Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Wealth and Desire

The next day, woke up early in the morning.

For some reason, Lu Li felt a bit of backache.

He checked his body, but didn’t find anything unusual.

Lu Li wondered if it was because he spent too much money yesterday, got too excited, and went to bed a bit late, not getting enough rest, so he didn’t pay much attention to it.

Because he hadn’t thought of evolving any new functions for the time being, last night when he went to sleep, he still hinted at himself to evolve X-ray vision, hoping it could progress beyond just one millimeter.

Unfortunately, this time it wasn’t so easy.

Lu Li tried several times, but could still only see through one millimeter.

Yesterday went so smoothly, but today there’s no progress at all?

Lu Li found it a bit strange.

”Last night I also had a similar strange dream, with the Little Golden Man gathering light onto my eyes, so why is there no growth?”

Could it be because the Little Golden Man’s light gathering time was too short in the dream last night, so the X-ray vision didn’t grow?

He always disliked getting hung up on things he couldn’t figure out, so he didn’t dwell on it.

Went downstairs.

Bought breakfast at the bun shop.

Lu Li yawned, ”Two meat buns.”

Shopkeeper: ”Five bucks.”

Lu Li mechanically paid the money.

Holding the two buns to eat.

He felt especially hungry today.

Usually, two buns in the morning would be enough to fill him up.

But today, after eating two buns, he still felt famished.

About to head to the nearby bus stop to wait for the bus.

Suddenly, a big group of people were pointing at an open space not far away, among them were several foreigners.

Lu Li casually glanced at it but didn’t pay much attention.

Arrived at the bus stop.

Two young people were chatting.

”Hey, Handsome, did you see those foreigners?”

”Yes, what’s up?”

”I heard they are the organizers of the Nathan’s Hot Dog Challenge. Since the contest did well in the Ugly Country’s Coney Island, they’re looking to try it overseas; if you win first place, supposedly you’ll be invited by the organizers to attend the main competition in New York’s Coney Island in a few months.”

”Getting first place is not that easy.”

”You don’t necessarily have to get first place, the top ten all get decent prizes. First place gets three thousand US Dollars, second two thousand, third one thousand, all the way to three hundred US Dollars for the tenth place. That’s right, you heard it, US Dollars.”

Initially, Lu Li didn’t really know what the Nathan’s Hot Dog Challenge was about.

After listening for a while, he realized it was an eating contest.

He didn’t expect there to be a competition held near where he lived, so he thought about whether he should check it out when the time comes.

Soon, the bus arrived.

Lu Li got on the bus to head to the company.

...

The day quickly passed by.

Lu Li was the same as he always was.

Busy during the day writing some drafts.

Then stayed late for some training.

It quickly reached around seven o’clock in the evening.

He tidied up the training materials.

Just about to find a new lottery shop to continue his fortune plan.

When, unexpectedly, he hadn’t left the training room yet and was called over by President Liu’s assistant.

General Manager’s office.

Knock knock.

Lu Li knocked and went in.

President Liu was, as usual, dressed in business attire.

She was looking down, handling documents, ”Sit for a bit, I’ll talk to you when I’m done here.”

Lu Li replied, ”Okay, you carry on, I’m in no hurry.”

He casually sat on the sofa by the door, casting his gaze towards President Liu.

Today, President Liu seemed to be wearing a light makeup, looking much fairer than yesterday.

The Barbie pink lipstick didn’t make her look ”deadly”; on the contrary, she exuded a brilliant radiance in the dark.

Lu Li couldn’t help but blink, thinking how beautiful President Liu looked.

He pondered, if only he could have such a beautiful girlfriend.

Then...

Yeah, he sat there waiting for an hour.

President Liu seemed engrossed in her work, completely forgetting Lu Li was there.

For some reason, Lu Li was especially hungry today.

Though he had eaten a work meal during the overtime, it was just a fixed portion of ”box lunch.”

Now it’s been three hours since meal time, he was hungry again.

Groooo...

Lu Li’s stomach growled.

President Liu seemed to finally notice someone else was in the office upon hearing the sound.

She looked up, somewhat confused, ”What are you doing here?”

Lu Li: ”...”

Wasn’t it you who asked the assistant to call me over?

He was almost left speechless.

Lu Li, with a line of black lines on his forehead, said, ”President Liu, I was already off work, you asked me to come over.”

President Liu suddenly realized, yet she showed no hint of apology, ”Oh, I remember, I called you to discuss something.”

She looked at her watch, ”It’s past eight already, getting kind of late...”

Lu Li’s heart lifted, thinking she might tell him to go off work and discuss things tomorrow.

But unexpectedly, President Liu shifted the topic, ”I heard your stomach growling just now, are you hungry? I haven’t eaten either, let’s find a restaurant to eat while we talk.”

Lu Li couldn’t help but feel a faint sadness.

Isn’t it past time to clock out for the day, bro?

But he was indeed hungry, so he agreed, ”Okay.”

President Liu didn’t say anything else, stood up, grabbed her briefcase, and walked out.

Lu Li followed her.

Took the elevator downstairs.

Arrived at the parking lot.

President Liu picked up the car key and pressed it, immediately a car went ”beep beep”.

Lu Li casually looked over, and his gaze was instantly captivated!

In front of him was a liquid metal dragon blood red Panamera.

Its bright yet understated look was just so cool!

He was extremely curious and walked up, ”President Liu, is this your car?”

President Liu opened the driver’s door, ”Yes, didn’t buy a good car after returning to the country, making do with this one.”

Lu Li: ”......”

He truly felt this was beyond belief, you’re really rich, huh, considering a Panamera not a good car?

Lu Li thought for a moment, she’s probably someone from the trillion-dollar market value Liu Group, just here for some experience, gilding her resume.

Considering the Liu Clan’s immense financial power, a Panamera isn’t much in their eyes.

Understanding her mindset is one thing, but why does he feel a bit lightly hurt?

Lu Li opened the passenger door and sat directly inside.

President Liu, expressionless, gripping the steering wheel, ”Buckle your seatbelt.”

”Oh.”

Lu Li quickly pulled the seatbelt and clicked it in place.

President Liu didn’t hurry to drive, she got out a pair of glasses and put them on, then started the car.

Without the glasses, she looked fine.

But with them on, Lu Li was truly amazed.

President Liu really matched Lu Li’s aesthetic.

In his eyes, she was more beautiful than any female celebrity.

Though she often kept a stern face, making Lu Li aware of her beauty, he instinctively maintained a respectful distance.

Who would have thought, that putting on glasses, emphasizing her exquisite face, made her alluring.

Before, Lu Li didn’t really understand the term ”pure desire.”

Online people like Jingchuan Liyu or Annie were praised for it, but he never felt that pure desire from them.

Yet looking at President Liu with glasses on, Lu Li genuinely experienced that sense of purity coupled with allure.

At this moment, his heart uncontrollably skipped a beat, feeling like he was falling in love.

Beautiful!

Wealthy family!

Lu Li dreamt of finding such a beautiful girlfriend and living a carefree life.

Hey, such thoughts aren’t right.

Lu Li thought he really wasn’t decent, having such lecherous thoughts about President Liu.

Such thoughts were indeed improper, after all, he didn’t even know if she’s single, how could he think of seducing?

Lu Li swore he wasn’t that obscene!

He genuinely didn’t want to seduce!

If possible, I want both wealth and love...
