All Gods: Starting with Two Families

Chapter 99 Machines Have SpiritsAmidst a wave of Divine Thought filled with joy and hope due to the rising of the ”Little Sun,” the cold, metallic face of the Gear Deity seemed out of place—even though his face was incapable of making any expression to begin with.

He controlled his divine thought projection, rolling over to Zhou Zheng’s side, and issued a direct invitation.

”I intend to establish a new guild, ’Mechanical Spirit’.” His Divine Thought fluctuation was steady and affirmative, without a hint of hesitation. ”The coming era will surely be led by machines. Join us.”

Just as Zhou Zheng had expected, the conditions for joining proposed by the other party were extremely harsh, almost equivalent to an indenture contract.

Zhou Zheng naturally declined politely. Even with the infiltration mission from Hell Flower, he could not possibly sign such a contract that would bind his own future.

Yet, his true inner thoughts were: Gear is merely a Rank 2 Deity. With almost all the big shots of the Myriad Spirits Divine System present right now, why not take this opportunity to directly destroy the Gear Deity?

He would have absolutely no chance of escaping!

Zhou Zheng had once posed this question to Hell Flower. At that time, she laughed loudly, causing her shattered porcelain pieces to tremble: ”Hahaha! Worthy of the person I have my eye on; I really like this style of doing things!”

But after laughing, her tone carried a rare hint of regret: ”Unfortunately, on the eve of an epochal shift, these so-called ’people favored by the trend’ are often protected by some kind of fate, making them difficult to easily stifle.”

”I can clearly perceive that if we were to force our hand now, not only would we fail, but it would also trigger various unpredictable accidents and backlash, and might even... accelerate his growth, allowing him to seize the Luck of the era faster.”

”This, perhaps, is the great trend of the world, the inertia of fate.”

Zhou Zheng precisely captured a keyword in her words: ”Eve?”

Hell Flower stared at him meaningfully and said slowly: ”You don’t think this little commotion right now is the entirety of the natural disaster, do you? At best, this is just a... trailer.”

Upon hearing this, a chill could not help but rise in Zhou Zheng’s heart.

Merely from this ”trailer,” the number of fallen deities was already countless. If the natural disaster were to formally descend in full force, what a terrifying scene that would be?

...

Zhou Zheng’s refusal did not affect the rapid rise and development of the Mechanical Spirit Guild.

A large number of deities were attracted by the mechanical units and chose to join one after another, including even the Gold Lion Deity, whom Zhou Zheng knew.

The higher-ups of the Myriad Spirits Divine System adopted an attitude of acquiescence and even observation towards this, without interfering.

Perhaps because he had been ”intercepted” and played by Zhou Zheng during the first wave of the disaster, the Gear Deity significantly restricted the circulation of high-level mechanical knowledge.

Buildings exist to allow the Laws one has comprehended to transform one’s divine domain. The requirements for building Rank are:

For a deity to promote to a Rank 2 divine status, they need to possess a Rank 6 building; to promote to Rank 3 divine status, they need an even higher Rank 9 building for support.

Nowadays, outside of the Mechanical Spirit Guild, the highest knowledge Rank that can be obtained is firmly locked at Rank 5. Want to go further? The only way is to join their guild.

It must be said that the popularization of various mechanical bionic units has indeed provided great convenience for many deities, especially in this turbulent era.

Every day, an endless stream of deities goes to the Mechanical Spirit Guild to sign up and trade, making for a bustling scene.

In contrast, the traditional Soldier Spirit Pool Guild appears deserted.

No matter how sharp the weapons you forge are, for many deities nowadays, their first choice is no longer to arm their followers for the battlefield!

Huge changes have also occurred within the guild.

The Group Nine Leader took a large number of core members and defected to the new guild, while the remaining groups were forced to merge and reorganize, eventually barely managing to retain only three groups.

Zhou Zheng has now been assigned under the Group One Leader, who originally found Gear the most displeasing.

He had originally worried that his experience of having served under Gear would attract the antipathy of the Group One Leader, but he did not expect that this leader’s big hammer divine thought projection would welcome him: ”Those who are still willing to stay in the guild and work steadily now are all good children!”

Zhou Zheng pondered for a moment and said: ”I have always believed that the core Foundation of a deity ultimately lies in their own followers.”

The Group One Leader’s big hammer divine thought projection swayed up and down, indicating deep agreement.

”Now that the guild’s order volume is not what it used to be, I don’t have much left to support you all with...”

The Group One Leader’s Divine Thought fluctuation carried a hint of undisguisable desolation as he handed a batch of thick Blacksmith blueprints Legacy to Zhou Zheng, ”Keep these blueprints well and study them diligently.”

”At the very least... don’t let this craft of ours, the Blacksmiths, have its Legacy completely broken.”
