Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: What’s the Most Expensive Phone You Have?

Arriving at the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face.

Lu Li habitually glanced at his reflection in the mirror.

Suddenly, he noticed that the face which had become gaunt from hunger a few days ago had now become ”plump” again.

”Huh?”

Lu Li felt a bit surprised.

”A few days ago, my eyes were sunken from losing weight, and overnight I’ve recovered?”

He vaguely sensed that it might not just be his stomach that had passively evolved; his body should have undergone some evolution too.

As for what abilities he specifically evolved, he couldn’t fully determine yet.

What he could be certain of was that his body had self-regulating capabilities, and it was the kind that adjusts rapidly.

Lu Li speculated that if his body’s energy was insufficient, his body would automatically enter ”power-saving mode”.

That is, it would actively lose weight and lower bodily functions.

If energy replenishment was sufficient.

Then the body would return to the ”optimal ratio” state.

The previous rapid weight loss was likely due to this.

”Indeed, I’m evolving every day; I just haven’t noticed it.”

Feeling his body brimming with vitality, Lu Li felt very satisfied inside.

He picked up his toothbrush.

Applied the toothpaste.

Then brushed in front of the mirror.

Brushing his teeth.

While looking at that perfect face in the mirror.

He couldn’t help but secretly admire himself, ”I am damn handsome!”

Sigh.

What’s the point of being handsome?

Still haven’t found a girlfriend.

Lu Li actually really wanted to have a woman to be with.

Forget a girlfriend, even a mutually beneficial relationship would do.

No choice, been too starved for too long.

He was genuinely ”hungry”.

...

Freshened up and done.

Went downstairs to buy eight buns and ate them all.

Afterwards, Lu Li found a bank to exchange US Dollars into RMB.

According to today’s exchange rate, three thousand US Dollars exchanged for twenty-one thousand five hundred eighty-seven point seven RMB.

The previously empty wallet, with more than twenty thousand added, suddenly became full again.

Lu Li pondered that since his phone was broken and he had some spare money on hand, should he buy a better phone?

After all, now being a leader, he couldn’t use a mediocre phone.

Since online shopping wouldn’t deliver today.

And he’d have to go back to work tomorrow.

He simply decided to visit a physical store.

In the phone shop.

Maybe because everyone was still sleeping on this weekend morning, there wasn’t anyone in the store at this time.

Lu Li looked through the glass counter, pondering which phone suited his current status.

A female sales clerk in her thirties approached enthusiastically, ”Hey handsome, what kind of phone are you looking to buy?”

What kind of phone?

Lu Li previously used a Xiaomi phone.

His parents bought it during school; it was relatively cheap, costing about a thousand or so.

Now he was more financially stable.

And stepping into society.

Couldn’t use a cheap phone anymore?

Had to get something better!

Pricier, relatively speaking!

Thinking about how he won a competition yesterday and earned over twenty thousand.

Lu Li, feeling affluent, asked, ”What’s the most expensive phone in the store?”

As soon as these words came out, all three clerks in the store turned their gaze towards him.

The woman who spoke seemed surprised that Lu Li wanted the most expensive rather than the most suitable, and asked back, ”The most expensive?”

Lu Li nodded, ”Yeah, go ahead and tell me!”

The female clerk hesitated and then said, ”Currently, the most expensive phone with stock in our store is the latest Huawei foldable phone, priced around twenty thousand. Want me to get it for you?”

Lu Li coughed, ”Great, but I don’t want it.”

The female clerk almost spit out blood, thinking, after all that, you don’t want it?

The other two or three clerks were also bewildered by Lu Li’s odd behavior.

No choice, it was too expensive.

Lu Li did have twenty thousand.

His wallet currently held about twenty-four thousand, enough for the Huawei foldable phone.

But the problem is, he only had about twenty-four thousand; he couldn’t justify spending most of it on a phone, right?

Yeah, he originally thought a phone costing over ten thousand was already very expensive, little did he know there were pricier ones here.

Finally, under the recommendation of the female clerk, Lu Li spent nearly twelve thousand to buy a Huawei Mate 60 RS Extraordinary Master.

In profound black, it looked very impressive.

Even though he spent almost twelve thousand at once, Lu Li felt very delighted inside.

He’s never used such a good phone in his life.

This time, he finally fulfilled a dream.

As for spending that much money, Lu Li didn’t feel the least bit heartbroken.

After all, he already planned today’s agenda.

Planning to visit several lottery shops during the holiday while he had plenty of time.

With his clairvoyant ability, couldn’t he earn back twelve thousand?

...

Left the phone store, unable to put his new phone down.

Lu Li was about to hail a ride to a further lottery shop.

Suddenly, he remembered it had been a few days since he scratched cards at the lottery shop near his neighborhood.

”I suppose those scratch cards with little prizes have been sold by now?”

Lu Li decided to check locally first.

If they hadn’t stocked new ones, he could then go elsewhere.

Arrived at the sports lottery shop.

The shop was still empty except for the owner.

The bald-headed owner seemed to recognize Lu Li and greeted enthusiastically as he walked in, ”Young man, back for more scratch cards?”

Lu Li responded with a sound, casually asking, ”Have you stocked new scratch cards yet?”

At this, the owner had a mixed expression, ”They’ve almost sold out, but it’s indeed a bit odd. Last time you won quite a prize, so I recommended them to regulars. They all ended up losing their shirts and cursed me badly.”

Lu Li couldn’t help but sweat a little, thinking those scratch cards with any prize had basically been picked out and scratched by him. How could anyone win anything from the leftovers?

He didn’t waste words with the owner.

After all, what he did was somewhat conspicuous.

Better to remain as unfamiliar with the owner as possible.

Otherwise, it could cause unnecessary trouble for himself.

Lu Li straightforwardly said, ”Give me a few books of scratch cards to choose from.”

”Sure.”

The owner responded, opening a plastic box to take out a book of ”Touch Gold”, ”This one’s just opened, take your time picking.”

Lu Li intended for a quick decision, with no desire to pick through one book at a time, ”Bring out more varieties.”

Seeing Lu Li seemed ready to play big, the owner was pleasantly surprised, ”Okay, okay, I’ll bring out more.”

With that, the owner somewhat crazily took all the scratch cards from the plastic box.

Seeing so many scratch cards laid out, Lu Li eagerly rubbed his hands together.

Today, the goal was to earn more from scratch cards to cover the phone cost.

With that in mind, he activated his clairvoyance.

And began selecting one by one.

He didn’t know if he was particularly lucky today.

After picking up about two or three cards from ”Touch Gold”.

He saw a nice prize.

The prize was a thousand.

”Wow, just a few cards in and there’s a one thousand prize?”

Lu Li blinked and thought to himself, ”Seems like I might earn more than just twelve thousand today.”
