Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: I Became Thinner and More Handsome

Eight-pack abs?

Lu Li was completely stunned!

As someone who gained a lot of weight due to illness, he always had a dream.

That was to slim down to a normal level.

As for having eight-pack abs, he only dared to dream about it.

And now, has his dream come true?

Lu Li couldn’t believe his eyes.

He couldn’t help but rub his eyes, ”Am I dreaming?”

Lu Li uncertainly reached out to touch his abdominal muscles.

The cold touch immediately revealed the firm muscles.

”Really? It’s actually real!”

His first reaction was not overwhelming joy, but uncontrollable fear.

Damn it.

Where did my fat go?

Anyone who suddenly finds their big belly replaced with eight-pack abs would feel extremely shocked!

Lu Li even wondered if he’d been abducted by aliens overnight for a soul-swapping experiment.

Is the body now not his own?

He hurriedly looked around.

To see if the environment had changed.

The bed was still the same bed.

Opposite the window was still the same ”Bright Glasses” yellow billboard.

It seems the environment hasn’t changed.

He was still in the rental room, but his body had changed...

Wait a minute!

Lu Li noticed a hint of something different.

He incredulously glanced at the glasses on the bedside table.

Lu Li then looked up at the clearly visible billboard opposite.

”I’m not wearing glasses, yet I can clearly see the billboard content from across the street?”

Lu Li found it incredible.

He had over six hundred degrees of nearsightedness.

Not to mention seeing the billboard content from across the street.

Without glasses, he couldn’t even see the facial features of someone two meters away, let alone distinguish between human and ghost ten meters away.

Now, at a distance of twenty or thirty meters, he could even see the tiny phone number on the billboard?

He finally confirmed one thing, his body had mutated!

”What’s going on?”

Lu Li hurriedly found clothes and pants to put on.

Rushed quickly to the bathroom to check his own condition in the mirror.

It would have been fine if he hadn’t looked.

But when he did, he was startled.

He saw a handsome guy with sharply defined features in the mirror.

A tall nose bridge.

Deep eyes.

Sensual lips.

As if proportioned with golden ratio on the face.

Lu Li saw the face in the mirror had incredibly fair and smooth skin.

It looked like a male lead stepping out of a comic.

”Is this... Is this me?”

He couldn’t believe it, touching his face.

Just yesterday, he was a chubby guy with a face full of excess flesh.

His skin looked dull and lifeless due to past illness.

And even had some small spots.

Now?

The excess flesh was gone.

The spots on his face were gone too.

What remained was a perfect, handsome, and resolute face!

Lu Li was dumbfounded, ”Have I turned into a handsome guy?”

No wonder he was so shocked.

After all, it had only been a night’s work, and such a huge transformation had occurred.

Anyone else would be bewildered.

He really wanted to ask someone what becoming handsome meant.

Of course, Lu Li actually knew the answer.

Becoming handsome meant he became handsome...

Okay, he was only taken aback for a little while, then he became overjoyed.

”Haha, I became handsome! Haha, I became handsome!”

Lu Li couldn’t help bursting into laughter.

He wouldn’t have to worry about not finding a girlfriend anymore.

At this moment, a neighbor’s angry shout came from next door, ”What the hell are you yelling about! It’s broad daylight, you’re disturbing people’s sleep.”

Damn you for partying at night and sleeping during the day, and yet you act so justified?

Lu Li naturally knew it was the girl from the opposite shared apartment unhappy with his noise.

Feeling good about his newfound handsomeness, he didn’t bother to argue and simply chose not to respond.

”Why did I suddenly become handsome?”

Lu Li felt utterly confounded.

However, one thing is certain.

It’s not just about becoming slimmer, more handsome, and having better eyesight.

There must have been changes in other aspects.

Not noticed for the time being.

He thought he should explore a bit.

Just as he was about to return to the bedroom to check where else had changed.

Suddenly, there was a creak next door.

Then came the sound of ”flip-flop flip-flop” slippers on the floor.

There’s no need to guess; it’s the woman across the hall who likes to go out at night.

Lu Li reckoned she was going to use the bathroom, and so he turned around and left.

He had just reached outside the bathroom.

He saw a girl in a purple nightgown, around 1.7 meters tall and looking about six or seven points out of ten, holding a kettle and yawning, seemingly ready to get water from the kitchen.

Lu Li knew this 21-year-old woman was the one living across from him.

He glanced once and was about to go into his room.

Who would have thought, the listless woman suddenly became spirited when she saw Lu Li.

She blinked and took the initiative to chat, ”Hey handsome, are you here to find someone?”

The residents here, although they usually wouldn’t speak to each other, know what everyone looks like.

It’s quite normal for the woman to not recognize the suddenly handsome Lu Li at first glance.

Initially, when Lu Li heard someone call him handsome, he didn’t react.

Until he saw the woman’s glazed eyes staring at his face.

Lu Li suddenly realized that ”handsome” was being addressed to him!

I never imagined that I would be called handsome without having to buy something!

Lu Li was overjoyed, and casually said, ”I live here, right across.”

The woman stubbornly refused to believe, ”No way, the guy across is a dead fatty.”

Lu Li: ”...”

He really wanted to tell this woman that he was that ”dead fatty.”

But he didn’t get the chance to reply.

The woman seemed to realize something, ”Oh, that dead fatty must’ve been unable to pay rent and subleased the place to you, right?”

Darn, could you stop calling him a dead fatty with every breath?

Lu Li was tempted to curse, but on second thought, now that he’s slimmer and more handsome, he wouldn’t be called a dead fatty anymore. Isn’t that something to be happy about?

His life was about to enter a new Chapter!

With this thought, he muttered ambiguously, ”Uh-huh.”

The woman was still eyeing Lu Li’s face with longing.

She even put on what she thought was a bright smile, extending her hand willingly; ”Welcome to the building, I’m Zhang Xiaoxiao. We’ll be neighbors from now on.”

Lu Li felt his whole world collapsing. To think he’d been living here for over a month and aside from yelling violently at the bathroom door when she needed to use it, she’d never spoken a word to him, let alone offered a handshake.

Is this the treatment reserved for handsome guys?

Lu Li felt a bit pleased inside, reached out to shake hands with her, then casually said, ”Lu Li.”

After the handshake, he didn’t care what she did next and went straight into the bedroom.

As he casually closed the door, he was about to investigate what other changes had taken place in his body.

Suddenly, he heard a faint, infatuated whisper from the kitchen where the woman across the hall was speaking, ”Sisi, you wouldn’t believe it, there’s a new handsome tenant in the apartment I rented. Wow, he’s really handsome, just like a comic book hero. I was going to move out, but now I’ve decided not to...”

Oh man, this woman is seriously infatuated.

Lu Li couldn’t quite handle her.

But it’s not like he could stop her from making a call...

Wait!

The kitchen is over ten meters away from here.

And she seemed to be speaking quite softly.

How could he still hear her so clearly?

Lu Li blinked, ”Looks like my hearing has improved too.”

Getting slimmer, more handsome, better vision and hearing.

He felt there should be more to it.

Just as he was thinking about it, he heard the buzzing sound of a mosquito.

Lu Li instinctively snapped his fingers, and the mosquito’s buzz abruptly stopped.

It felt trivial, and he casually blew on the fingers that had pinched the mosquito.

”My perception has also strengthened.”

Lu Li pondered.

Normally, upon hearing the buzz of a mosquito, one would have to identify its location before finding it.

But just now, he instantly sensed the mosquito’s position the moment he heard the buzzing.

This showed he had become keen; a sign of enhanced perception.

He secretly guessed, ”It seems there’s a high possibility that my body has been enhanced all around.”

Regarding strength, he couldn’t test how much stronger he had become at the moment.

After all, he wasn’t an athlete with precise physical test data at hand.

Lu Li couldn’t help but speculate, ”Could it be that I, like Spider-Man, was bitten by a spider and then mutated?”

But thinking of it, that can’t be right.

He hadn’t been bitten by any animal recently anyway.

If there’s any mutation, it’s probably from eating too many instant noodles, turning into the Instant Noodle Hero.

”No, wait!”

Lu Li suddenly recalled the dream he had last night when he had a high fever, one that seemed surreal and strange.

In the dream, he saw several ”gene symbols” being ”unlocked” one by one.

Then, he remembered the amateur science popularization video he watched before going to bed last night.

Lu Li couldn’t help but make a bold guess, ”Could it be that I’ve unlocked my genetic lock?”

He wasn’t sure if his guess was right, so he decided to look up the short video he hadn’t finished watching yesterday and watch it again.
