atmosphere of this path, it always made people imagine it as some kind of dangerous crime scene.

But who is Xiao He?

He wasnʼt very afraid of such an environment; in fact, he felt a sense of comfort and ease after blending into the darkness.

After refusing the staffʼs accompaniment, Xiao He walked alone towards the depths of the alley.

Behind him were the production teamʼs crane lights and camera lenses.

Only when Xiao Heʼs figure completely disappeared from the camera lens did Director Zhuang finally call ”Cut.”

And the sound of him raising the loudspeaker to shout ”Cut” was also very easily transmitted through the narrow alley to Xiao Heʼs ears.

This also meant that Xiao Heʼs filming scenes for the night had finally come to an end.

Xiao He calmly walked out of the darkness, returned to the production crewʼs staff, and said thank you: ”Thank you, everyone has worked hard.”

”Teacher Xiao has worked hard too.”

A staff member responded with a smile.

Then Xiao He walked over to Director Zhuangʼs side and, along with Chen You and Xie Jingshi, watched the results of tonightʼs shoot.

To be honest, in this recent comedic scene, the lines spoken by Shi Ji, played by Chen You, were somewhat awkward and unlikable.

After all, someone who talks about sex and money with every opening and closing of their mouth isnʼt exactly a good person.

But Teacher Chen Youʼs portrayal of Shi Ji, with his cadenced speech and rich expressions, instead made it hard for people to feel offended, only finding it quite funny.

Conversely, in such a context, Xiao Heʼs performance felt somewhat out of place.

How to put it? This feeling was like two people from different worlds being forcibly paired together. One could spout dirty, crude jokes without batting an eye, while the other was in a state where even saying ”your father” lacked much convincing power.

Fortunately, from the character settings, the hacker and Shi Ji indeed are people from two different worlds. This sense of dissonance paired together actually made the story wonderfully interesting.

Only Xiao He, after watching the filmed content of this scene, fell into a brief silence.

Although this performance happened to meet the requirements of the plot, it wasnʼt Xiao Heʼs original intention.

He just hadnʼt expected there to be such a clear distinction between himself and an actor like Chen You.

This gap made Xiao He feel somewhat disappointed, more or less.

But he quickly adjusted his mindset and began observing Chen Youʼs performance.

Clearly, even Xie Jingshi, who plays Lu Xiaokong, couldnʼt completely keep up with Chen Youʼs rhythm when everyone was bantering and joking around. But fortunately, thatʼs in line with their characters, so the two of them together didnʼt seem abrupt.

Good, at least being equally mediocre among his peers gave him some peace of mind.

But even though his heart was at ease, the areas that needed improvement still required a lot of work.

After watching, Director Zhuang also briefly explained this situation to Xiao He and Xie Jingshi.

Actually, this level of acting skill is more than sufficient for ”The Phantom Thief Alliance 2.” But since both Xiao He and Xie Jingshi are quite serious people who desire to improve, Director Zhuang didnʼt begrudge his time analyzing some of the current problems in their respective acting skills.

Xiao He and Xie Jingshi listened and nodded repeatedly.

Chen Youʼs attitude, however, remained relatively cold. Even when dealing with Xie Jingshi, with whom he was collaborating for the second time, or the great director Zhuang Hongyi, he wasnʼt particularly familiar. While Director Zhuang was giving guidance to the two, he sat to the side listening quietly, smoking the cigarette in his hand, actually looking somewhat melancholic.

Xiao He couldnʼt help but sneak a few more glances when he had a moment, feeling a sense of emotional resonance in his heart.
