Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 114: Chapter 97: Blocking

Li Qian didn’t go far, stopping at a spot roughly three hundred meters from the water slide.

He chose this spot to stop the giant wave because beyond this point, there were basically no more houses.

Besides, the farther the giant wave traveled across the ground, the more its power would diminish. Naturally, Li Qian wasn’t going to choose a location farther off when a closer one was available.

In fact, if the newly repaired water slide wasn’t right behind him, he would have wanted to fall back even farther.

Seeing the giant wave surging to less than five hundred meters from where he stood, Li Qian gave the order without hesitation. ”This is close enough! Qizai, Tan Tou, Jin Yi, Jin Er, and Jin San, time to act! Use the Tornado Skill together!”

At his command, the five Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragons, led by Qizai, unleashed their Tornado Skills without hesitation.

Fierce gales whipped up out of thin air, swirling around the five Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragons. In the blink of an eye, five massive tornadoes had formed.

Of them all, the Tornado encircling Qizai was the most massive.

The moment they formed, the five tornadoes surged forward with unstoppable momentum, crashing toward the giant wave.

While the Tornadoes looked impressive, they paled in comparison to the colossal wave.

RUMBLE...

As expected, the five Tornadoes smashed into the giant wave. The whirlwinds sucked up massive amounts of river water, transforming into five waterspouts.

The churning waterspouts disrupted the giant wave considerably. Not only did its height decrease, but its speed also seemed to slow.

Seeing this, Li Qian knew this was his only chance. His gaze sharpened as he bellowed, ”Xiaoliu, and Heaven and Earth Profound Yellow Universe Hong, it’s your turn! Frost Breath!”

He had checked earlier; after completing their evolution, all seven Frostfire Salamanders of the Heaven and Earth Profound Yellow Universe Hong group had mastered the Frost Breath Skill.

It was precisely because they had all mastered this Skill that Li Qian even conceived of stopping the giant wave.

Otherwise, he could only have sighed helplessly, knowing he was willing but lacked the power.

As Li Qian’s command rang out, eight jets of blue-white frigid energy shot forth like eight Giant Swords, piercing forward with unstoppable momentum.

The eight frigid blasts struck the encroaching wave almost simultaneously. Li Qian stared without blinking, eager to see the result.

CRACKLE... CRACKLE... CRACKLE...

CRASH... CRASH... CRASH...

The crackling of ice was incessant, but so was the crashing of water breaking through it. Overall, however, the wave was being held back.

The rear of the wave and the frozen ice wall at its front seemed to be locked in a contest of strength, reaching a stalemate.

”Come on, hold on, don’t give up!” Li Qian shouted encouragingly to the eight Frostfire Salamanders, led by Xiaoliu.

He knew very well that the stalemate wouldn’t end quickly. ’If they stop using their Skills now, the giant wave will shatter the ice wall in an instant.’

’They have to keep a constant stream of Skills to maintain the ice wall and do everything they can to freeze more of the river water!’

Li Qian didn’t know if there were more of these terrifying giant waves to come.

If not, that would be for the best.

But if there were, this ice wall certainly wouldn’t withstand many more impacts.

CRASH... CRASH...

The sound of the wave battering the ice wall was relentless. Finally, after about a minute, the crashing gradually subsided.

In the end, he and his Pet Beasts had managed to hold back the massive wave.

Without a moment of hesitation, Li Qian mounted Qizai and flew into the air, his gaze turning toward the West Suburb Hydroelectric Power Station.

The sight made his scalp prickle in horror. About two kilometers away, another giant wave was rushing toward them.

It had already taken every ounce of his strength to stop the last wave. Another one right after was just adding insult to injury.

Fortunately, he had a slight advantage this time. The ice wall formed from the first wave should provide a significant barrier.

Just as his brow furrowed at the thought of having to go all out once more, several vehicles came roaring up, clearly reinforcements.

He knew they were reinforcements at a glance because of their distinct markings—they were vehicles from the Public Security Bureau.

The fact that the Public Security Bureau could dispatch vehicles to help here suggested that the riots in the city must have been mostly quelled.

Of course, that was only his guess. In reality, the riots in the city had died down, not because the Public Security Bureau had quelled them, but because the Mechanical Desecration Association had voluntarily withdrawn.

To this day, the Lingshui City Public Security Bureau still didn’t know why the Mechanical Desecration Association had pulled back.

As for why they were here, the reason was obvious. A giant wave this terrifying was impossible for the Public Security Bureau to have missed with their monitoring capabilities.

Four vehicles pulled to a stop one after another, and a dozen or so people emerged. From his vantage point in the air on Qizai’s back, Li Qian glanced down and immediately spotted some familiar faces: his old acquaintance, Zhou Weiping, and the director of the Lingshui City Public Security Bureau, Peng Zhongyan.

A look of delight spread across Li Qian’s face when he saw the group from the Public Security Bureau. With their help, dealing with the giant wave would be much easier.

Peng Zhongyan, Zhou Weiping, and the others got out of their cars and were immediately stunned into silence. Before them stood a colossal ice wall, over fifty meters high, shaped like a mountain range and stretching for nearly a kilometer. They were so shocked they stood rooted to the spot.

They were at a loss for words to describe the scene.

The sight was made even more staggering by the eight majestic Frostfire Salamanders and the five Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragons in the sky.

Zhou Weiping was particularly floored, his eyes practically bugging out of his head.

’When the hell did Li Qian amass such an arsenal?!’

’And this didn’t even include his Da Zhuang!’

Seeing them standing there stunned, Li Qian quickly snapped them out of it, his voice laced with urgency. ”Director Peng, Captain Zhou, hurry! Get around this ice wall!”

The Public Security Bureau team, led by Peng Zhongyan and Zhou Weiping, immediately snapped to attention, each summoning their own Pet Beast.

As they began summoning their Pet Beasts, Li Qian had already commanded his five Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragons to attack.

They used only Wind Skills. While not enough to stop the giant wave completely, their attacks served to delay and weaken it significantly.

Once the Public Security Bureau team made their way around the ice wall, they saw the terrifying giant wave for themselves and instantly understood the wall’s purpose.

Without hesitation, they too commanded their Pet Beasts to attack.

With the Public Security Bureau team joining the fray, Li Qian’s pressure was greatly reduced. The few Earth-type Pet Beasts among their ranks were an especially big help.

With such powerful reinforcements, his confidence in stopping the wave grew even stronger.

After repeated barrages of Skills weakened the wave, any water that managed to break through the blockade no longer posed a significant threat.

The eight Frostfire Salamanders, using their Frost Breath in unison, could easily freeze it solid.
