Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

“As for what we were discussing earlier, I think Hermione is right,” Evan said, sharing his opinion. He noticed the unconvinced expressions on Harry and Ron’s faces. “It’s not that the spell itself is dangerous, but Harry, your behavior — using a spell on someone without understanding what it does — is indeed irresponsible.”

“The Prince wouldn’t leave behind dangerous spells,” Harry said stubbornly. “He’s not a Death Eater. I trust him.”

“I also think he’s not a bad guy, we agree on this point,” said Evan.

He didn’t want to argue with Harry. At this point, Harry had absolute trust in the Prince, and convincing him otherwise wasn’t going to happen overnight.

If anyone criticized the Prince, Harry would likely get defensive, just as he had earlier, leading to another argument.

This kind of thing was actually easy to understand. People formed initial impressions differently.

With his identity hidden, the notes left by Snape helped Harry shine in Potions class and earned him initial favor. The notes also contained many annotations on non-magical things that were consistent with Harry’s views. In other words, Harry and Snape in his student days were more compatible, and the Half-Blood Prince directly gained his trust.

In the face of such trust, Harry would not believe Hermione’s unsubstantiated speculations, no matter how reasonable they were.

“I believe the Prince is not a bad wizard, but we are not sure of his true identity after all,” Evan continued. “So, it’s better to be careful. We can check the magic left by the Prince in advance, find an empty classroom, use them one by one to ensure they’re safe before using them on others.”

“That’s a good idea. Let’s check all the magic left by the Prince,” Ron agreed. “I bet that book’s got tons of fun spells like Levicorpus.”

“Fine, I have no objections if that’ll put your minds at ease,” Harry said, conceding.

“I agree with this suggestion. It is much better to check all the magic left on the book than to use it directly on people and cause irreversible consequences,” Hermione hesitated for a moment and then said, “But Evan must be present during the tests.”

“Why? Harry and I can do this alone, and Evan is so busy…”

“Because Evan is strong enough to deal with any unexpected situations that may occur, our current assumption is that the magic left by the guy who calls himself Prince is very dangerous,” said Hermione. “And honestly, he gives me that impression. A proper wizard wouldn’t create a spell like Levicorpus.”

“That’s just prejudice! Harry’s dad used that spell.”

The endless debate began again. If they ignored external factors such as time and physical strength, they could argue for a whole day without anyone being able to convince anyone else.

Fortunately, Ginny showed up at this time and diverted attention.

“I just saw Professor McGonagall, and she asked me to give this to you,” she said, handing over a scroll of parchment.

The familiar thin, slanting handwriting on the parchment was unmistakably Dumbledore’s.

“Thanks, Ginny … Dumbledore’s class is on… Monday evening.,” Harry pulled open the parchment and showed it to Evan. He felt suddenly light and happy, and he shifted his focus from the Prince to other things. “By the way, Ginny, want to join us to Hogsmeade?”

“I’m going with Dean — might see you there,” she replied, waving at them as she left.

“Oh, speaking of Hogsmeade, sorry, Harry,” Ron chimed in. “I forgot to mention — I’m going with Lavender. She wants me to check out some new café that just opened. It’s quite popular recently, I tried to say no, but you know how clingy she can be!”

Of course, everyone did know. Since last term, Ron had been constantly complaining about Lavender — how she was too clingy, didn’t give him any space, and left him no time to hang out with his friends. At one point, he even talked about taking a break from her, but that was all talk — his actions told a different story.

“All right. So, what about the rest of you? Any plans for today?” Harry asked, looking at Evan, Hermione, and Elaine, who was still focused on her breakfast and completely uninterested in the Prince’s identity or dangerous spells.

“I’ve got a little something to take care of,” Evan said. He planned to meet Mundungus Fletcher at the Hog’s Head.

He wanted to buy something from this guy, not some very common contraband.

Evan needed a fresh, recently dead house-elf corpse.

He had no special hobby of collecting elf corpses or doing something with them, but he needed that thing to activate the demon altar under the kitchens.

This was the necessary material to summon the demon. Since Dumbledore’s second lesson was on Monday, Evan planned to get this thing now.

Mundungus had written to tell him that he had found a body that met his requirements!

“We’re planning to visit Honeydukes first,” said Hermione. She was aware of Evan’s unusual purchase, having helped him redraw the magical runes for the demonic altar. “Then we’ll get some everyday supplies and spellcasting materials, and also…”

“Pygmy Puffs!” Elaine interrupted.

“Right, and we also need to buy some Pygmy Puffs. These magical creatures are very popular among girls recently.”

“Is that the weird round creature with a very long, thin pink tongue that keeps sticking out and moving around like a snake’s?” said Harry, remembering the scene of Ginny playing with that thing that day.

“That’s it. No one raised them before. After Fred and George put them on the shelves of their shop, Pygmy Puffs have become popular. Many girls think they are cute.”

What a strange aesthetic view, such a strange creature suddenly became popular among girls.

A round monster that could only stick out his tongue and lick around. Evan couldn’t understand what was so cute about this thing, and why girls liked it.

Even Elaine, who was usually indifferent to such things, had insisted on getting a Pygmy Puff.

But then again, this was a trend.

The items sold in Fred and George’s shop were becoming more and more popular, and many of their seemingly inexplicable things were becoming trends among young wizards.

“Anyway, we have a lot of shopping to do today, Harry, are you joining us?”

“I’d better forget it,” Harry said after a moment’s hesitation. He thought it would be better not to join Evan, Hermione and Elaine in their shopping trip to pick out some cute Pygmy Puffs and spell materials. “I’m going to sit at the Three Broomsticks for a while. You can come find me when you’re done…”
