Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 126: Chapter 109: A Taste of Their Own Medicine

Inside the Unstable Rift, within the Dimension Plane, Li Qian and Chu Xiran sensed the Heaven and Earth Energy beginning to turn violent. Without a second thought, they immediately fled.

Of course, they didn’t flee far. Instead, they hid within a small hill a few kilometers from the lake.

This was inside a Dimensional Rift, after all. It was unfamiliar territory; if they ventured too far, they would undoubtedly run into other dangers.

”BOOM!” The very next moment after they hid, the small lake suddenly exploded.

Ice shards, lake water, mud, and shattered stone mixed together, flying everywhere. In an instant, the entire lake became a picture of apocalyptic disaster.

”ROAR...” The Demon Dragon Rhinoceros violently burst out from the frozen lake, then threw its head back and let out an exceedingly furious roar.

One could clearly see that on the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros’s abdomen, a scale roughly the size of a cushion was shattered beyond repair.

The flesh beneath the scale, and even the surrounding area, was coated in a layer of frost. It was a gruesome sight.

”ROAR...” The Demon Dragon Rhinoceros roared in fury again. With its roars, waves of black, tangible Energy suddenly surged forth.

The black Energy gushed out, instantly covering the injured scale.

Seeing this, Li Qian and Chu Xiran exchanged a glance. They both realized what it was doing.

Logically, this was the perfect opportunity to launch a sneak attack. Unfortunately, neither Li Qian nor Chu Xiran possessed that kind of strength.

To attack rashly would be suicide, a pointless gesture—they would never make it back alive.

’Good thing we were fast!’ Hidden within the hill, Li Qian let out a long sigh of relief at the sight, thankful for his own decisiveness.

’If we had been even a second slower, the consequences would have been unimaginable.’

A faint smile touched Li Qian’s lips as he watched the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros rage impotently, venting its fury without a target or any recourse.

But the next second, his smile froze. Without any warning, a missile suddenly shot out from another small hill not far from where he and Chu Xiran were hiding.

”Son of a bitch, there’s a camper!” Li Qian cursed as he saw the missile flying toward them, trailing flames at a relatively slow speed.

The missile wasn’t flying very fast. Either he or Chu Xiran could have easily intercepted it just by summoning a Pet Beast.

But if they chose to intercept it, they would inevitably reveal their position. Then, what awaited them would surely be a fate of utter damnation.

Don’t forget, the Emperor Level Demon Dragon Rhinoceros was just a short distance away!

It was their own fault. In their moment of complacency, they had forgotten that the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros had been lured to this Unstable Rift by the Mechanical Desecration Association.

They should have realized sooner that the Mechanical Desecration Association surely had something prepared inside the Unstable Rift.

In that critical moment, Li Qian’s mind raced.

Soon, he made a decision.

’Since you don’t want us to get out of here alive, you can stay behind too!’

Having made his decision, Li Qian immediately gave Chu Xiran a meaningful look and quickly summoned Qizai.

Qizai possessed the ability of Flying; at a time like this, summoning it undoubtedly gave them a better chance of escaping alive.

At the same time, taking his cue, Chu Xiran summoned her Electric Rat.

”Electric Shock!” Chu Xiran commanded immediately after summoning the Electric Rat.

The Electric Rat received the order, and its entire body suddenly crackled with electricity.

Under its control, a bolt of electricity shot out, forming a small lightning strike.

The small lightning bolt accurately struck the incoming missile.

BOOM!

The missile was hit and exploded in mid-air.

It was clear the missile’s payload wasn’t very powerful.

From this, they could deduce that the hidden Mechanical Desecration Association member’s real goal was not to kill them directly, but to draw the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros’s attention and have the beast do the job for them.

The member probably also intended to create a diversion to escape, but they had misjudged how Li Qian and Chu Xiran would react and respond.

They didn’t just wait for death to come to them.

While Chu Xiran intercepted the missile, Li Qian commanded the re-summoned Qizai to counter-attack the location it was fired from.

”Water Arrow: Thousand Arrows Attack!” To ensure the hidden member of the Mechanical Desecration Association was flushed out, Li Qian ordered Qizai to unhesitatingly unleash its widest area-of-effect Skill.

The goal wasn’t to kill, but simply to carpet the entire area to ensure the opponent could no longer hide.

”Shit!” The hidden member of the Mechanical Desecration Association felt his scalp tingle as he watched this scene unfold—hundreds of water arrows raining down on his position.

He knew very well that this attack, though it looked majestic and intimidating, posed no real threat to him.

What truly terrified him was that regardless of whether he intercepted the attack or defended with a Skill, there was a chance—no, a one-hundred-percent certainty—that the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros would discover his hiding spot.

If he were discovered, his fate would, without a doubt, be miserable.

”Lunatic!” he cursed. With no time to think, the hidden member of the Mechanical Desecration Association directly activated a defensive Skill.

A Light Shield materialized out of thin air, blocking all the Water Arrows in one specific spot.

Without a doubt, that spot was his hiding place.

Li Qian couldn’t help but grin when he saw this.

’Now we’re both exposed. Let’s see who the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros chooses.’

The Demon Dragon Rhinoceros made its choice quickly. With bloodshot eyes, it charged out as if it had gone mad.

Its target was the hiding place of the Mechanical Desecration Association member.

Li Qian and Chu Xiran were Commander Level and Elite Level respectively, while the hidden member of the Mechanical Desecration Association was Dominator Level.

Therefore, the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros instinctively charged toward the stronger Energy signature.

In its mind, the one who had just grievously injured it must have been the vermin with the stronger Energy signature.

’Nice!’ Li Qian cheered inwardly. He immediately mounted Qizai’s back without hesitation, preparing to escape.

Seeing this, Chu Xiran decisively followed suit, climbing on behind him.

Since their opponent had tried to divert the disaster onto them, they couldn’t blame Li Qian for giving them a taste of their own medicine.

With the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros charging straight for the hidden member of the Mechanical Desecration Association, Li Qian and Chu Xiran saw their window of opportunity to escape.
