Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: True to His Name

Lu Li, like a child who had done something wrong, obediently followed President Liu into the community.

It’s strange, ever since he discovered that his genetic lock was unlocked and he had gained some special abilities, he no longer cared about this job, so he shouldn’t fear his superiors.

In fact, Lu Li was not like that.

On regular days at the company, he still felt like a subordinate towards Manager Wang and Deputy Manager Zhang.

Today is supposed to be a day off, and he was caught by President Liu. He could have openly refused, at most quitting his job, but he chose the most ”pathetic” solution, which was to lie and deceive the other party, then obediently follow to work.

Lu Li couldn’t quite understand why he had to be so ”cowardly.”

”Maybe it’s because I haven’t found a reliable way to make money yet, and I don’t want to leave the company for now.”

He consoled himself as he reached the destination.

This is a very upscale neighborhood.

Besides the residential buildings.

There’s also a section of small villas.

President Liu lives in one of the small villas.

After stepping through the gate, Lu Li took a careful look at the surroundings.

This small villa occupies an area of about two hundred and fifty square meters.

It has a separate garage.

The plants around the metal railings are quite lush and leafy.

In front of the left side of the house, there’s also an artificial fish pond.

No need to think too much, this fish pond is definitely ”contraband.”

The small villa looks quite high-end.

But Lu Li felt that as a direct member of the Liu Clan, President Liu living here seemed a bit shabby.

On TV, don’t all rich people of this level live in luxury mansions?

Arriving at the front of the house.

Lu Li blinked and asked indirectly, ”President Liu, why did you decide to buy a house in this neighborhood?”

”I didn’t buy it, I rent it.” President Liu used her thumb to unlock the door.

With a click.

The door opened.

As she pushed the door open, she said, ”I haven’t been back long, still having someone look for a place. This is just a temporary residence.”

Lu Li let out an ”oh” and followed her inside the house.

President Liu bent down to open the shoe cabinet and took out two pairs of slippers.

This action was nothing special.

It’s normal to bend down to pick up something.

But since Lu Li had just come in, they were quite close to each other.

When she bent over, physical contact was inevitable.

He hadn’t had any close encounters in years.

Now, having a slight touch with President Liu.

His heart started pounding uncontrollably.

Lu Li couldn’t help but look down and then stared blankly.

As for why he stared, any man would understand.

Well, if anyone doesn’t understand, they could search for videos online of women bending over and take a closer look to get it.

Anyway, Lu Li’s mind went blank, filled only with the image of President Liu bending over.

President Liu’s back was to the door.

She didn’t have eyes on the back of her head.

There’s no way she could know what Lu Li was thinking?

She handed a pair of women’s slippers to Lu Li, ”Change your shoes.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Li snapped out of his reverie and quickly responded, ”Okay.”

But when he looked down, he found a pair of women’s slippers in front of him.

Without a word, Lu Li asked, ”No men’s slippers?”

President Liu had just finished changing her shoes and glanced at him.

She calmly replied, ”Apart from the housekeeper, I never thought of bringing anyone here.”

While taking off his shoes, Lu Li tried to probe, ”You’re not planning to bring your boyfriend either?”

President Liu walked toward the living room sofa, ”No boyfriend.”

Lu Li placed his shoes aside and closed the door, surprised, ”No way, President Liu, you’re not that young... ahem, you look so beautiful, surely there must be men pursuing you.”

Although she looked about twenty-one or twenty-two, Lu Li had heard from others that President Liu’s actual age was around twenty-seven or twenty-eight, which indeed wasn’t considered young.

Women of this age are just at the prime of their youth.

Lu Li was younger than President Liu.

But she was so beautiful.

Coupled with her impressive figure.

He couldn’t help but let his mind wander.

President Liu sat down on the white sofa, legs crossed.

She sighed lightly, ”Some things are beyond our control.”

President Liu seemed disinclined to talk about this topic, and pointed to the single sofa beside her, ”Sit down, let’s talk about the proposal.”

Although she didn’t explain, Lu Li could roughly guess why.

He figured that, like in the TV dramas, for a super family conglomerate like the Liu Clan, the children would generally marry someone with a similar family background, so she didn’t have a boyfriend.

He pondered this as he walked forward and sat down on the single sofa, ”President Liu, in your message... did you mention any proposals?”

He almost misspoke.

Fortunately, Lu Li was quick to react.

President Liu didn’t seem suspicious, and took her phone out of her bag.

She opened a short video and handed it to Lu Li, ”Watch the video first.”

Lu Li reached out and took it.

At a glance, he realized it was a short video of himself devouring a hotdog during the Nathan Hotdog Challenge.

Clearly, someone had uploaded the video to Douyin from the challenge.

He glanced at the likes and comments, and found they were indeed numerous.

Seventy to eighty thousand likes.

The number of comments was almost five thousand.

Lu Li looked up, a bit bewildered, ”President Liu, what’s the meaning of this video?”

He had a rough idea.

Sure enough, as she retrieved her phone, President Liu slowly said, ”Your win in the Nathan Hotdog Challenge has caused quite a stir online. I’m thinking, should we quickly open our company’s live-stream session while the topic is hot, and have you as the online sales host?”
