Pioneer Lord: Starting From Daily Intelligence

Chapter 914: Chapter 117: Witnessing the Mighty Power of the Spider God and Encountering a New Holy Relic of Glory

Edwin’s report made Su Li frown slightly; in this world of black despair, danger lurks everywhere, and anyone wanting to survive must be exceptionally cautious.

Although he has achieved some insignificant accomplishments for now, throughout the Border Prince’s Territory, there are countless Pioneer Lords and even Kingdom Knights like him with armies numbering in the thousands. Thus, Pioneer Territories are constantly perishing and being annihilated.

He did not let himself be dazzled by the small achievements before him, remaining cautious and grounded at the army’s barracks. He gathered the Divine Chosen Knights and Champion Knights in the army and asked, ”Why is there a rich aura of death in the subterranean cavern of the green-skinned spiders?”

The knights leading the team this time have the primary goal of confronting the green-skinned war, and prevention against the undead is indeed beyond the scope of their objective. However, it is fortunate that Hesse Territory is rich in talent. Demster, as Anaric’s Divine Chosen, is an expert in this area.

He wore the rare-level gilded black plate armor, Twilight Armor, which made him appear particularly tall and solemn, full of imposing presence, and he said, ”These subterranean caverns are usually heavily guarded by goblins, in a sense. For thousands of years, many Arachnary Giant Spiders have been contented with their luxurious lives, relying on Forest Goblin settlements to survive.”

”Most of them huddle in their underground fortresses year-round, with piles of kitchen scraps in the deep ominous nests akin to mountains; they serve as both carpets and curtains. The air is filled with an unpleasant, corrupt, nauseating odor enough to suffocate any intruder within minutes. For Forest Goblins, these giant spider pits are the most sacred places. When help from these ancient monsters is needed, the Goblin Shamans will hold ancient rituals to summon the Giant Beasts, and Arachnary Giant Spiders will respond to the call and emerge from the vast pits. Equipped with firepower projection platforms and the Spider God’s altar tailored by Forest Goblins, they will sway into motion, spreading terror back to the surface world.”

”This has led to the Corruption Pit underground being piled with remnants of sacrifices offered by the goblins, including a great number of goblin remains. Typically, Undead Mages covet this place without being able to approach or penetrate it. However, an earthquake caused a collapse here, creating a loophole in the pit’s defenses, revealing an entrance to the outside. It wouldn’t be surprising for an Undead Mage coveting this place to enter.”

Su Li immediately understood and asked, ”So, considering this, we are likely not the only force eyeing this place?”

”That’s very possible,” Demster replied carefully. ”If we plan to enter this subterranean nest, we should prepare for threats from others.”

A Champion Knight from the Sun Goddess Church rubbed his steel fists, clenched his fists together on his chest heavily, and complained angrily, ”This situation is terrible for us. We always chose battlefield locations, fighting on grounds advantageous to us. But this time, we must enter others’ designated battlefields! As a devout follower of the Sun Goddess, I very much dislike this scenario.”

Hilude also frowned slightly, saying, ”In that case, let’s introduce the battlefield we are about to enter.”

Demster patience, said, ”Speaking of Arachnary Giant Spiders, one cannot ignore Forest Goblins. The Forest Goblin Shaman, who has lived in the Corruption Pit for years alongside the Arachnary Giant Spiders, looks like a humanoid spider. They care for, feed, and tend to the Arachnary hatchlings, serving the Spider God’s earthly incarnation—Arachnary Giant Spider itself. Influenced by the giant spider’s innate magic radiation, a new gland develops inside the abdomen of shamans, which can shoot webs by exerting slight pressure, forming a network used for binding, luring, or even killing prey.”

”They also craft intricate web traps, strategically placed around the giant spider nest or key defensive areas of the tribe against outside enemies. When travelers and adventurers trespass into the Forest Goblin territory, they are silently stalked by goblin shamans who have been transformed by webs. Some will barreled headlong into traps or webs to meet their demise, while others will be strangled with webs or served as a feast for swarming Arachnary Giant Spider hatchlings. Though they dwell within the jungle, they do not coexist harmoniously with nature; a forest inhabited by large Forest Goblin settlements becomes a dark place filled with thick webs interwoven within the canopy, inhabited by giant spiders, scorpions, and other terrifying predators. Creatures venturing deep into this forest rapidly find themselves lost within a labyrinth of webs covered with bones and relics.”

”Forest Goblins are mortal enemies of spirit race creatures, using traps woven from webs to hunt for delicacies, usually few little elves and pikeling. Sometimes they also wrap entire trees with webs in vain attempts to seize tree spirits. The enmity between elves and Forest Goblins can trace back to a time before written history when there was only one continent of Terragia, ancient gods roamed the land, and giant dragons ruled the skies. Driven by this ancient conflict, some smaller elf communities would rather collaborate with dwarves to clear out neighboring Forest Goblin settlements along with their giant spiders, illustrating the depth of the hatred.”
