Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 923: Chapter 119: New Holy Relic of Glory: Book of Prayer (2)

Su Li nodded with a smile: ”That’s good! Knights are indeed extremely proficient in this aspect.”

If evaluated using the Five-Dimensional Ability Map for human knights, their attack ability can only be considered barely qualified, even mid-to-low level, especially when compared to Khorne’s top-tier slaughter infantry, such as the Fury. Or the Dwarf’s steam tanks, Thundering Musketeers, as well as mages, giant beasts, and so forth, the knight’s efficiency in combat is far inferior.

Regarding mobility, they are just average, after all, their movement relies not on their own legs, but on the warhorses beneath them. And one cannot deny that warhorses, regardless of this bizarre Fantasy World or even the Mortal World, have relatively weak mobility. Their endurance is so low that they often cannot outrun humans during a full gallop. In this bizarre Fantasy World, the hooves of these creatures can only bully the cumbersome heavy infantry.

However, at the cost of these mediocrities, human knights truly excel in solid defenses and resilient morale.

Essentially, except for the Dwarves, armies of any other race, at the same tier level, struggle to compare with human knights.

Take Hilude, for instance, even after being heavily injured in Divine General state, he could still go searching for the Holy Relic of Glory, exemplifying his resilience.

Only then did Su Li feel relieved and asked Hilude: ”Is this the new Holy Relic of Glory?”

Hilude immediately held the Holy Relic of Glory in both hands and presented it to Su Li, saying: ”Yes, Lord, and its effect can be described as extremely potent.”

”Hmm?” Su Li took it, glanced at it, and was instantly surprised: ”A book? Does this Spider God have textual books?”

On it, it’s clearly not the language of the Human Empire.

The entire book fits this world’s cold, hard style, with the cover made from some unknown dark metal, and a central embossed purple throne pierced by a short dagger, with a mysterious, blood-red-eyed hand stretching down from above, seeming to observe everything, yet control everything.

Hilude pondered for a moment, then said: ”I feel this doesn’t seem like a Holy Relic of Glory belonging to the Spider God, normally spiders don’t have hands, right? We have some Holy Relics of Glory that do not belong to the Sun Goddess, like the Water Repelling Pearl. In this world of frequent wars, it’s quite normal for some Divine Spirits to possess others’ Holy Relics of Glory. I sense that the content on the book’s cover is some Divine Spirit’s Divine Emblem.”

It’s reasonable, as Divine Spirits basically have unique symbols. For instance, Redema has the Double-tailed Comet, Khorne has the Eight-pointed Blood Skull Emblem, Wood Elf Deity Kunos has the Deer Horn Longbow.

But this emblem clearly belongs to some Divine Spirit, the divine splendor exuding from the entire Holy Relic originates from this emblem.

At this moment, Amber Magic Grondahl, who had finished clearing the battlefield with the soldiers, came over and said calmly: ”The writing above is in Dark Elf script. This is the Holy Relic of Glory belonging to Blood Hand Cain.”

”Blood Hand Cain?” Su Li raised an eyebrow and said: ”I’ve heard of him, seemed to be an Evil God, called the Master of Murder by his followers.”

Grondahl shook his head and said: ”That’s a misunderstanding of Cain in the Mortal World, but in the Old World Pantheon, the Master of Murder is a very special case. Though he’s a legitimate deity among the Pantheon, a member of the Old World Pantheon, the worship of Cain is illegal and there are ample reasons to prohibit belief in him—since the Old World is governed by rule of law, there’s no room for worshippers to conduct bloody ceremonies. Therefore, Cain can only be revered in secret, his overt followers are killed, the few temples are razed to ground, warning the people not to repeat this sordid practice.”

A legitimate deity, yet prohibited by various powers? Intriguing.

Grondahl continued explaining: ”Despite being a forbidden deity, Cain still has many followers in the Old World. Secret activities of Cain’s followers are spread across nations and settlements, where they gather in darkness, worshiping their fearsome deity, plotting murders, and seeking his blessings. Despite these cultists not being deterred by the knight’s Purifying Fire, they seldom act openly, rather, they thrive by operating in the shadows. Those who oppose Cain’s followers often find themselves discovered one ordinary day lying in bed, their spouse unaware, asleep, yet their throat slashed—perhaps strangled or their guts cut open—dying silently.”

”Due to being an illegal religion, Cain’s believers have no formal system, they are scattered across the empire in small and independent enclaves. Although they share a common fascination with murder, significant differences exist between groups, where popular discussions often relate to doctrines, purposes, and even practices. During religious ceremonies, followers often wear black robes edged with red. These garments symbolize the relationship between the Master of Murder and his brother Mole, as well as representing the blood spilled from a perfect murder.”

”Some Cain priests may serve as leaders of their organization, but otherwise, their organization is quite informal. Most followers are actually laymen, the Cainite faith requires only that they possess ’bloody hands.’ Those potential followers with qualms about committing crimes are ultimately destined to become the organization’s next victim. Meanwhile, due to the nature of the deity, Cain priests are highly likely to be necromancers.”
