Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 913: Chapter 116: Territory’s Formidable Military Power (Part 4)

This at least ensures that Su Li is not too afraid of Old Jasper, after all, most of the necromancer’s combat power is composed of those undead monsters it manipulates. And Su Li still has a large army under his command, which can help the Divine Chosen Knights hold off the Commander Corps, especially since the Hesse Territory’s army has a large number of Champion Knights and cannons, which is unparalleled in restraining the Undead Legion, creating extremely favorable conditions for the Divine Chosen Knights’ decapitation strike.

Thinking of this situation, Su Li was also full of vigor, leading the army like the wind, reaching the Storm Shadow Fortress in less than three days.

It was the dwarves that seriously slowed down his marching speed; otherwise, the cavalry could have sprinted there in less than two days.

Of course, the dwarves also have their advantages, which are their extreme toughness, abundant physical strength, and ability to endure hardship. Although their tactical mobility on the battlefield is relatively weak, their strategic marching ability is not weak at all.

If the entire army were to advance for ten days or half a month, their speed would be faster than the cavalry. Their short legs can indeed march for days and nights nonstop, recovering physical strength as they go.

The warhorses, on the other hand, are at a serious disadvantage. They have an advantage over short distances, but after running for a few hours, they need to stop and rest, otherwise they would overheat and die.

For day-and-night marches, light cavalry raids, and rapid advances of 1,000 miles, after which most horses would die. Unless there is significant strategic value, no commander would do this.

Of course, Su Li had no such concerns; he had top-grade forage, allowing the cavalry to run as much as they wanted.

Upon reaching the Storm Shadow Fortress, it was at dusk with the summer sunset tinting the land and forests a golden yellow.

Although thirty miles away, Su Li, riding a griffin, saw the forest destroyed by an earthquake and the vast cave exposed at a glance from the air.

In order to allow the giant spiders to come and go freely, the cave’s tunnel is tens of meters wide, and it appeared particularly fragile during the earthquake, so the collapsed cave created a black gully on the ground.

The commander responsible for defending the Storm Shadow Fortress is Griffin Knight Edwin; he is one of the few griffin knights in the territory, and his griffin was not granted by Su Li, but brought by himself.

In fact, he comes from a very noble background; a student of the Modheim Royal Griffin Military Academy, he acquired a griffin in his teens.

His talent far exceeds that of the Dawn Knight Edwin who competed with Su Li for the arena championship.

That Elite Knight is also excellent; he could ride in and out of thousands of troops, stabbing the necromancer to death at the front. If Su Li had not joined the arena, he would be the strongest contender for the championship. However, as the third place winner, he received a half-griffin egg and is currently a reserve knight in the Sun of Revenge Knight Order, also participating in this expedition.

As the commander of the Storm Shadow Fortress, Griffin Knight Edwin rode up to meet them on his griffin and asked Su Li, ”Lord, would you like to inspect the fortress?”

”I won’t go into the fortress,” Su Li waved his hand. This Storm Shadow Fortress is a fully military fortress, and most of the styles are similar, nothing he particularly wants to see. If it were the White Castle, he might be interested in taking a look.

”I plan to go directly into the monster’s lair. After all, it’s completely dark inside, so it makes no difference whether it’s day or night. Have you sent knights in to investigate?”

Edwin frowned and said, ”Lord, since this cave appeared, I have sent knights, mercenaries, and members of the Red Brotherhood to investigate it. In total, four or five teams with dozens of people went in. Some didn’t come back, but those who did all reported the same thing: the presence of a dense Wind of Death inside. It’s a very peculiar piece of information.”
