Build a Fifty-meter Giant Mecha at the Beginning!

170: What! What! Is China entering the lightspeed era?At Academician Zhang Yuanhang’s command, all Sentinel Mecha in Space sprang into action.

The Ion Engine also began operating at full power.

At this time, Hong Bo and the others were piloting their Aerospace Fighter next to the modified Kunpeng Space Freighter.

”Whoosh!”

Propelled by the Ion Engine, the massive Kunpeng Space Freighter rapidly picked up speed.

In a flash, it surpassed the maximum speed of the Aerospace Fighter.

”Shancheng, this is Hong Bo. The Kunpeng Space Freighter has already exceeded the maximum speed of our Aerospace Fighter.”

”We can’t keep up!”

Hong Bo stared at the rear of the modified Kunpeng Space Freighter, completely dumbfounded.

At the same time, he wondered if he should suggest to his superiors that their Suzaku Aerospace Fighter also be equipped with the new engine.

”Keep chasing!”

Everyone’s hearts were in their throats, nervously watching the data on the screen.

The Kunpeng Space Freighter’s speed had now reached one-fiftieth the speed of light.

At this rate, in another five minutes, the Kunpeng Space Freighter would reach the Ion Engine’s limit: one-tenth the speed of light.

Zhang Yuanhang was also very nervous; he wasn’t worried about the Ion Engine, but rather whether the Kunpeng Space Freighter could withstand it.

”Speed has reached one-twentieth the speed of light.”

...”Speed has reached one-tenth the speed of light, Academician Zhang Yuanhang, we succeeded.”

...Everyone turned to look at Zhang Yuanhang, their faces full of smiles.

”Good, good!”

Zhang Yuanhang was also very excited; he hadn’t expected the Kunpeng Space Freighter he built to endure.

”Tell Hong Bo and the others to come back; they don’t need to go anymore.”

”Continue the experiment with the Sentinel Mecha.”

Zhang Yuanhang turned and said to the communications officer. He had previously told Hong Bo and the others to follow the Kunpeng Space Freighter in case it disintegrated, so they could retrieve the Ion Engine.

Now that the Kunpeng Space Freighter hadn’t disintegrated, Hong Bo and the others were naturally no longer needed.

”Yes, Academician Zhang Yuanhang!”

The communications officer immediately relayed this message to Hong Bo and the others.

In Space.

”No way, we chased for half a day, and now we’re not needed anymore.”

A young Aerospace Fighter pilot complained.

”The experiment must have succeeded, so they don’t need us anymore.”

Hong Bo said.

Everyone’s eyes lit up.

It’s good that it succeeded!

Shancheng.

”Let The Top Leader and the others know about this news.”

”I need to get busy now, so I’ll be leaving first.”

Zhang Yuanhang said, seeing that he was no longer needed.

”Mhm, mhm!”

Everyone nodded.

Zhang Yuanhang waved to Everyone, then left. Zhang Yuanhang still needed to go back and design a larger, stronger, and more advanced hull to build Space battleships.

As soon as the Capital received the news, The Top Leader summoned all the major leaders of the Capital.

”Director of the Space Administration, please come sit in front.” The Top Leader waved for the Director of the Space Administration, who was sitting in the back, to come forward.

”We’ll need your advice later.”

The Top Leader said with a smile.

Now that Xiao Zhang had pushed the speed to one-tenth the speed of light, Huaxia would be able to see much further.

”Okay, okay.”

Seeing The Top Leader say this, the Director of the Space Administration said nothing more and sat in the front.

Seeing that almost Everyone had arrived, The Top Leader stood up.

”Everyone, just now, I received an exciting piece of news.”

”Our Academician Zhang Yuanhang has invented a new engine whose maximum speed reaches one-tenth the speed of light.”

The Top Leader’s smile nearly reached his forehead.

”What!”

”Chief, did you just say one-tenth the speed of light!”

”My goodness, Academician Zhang Yuanhang actually invented such a terrifying engine!”

”No wonder Academician Zhang Yuanhang didn’t let anyone disturb him.”

...Everyone present stood up, smiles plastered on every face.

After Everyone calmed down a bit, The Top Leader waved for them to sit down.

Seeing this, Everyone returned to their seats.

”And just now, Academician Zhang Yuanhang conducted an experiment, and the Ion Engine successfully propelled the Kunpeng Space Freighter to one-tenth the speed of light.”

”And it took less than ten minutes in total!”

The Top Leader continued.

”Holy cow!”

”This is great, great! With this, our speed in developing Mars can be a step faster.”

”That’s right, travel to and from Mars will only take a few hours in the future.”

”Perhaps we can even go to more distant places, other planets, like Jupiter.”

...The high-ranking officials present said.

The Top Leader also nodded in agreement.

Regarding the major planets within the Solar System, humanity’s understanding of them is pitifully small compared to the secrets they hold.

Overall, these planets are very valuable for human research.

It was just that it was difficult for Huaxians to go to those planets before, as the one-way journey was not short.

However, things have changed now.

The invention of the Ion Engine has turned the entire Solar System into Huaxia’s backyard.

”Director of the Space Administration, it’s your turn now.”

”Come, tell us, which planet should we focus on in the future?”

The Top Leader looked at the Director of the Space Administration with a smile.

”Chief, and all leaders, I suggest we first research Jupiter.”

The Director of the Space Administration said.

”Why?”

Someone asked.

”Firstly, Jupiter is the largest planet in our Solar System, and secondly, it has the most moons, and its largest moon has a diameter of over five thousand kilometers.”

”You know, Mars’s diameter is only a little over six thousand seven hundred kilometers.”

The Director of the Space Administration said.

After hearing the Director of the Space Administration’s words, Everyone present nodded.

”Alright, then you go and prepare. In the future, your Aerospace Administration will be responsible for the work of researching Jupiter.”

The Top Leader said.

”Yes, Chief!”

The Director of the Space Administration left cheerfully.

”Everyone, next we will discuss the second matter.”

”Should we announce the birth of the Ion Engine to the outside world?”

The Top Leader inwardly wanted to announce it, but the Ion Engine was of great importance, and a decision could only be made after discussing it with Everyone.

”I think this Ion Engine should not be announced to the outside world!”

”No, no, no, I think it should be announced to the outside world. If we don’t show our strength, how can we make other countries align with us!”

”That’s right, if it weren’t for our strong technology and increasingly powerful military, would the Middle East lean towards us!”

”That’s right, we must show our full strength to make countries like the Eagle feel fear deep down, which will not only maintain our position but also avoid war!”

...Everyone nodded in agreement. Only by being so powerful as to make Everyone fearful and despairing.

Can war be avoided!

”Alright, then let’s announce it!”

The Top Leader said, seeing that most people agreed.

Thus, major news channels in Huaxia urgently broadcast a news report.

”Today, our country’s scientist, Academician Zhang Yuanhang, invented the Ion Engine, with a maximum speed reaching one-tenth the speed of light.”

”In the near future, the footsteps of us Huaxians will spread across every planet in the Solar System!”

...
