Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 715: Haven Wind Town

After receiving the notification that the town construction was completed, Xu Feng quickly messaged Carmen.

”Guild Leader, the town is already done?” Astonished by the news, Carmen rushed over in an instant, her breathing somewhat uneven. ”I thought you said it would take about a week or so.”

”Yes, based on normal occurrence, that would be correct.” Xu Feng chuckled and pointed outside the window. ”Our dear City Magistrate most likely doesnʼt wish to see my face much, so he probably ordered the workers to hasten their pace.”

”...”

Carmenʼs mouth was left agape, clearly speechless by his nonchalance.

ʼThe City Magistrate doesnʼt want to see the Guild Leaderʼs face? Did he already offend them in such a short span of time?ʼ She cried inwardly.

Without a doubt, Carmen was positive that Xu Feng must have offended them. It was hard to believe otherwise if anyone were to say Xu Feng was very easygoing and great to interact with.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng understood what kind of imagination was cooking up in Carmenʼs mind when she flashed such an expression.

”I had no choice.” He suddenly said and explained. ”The City Magistrate wishes to control me like some pawn, so I had to tell him heʼs dreaming.”

”Ugh, then wouldnʼt he start hindering our business? Most of our revenue is still coming from the Vanguard Hotel, Vanguard Blacksmith, Vanguard Tavern, and Vanguard Shop.” Carmen smiled bitterly.

Although she could understand why a fallout happened, she still found it difficult to believe their work might be in ruin because of an NPC. They had defended heavily against the hostile players, and she was now informed that an NPC ruined them?

How could she accept that kind of situation?

”Youʼre overthinking too much, Carmen.” Xu Feng mused, finding her behavior somewhat hilarious. ”Weʼve defended the city from siege and even contributed to its revival. Not to mention, did you forget who owns the Arcane Vein that supplied the most mineral resources?”

A brief moment went by before Carmen suddenly curled her lips upward. She flashed a wicked grin and pointed at Xu Feng up and down.

”You really are the shrewd Guild Leader I know.” She exclaimed. ”To think you even dare to blackmail the City Magistrate. What kind of confidence is needed to proceed with such an act?”

”Ahem,” Xu Feng faked a cough to cut her off. ”What are you talking about? Blackmail? Our Vanguard Guild is honest and magnanimous. We never blackmail, only discuss in a gentle-like manner.”

”Sure, you can sleep with that thought tonight.”

”...”

Sometime later, once their banter was finished, the two went back to serious talk.

”Anyway, the town being completed is still a top secret. Weʼre going to go there in a minute, so make sure you drop everything you need to do to Veronica.”

”Rest assured, Iʼve already dumped all the workload on her.” Carmen shrugged.

Chuckling in amusement, Xu Feng knew Carmen was simply just like him.

He dumped most of the workload to Zhao Kai and OneManMedia whereas Carmen dumped her workload to Veronica. This was the best tactic in laying back and not doing the tedious work.

Of course, it was a pipe dream to not be working hard, given that what they do would be more difficult than their tasks.

”Here, take this town token. Without it, you canʼt teleport there.” Xu Feng retrieved a golden token and handed it to her.

As Carmen received the golden token, she inspected it for a while and checked the description on the system prompt.

—

Item Name: Town Token

Description: The item grants entry to the holder and allows them to teleport to the designated town which is still off-limits to the public. Keep in mind that the item remains effective only when the Town Owner enables it. Otherwise, itʼs just a scrap item wasting a slot in your inventory.

—

”This description… is it made by you?” Carmen raised an eyebrow and asked suspiciously.

The system description had always remained neutral and professional. Yet this particular description seemed to be teasing the player, especially toward those who might attempt to steal the item.

”Yeah, Iʼve made it. Any problem?” Xu Feng replied nonchalantly.

”No, itʼs just that it really suits your style.”

”Alright, Iʼve enabled permission for the Town Token so activate it.”

Nodding, Carmen quickly noticed the activate button was no longer grayed out and pressed on it.

As soon as she did, she found her vision blurred for a brief moment. And when she regained her vision, she felt her body turning lighter and a whole different kind of scenery.

System: You have entered Haven Wind Town!

Looking at the system prompt, Carmen then glanced at the buffs that were on her status screen.

Health and Mana Recovery were increased by 50% and all attributes buff increased by 25%. These buffs were mind-blowing, to say the least. Just by staying in the town, she had such amazing buffs without needing to do anything.

”From your excitement, I supposed you loved the town.” Appearing from behind her, Xu Feng quickly commented on her state of astonishment.

”Guild Leader!” Carmen turned around and called out excitedly. ”How the hell did you manage to pull such a stunt? If I recall correctly, a town requires a Town Certificate and a lot of money to construct. The price also depends on the location, but I donʼt recognize the surroundings at all.”

Despite her rambling, the entire point was that she couldnʼt comprehend where she had teleported to.

”Haven Wind Town is located at Twilight Glades, a minimum requirement of level 35 to come here.” Xu Feng mused, subtly hinting to her that he had also reached level 35.

Sure enough, Carmenʼs eyes narrowed and held an urge to strangle Xu Feng on the spot.

ʼHow did the Guild Leader suddenly reach the same level as me?ʼ She cried inwardly. She spent a lot of time grinding and striving her best to maintain her position on the top-level leaderboard, but Xu Feng somehow managed to catch up to her.
