Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

Waste utilization? When did gold and silver utensils become waste?

Not to mention the craftsmanship itself, there was also the Black family crest on it. These things were priceless.

But then again, Sirius Black, the current heir of the Black family, did throw them all out!

Evan knew how much Sirius hated these things. In his eyes, these things that reminded him of his unhappy past were rubbish and worthless.

From this perspective, Mundungus was really making use of the waste by stealing them and selling them to others.

But sneaking these things out of the Black family home just felt … wrong…

“I’ll be sure to mention this to Sirius. Maybe he’ll appreciate the idea of ‘recycling,’” Evan said dryly.

“No, Evan, I, you can’t — for the sake of the past…” Mundungus stammered.

It was obvious he was still quite terrified of Sirius. Despite his cowardice, his greed had clouded his judgment enough to steal from Sirius’s house.

“Cut it out. If it weren’t for the sake of past dealings, I’d have handed you in already,” said Evan, waving his hand dismissively. There was no satisfaction in scaring this pathetic man. “You’re lucky Harry or Kreacher didn’t catch you stealing these. They wouldn’t have let you off so easily.”

If Harry had caught Mundungus stealing from Sirius, there was no telling what he might have done.

After a moment’s thought, Evan decided to let it slide. It wasn’t as if these things were truly priceless. If Mundungus dared to go too far, Kreacher would keep him in check.

As for the act of stealing itself, that was a matter best left to Dumbledore or Sirius to deal with.

“Please, Evan, Hermione, Elaine — if you three don’t say anything…” Mundungus begged.

Before he could finish, he was interrupted by Elaine, “It’s so cold, why should we stand here and freeze!”

“Hurry up.” Evan urged, “We’re not interested in how you got your hands on this stuff.”

Mundungus was panting heavily, his eyes wandering between Evan, Hermione and Elaine. It was unknown what he was thinking, but his hands did not stop, and he deftly packed all the things on the ground into the suitcase.

On the way to the Shrieking Shack, Mundungus continued his litany of excuses, even offering to hand over the entire case of stolen goods.

It wasn’t until Evan threatened to hit him with a jinx if he didn’t stop rambling that Mundungus finally reluctantly shut up.

Climbing a slope, the four arrived at the Shrieking Shack. Because of the higher ground, the wind here was even stronger than below.

The cold gusts howled through the creaking wooden boards of the Shack, sounding eerily like a banshee’s wail.

Whatever mood should accompany a transaction involving a corpse, Evan wasn’t sure. All he knew was that he wanted to finish this deal as quickly as possible and retreat to the warmth of a cozy pub for a steaming mug of butterbeer. ᚱ𝔞ℕ𝘰𝐁È𝓢

On the way, Hermione quietly discussed the matter with Evan and they agreed to report it to Dumbledore for him to handle.

As for Elaine, she had no opinion at all and didn’t care whether Mundungus stole anything or not, as long as it wasn’t hers.

She wrapped her cloak tightly around herself as she went and huddled behind Evan, using his body to shield herself from the biting wind.

“It’s freezing — hurry up, Dung, and bring out the item,” Evan urged.

“It’s in here,” Mundungus panted, slapping the side of his case for emphasis. “You should know how difficult it was for me to get this thing. I took a big risk. This is a special contraband. If someone finds out that I’m collecting this thing, I’m doomed!”

‘Your life was finished twenty years ago,’ Evan thought.

“Did you meet my specifications?” Evan asked directly.

“No problem. A fresh corpse of a house-elf. The death time was three days ago. It was a natural death,” said Mundungus, grinning smugly. “This kind of thing is hard to come by. I have contacted a lot of people. If you just wanted a house-elf corpse, I would have got it a long time ago.”

He opened the case and found a compartment underneath the pile of “junk”.

Tapping the compartment with his wand, it clicked open to reveal the body of a house-elf.

The elf’s attire resembled filthy rags, and he appeared to be quite old. His ears were tufted with thick white hair, his wrinkled skin bore scars, and his tennis ball-sized eyes bulged unnaturally.

He had suffered a lot when he was alive, and his small body was covered with scars.

Anyone who saw this specific corpse would come to this conclusion, but this was also the current situation of life for most house-elves.

They were known for punishing themselves without mercy, with the goal of torturing themselves to death.

Hermione, who was standing next to Evan, cried out softly, unable to bear to look at the house-elf inside.

In fact, her discomfort with Evan’s plan to use the house-elf’s corpse for summoning a demon had been growing. No matter how she analyzed it, this magic didn’t seem like something a proper wizard would practice, and its consequences were unknown.

Elaine took a quick glance at the corpse before sticking out her tongue in distaste and retreating to the back.

“Well?” asked Mundungus.

Evan pulled out his wand and cast a spell, lightly touching the body of the house-elf.

In the dim green light, a house-elf in soul state appeared from the tip of his wand, in a trance.

The green light spun, and the soul grew larger and larger, soon becoming about the size of a normal house-elf.

It looked at Evan blankly with a confused expression, then seemed to have heard some unseen command and bent down and bowed to Evan.

Mundungus looked at the sudden appearance of the house-elf soul and the magic used by Evan in surprise, his mouth wide open. He had no idea what kind of magic this was. Slowly, he lowered his own wand, though moments earlier, he’d been planning to use a Memory Charm on the boy.

This was his original plan, which he had planned on the way to the Shrieking Shack. Although he had heard that Evan was very strong, because he was only fifteen years old, Mundungus still looked down on him in his heart, thinking that those were just exaggerated statements in the newspapers to attract people’s attention.

Now that he had seen the magic that Evan had used with his own eyes, he realized just how reckless his earlier assumptions had been…

“It’s exactly what I needed!” Evan declared, snapping the connection between his wand and the house-elf’s corpse with a sharp upward flick.

He was quite satisfied with the state of the corpse. It was very weak and had no magical powers.

Because he had just died, part of the original owner’s soul remained in the body. It was very gentle and obedient — precisely what Evan had hoped for.
