Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 120: Chapter 103: Weakness

Because the attack’s trajectory was predictable, and with a clear view and Elder Tie’s pointed warning, everyone safely dodged the Red Energy Ball.

”Continue.” After effortlessly dodging the Rhino Demon Beast’s attack, Li Qian allowed a faint smile to touch his lips. He charged back into the chasm, ready to give it another go.

With the experience from the first assault, the group’s coordination was much more practiced on the second attempt.

They commanded their Pet Beasts to unleash a variety of Skills, with almost no wasted Energy or conflicting attacks.

Another barrage of Skills rained down, and just as expected, the Rhino Demon Beast once again let out a series of roars.

After three such rounds of attacks, things looked impressive on the surface, but Li Qian couldn’t help but frown.

The attacks had certainly inflicted some damage on the Rhino Demon Beast, but everyone could see it was far from fatal.

The defensive power of the black Scale Armor covering its entire head was terrifyingly high. Most of the attacks’ power was simply deflected by it.

What’s more, from the Rhino Demon Beast’s perspective, their repeated attacks were like a series of provocations against a superior being, only serving to stoke its ferocity.

ROAR...

The Rhino Demon Beast’s eyes turned crimson, its snorts were like thunder, and its massive, abyss-like maw unleashed a series of terrifying, soul-shaking roars.

It was furious. It was frantic.

Even Li Qian could clearly feel its rage and frenzy.

It struggled relentlessly, heaving itself forward, trying to break free from the confines of the Unstable Rift.

And it was having some effect.

When they first saw it, only most of its head had been exposed.

Now, its entire menacing head had pushed through.

As much as they hated to admit it, the fact remained... After all this time, with so many of them attacking in unison, they hadn’t managed to drive the Rhino Demon Beast back. Instead, it had managed to push forward even more.

The situation was turning grim.

Li Qian looked at the Rhino Demon Beast in the Unstable Rift, his voice laced with worry. ”Elder Tie, this isn’t looking good!”

”It’s not ’not good,’ it’s terrible.” Elder Tie frowned and shook his head. ”Even if all of you can keep attacking, my Four-Winged Mantis is about to reach its limit.”

Hearing this, Li Qian glanced at the Four-Winged Mantis. It was still standing motionless, its bladed arms held forward in a fixed posture. He understood immediately.

The chasm in the reservoir only existed, parting the Water, because of the Four-Winged Mantis’s continuous output of Energy.

If it couldn’t hold out, the water would instantly close in. They would be forced to fight in the water, which would be even more troublesome.

”So, what do we do now?” Li Qian asked, feeling a bit lost.

At a time like this, he could only rely on Elder Tie.

If even Elder Tie had no solution, his only option would be to retreat, take his parents, and temporarily leave Lingshui City.

’I may have some Talent, but I’m just a high school student. I can’t hold up the sky if it falls.’

”Continuing to attack blindly like this is pointless.”

Elder Tie swept his gaze over the group and shared his plan. ”I just took a video of the situation and sent it to Shazhou Beast Taming University.”

”The university has professors who specialize in Magical Beast research. For now, our only hope is that they can take an urgent look and find this creature’s weak point.”

”If they can’t find a weak point, just brute-forcing it like this is a waste of Energy and time.”

As he was speaking, his phone suddenly vibrated.

”It’s here! That must be the reply from the university!” Without hesitating, he pulled out his phone and began to read.

Seeing this, Li Qian’s face filled with anticipation.

’I hope the university found a solution.’

”Is there a solution?” Niu Fenjin asked impatiently, before Elder Tie had been reading for more than a moment.

Elder Tie put his phone away and announced the information he had received. ”This beast is called a Demon Dragon Rhinoceros. It looks like a rhinoceros, but it actually has partial Dragon Race blood.”

”Its entire body is covered in tough Scale Armor. Ordinary Skills can barely cause it any significant damage.”

Hearing this, Chujiang River’s eyes suddenly lit up. ”If it’s Dragon Element, does that mean we can use Ice Element Skills against it?”

Elder Tie shook his head, dashing the unrealistic hope that had bloomed in Chujiang River’s mind. ”As for the Ice Element, all we have here are student Li Qian’s Frostfire Salamander and that young lady’s Snowfield Wolf. While they do provide a type advantage, the difference in power is simply too great. Even with the advantage, the effect would be minimal.”

Niu Aihua threw up her hands in frustration. ”So, are you saying we can only stand here and watch? That there’s nothing we can do?”

Elder Tie shook his head again, his tone unchanging. ”No, there is a way. Or rather, there’s a weak point.”

He didn’t keep them in suspense and revealed the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros’s weakness directly. ”There are five lighter-colored scales on the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros’s abdomen. The defense of those five scales is far weaker than the others.”

”Only by attacking those five scales can we break through its defense and inflict fatal damage.”

Elder Tie’s words made everyone’s faces light up.

They had finally found a way to deal with the creature.

But the joy on their faces faded just as quickly, as they all realized the same problem.

Chu Xiran was the one to voice it. ”The Demon Dragon Rhinoceros has five lighter-colored scales on its abdomen. But to attack them, we’d have to wait for it to push through far enough to expose its belly. By then, the danger will have increased dramatically.”

”That’s right. By that point, the Unstable Rift’s hold on it will be much weaker, and it will be able to use its Skills more freely!” Zhu Bingqing added. ”We’d never be able to dodge an Energy Ball moving at that speed!”

”This is the only way!” Elder Tie knew the risks involved, but he knew even more clearly that they were out of options.

”Actually, there is one other way...” Li Qian, who had kept his eyes fixed on the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros, suddenly said, his voice calm.

”You mean... the gap!” Zhu Guanyu exclaimed. He followed Li Qian’s gaze and quickly understood what he was thinking.

Li Qian nodded and explained his idea. ”The Unstable Rift is irregular, a long, narrow tear. Besides the spot where the Demon Dragon Rhinoceros is forcing its head through, there’s still space above and below it. We could slip in through there... and attack its abdomen from the inside...”
