Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Cosmic Emperor

Just as Lu Li was lost in thought.

The voice of the young blogger came from the phone again, ”Of course, even if someone actually unlocks all the gene locks overnight, they wouldn’t immediately gain powerful abilities, as the body cannot withstand the sudden dramatic change.”

Right.

The change in me is significant now, but not exaggeratedly so.

Lu Li continued to listen.

”So, according to my speculation,” the young blogger said slowly, ”if someone were to unlock all the gene locks in their body, they would first gain a body at the peak of human physical capabilities. For example, if you were nearsighted, your vision would immediately become very, very good, and the same would apply to hearing and perception. Your stamina would become very enduring, with explosive power even greater than Tyson’s. These are the most basic physical changes.”

Do I now have more explosive power than Tyson?

Lu Li decided to watch the entire video before trying it out.

”From then on, even if you don’t actively try to evolve, your body will continuously adapt to the environment, subtly progressing towards a ’godlike’ physique, until one day you truly become a god!”

The young blogger continued his explanation, ”Of course, if you want to have a specific skill, like x-ray vision, you can keep suggesting to yourself to evolve in that direction. When your body receives the command and absorbs enough energy, you could really have x-ray vision.”

At this point, the young blogger became very serious, ”Every time you actively evolve, the energy required could be vast. If your body’s energy is insufficient for the evolution, it could become harmful, possibly causing your body to collapse. If this happens, remember to replenish with high-calorie food immediately, just like a machine needs energy to process objects.”

He spoke with quite a bit of authority.

It seemed as though someone could truly unlock gene locks and evolve endlessly.

Though the young blogger humorously but seriously explained how unlocking gene locks could work, he inadvertently helped Lu Li a lot.

He could choose the direction of his evolution.

As long as he had enough energy to support it.

The video ended here.

Even though Lu Li wasn’t sure if his gene locks were completely unlocked, as the blogger described, he knew he could try.

He closed his phone and sat there pondering, ”I can try to choose to evolve a certain part of my body. If evolution really happens, it means my gene locks are completely unlocked as the blogger described.”

Which aspect would be best to evolve?

For a moment, he couldn’t think of anything else and instinctively recalled ”The Golden Eyes.”

Well, mainly because he was too poor.

If he could have x-ray vision, not only could he look at beauties however he wanted...

And perhaps, with x-ray vision, he could earn a lot of money and completely resolve his financial woes.

Lu Li vowed that his desire for x-ray vision wasn’t driven by pervy thoughts...

Oh well.

Let’s not deceive ourselves.

Lu Li admitted he was indeed a bit of a perv.

There was no other way. His previous natural and acquired conditions didn’t allow him to date many girlfriends.

As a youthful and vigorous man, he surely had such thoughts.

Just as he was thinking, his stomach growled.

Lu Li recalled that he hadn’t eaten since last night.

Along with ”possible evolution” consuming a lot of body energy.

Feeling hungry was perfectly normal now.

”I’ll go find something to eat, then suggest to myself to evolve x-ray vision and see if it works.”

Lu Li rummaged through his closet.

Looking for some clean clothes to wear.

And then, he finally discovered the first downside of becoming thinner and more handsome.

His clothes no longer fit...

”Ugh, I still have to pay 800 rent today. I’ll buy new clothes after the payday.”

So Lu Li had to wear his old clothes. Though baggy, they offered a bit of a hip-hop vibe, better than going out shirtless.

...

Heading out.

Down the stairs.

Just as he reached the ground, two female students, around eighteen or nineteen, approached.

Upon seeing Lu Li, the girl with a ponytail stared straight at him.

The other girl, wearing glasses, was more reserved but still stole secret glances at Lu Li’s face from time to time.

At first, Lu Li didn’t pay much attention.

Until he walked several steps away.

His enhanced hearing picked up on the girls’ conversation behind him.

”Wow, he’s so handsome.”

”Yeah, I’ve never seen a guy this handsome, way more than Yi Yangqianxi.”

Tsk!

Good taste indeed!

Accidentally hearing the girls praise his looks, Lu Li’s mood improved a lot.

He exited the community.

Heading towards the noodle shop.

There weren’t many people at this time.

Still, most women on the street frequently glanced at him.

This made the formerly ”ugly” Lu Li feel secretly pleased.

Bro had been ugly for so many years, finally getting to enjoy the perks of being handsome.

Arriving at the noodle shop.

Lu Li found a seat near the entrance, ”Boss lady, I’d like a bowl of braised meat noodles.”

”Would you like any add-ons?”

The boss lady, in her thirties with a pleasant appearance, stared at Lu Li’s face.

Lu Li, short on money, dared not splurge on add-ons, ”Just the braised meat noodles, no extras.”

The boss lady kept looking at him, ”Alright, just a moment, please.”

Soon after,

The boss lady personally brought over a bowl of noodles.

This puzzled Lu Li. The boss lady personally serving noodles?

There were several idle waitstaff chatting in the shop!

The boss lady placed the bowl in front of Lu Li, ”Handsome, your noodles are ready.”

Lu Li picked up his chopsticks, casually responded, ”Thank you.”

He was about to eat when he noticed the bowl had one large and one small piece of braised meat.

Lu Li was taken aback. He’d eaten here before; the braised meat noodles usually had either one large or two small pieces, never one large and one small!

With it being around three or four in the afternoon, there weren’t many patrons in the noodle shop.

The boss lady stood nearby, not leaving, proactively starting a conversation, ”I’ve never seen you before, a new resident?”

”I’ve lived here for a while. Maybe you didn’t notice me before.”

Lu Li spoke the truth.

He often ate there before, but the boss lady never gave him a second glance, let alone personally bringing him noodles.

The boss lady still didn’t leave, ”No way. If a handsome young man like you came often, I’d remember.”

They casually chatted for a short while until more customers gradually arrived, and the boss lady returned to the register.

Finished eating.

Leaving the noodle shop.

Lu Li looked up at the blue sky, feeling an urge to laugh out loud.

Schoolgirls say I’m handsome?

Special treatment even while eating noodles?

The boss lady initiated small talk with me?

This had never happened before, Lu Li wouldn’t have dared dream of it!

I’ve turned the tables!

I see hope now!

With this handsome face, finding a girlfriend won’t be a problem anymore!

Lu Li felt like tears might flow.

So many years single, now I finally see promise.

Well, whether or not I find a girlfriend,

I’ll try evolving x-ray vision later and see if it works.

If it does, it’ll mean I’m truly different from other people.

Then I’d have made it big!

For now, although he hadn’t confirmed his speculation, Lu Li felt like Earth couldn’t contain him anymore.

Earn money?

Live in luxury housing?

Find a girlfriend?

Those would be trivial!

If I can evolve endlessly, getting just x-ray vision means earning money would be effortless!

What luxury home couldn’t I buy then?

Which beautiful girlfriend couldn’t I find?

And by then, I’d possess unimaginable power.

Should I consider ruling the country then?

Hmm, taking over the country might be too extreme.

Maybe just abstaining from beef will suffice.

Anyway, Lu Li knows he will gradually stand atop the world.

People will remember there once existed such a being.

The world will remember his resounding and great name—Cosmic Emperor Frieza...

Eh.

Wait.

This is all mixed up.

Should be me, the non-beef-eating Lulisa!
