Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 113: Chapter 96: Battle Plan

Water overflowing the irrigation canals was clearly not normal. After all, the weather had been good recently, with hardly any rain.

The water level of the Lingshui River shouldn’t have risen significantly.

Under these circumstances, for the irrigation canals to overflow and even flood the fields, there was definitely a problem.

But as for what the problem was, Li Qian certainly had no way of knowing.

’I’ll worry about that later. The top priority is to help Tan Tou complete its evolution.’

He shook his head slightly, trying to stop himself from overthinking, and focused his attention on Tan Tou, who was currently Climbing the Waterfall.

Fatty An had poured his heart and soul into Tan Tou, who would also be his first Pet Beast. If it failed again, Li Qian didn’t know how he would face him.

Fortunately, Tan Tou was doing great this time.

Even after fighting its way upstream to the ninety-meter mark, it still showed no signs of faltering.

Seeing this, Li Qian felt much more at ease.

In the end, things unfolded just as he had expected.

Tan Tou soared into the sky, leaped into midair, caught the Wind Chime Fruit Li Qian had thrown, and swallowed it in one gulp.

The brilliant Light of Evolution burst forth, then faded away as Tan Tou plunged into the pool at the bottom of the water slide.

SPLASH~!

A huge spray of water shot into the air.

From within the spray, the head of a Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon emerged—majestic and breathtakingly powerful.

”Tan Tou, you’ve finally achieved Perfection.” Seeing that Tan Tou had at last successfully evolved, Li Qian broke into a gratified smile.

In truth, he knew full well that Tan Tou’s Potential and the training it had undergone were more than enough for it to evolve.

The reason for the first failure was a problem with its own mindset.

Once its mindset was right, success was only a matter of course.

After offering a word of comfort, he added a reminder, ”From now on, train well with your master. Don’t let your Talent go to waste.”

”ROAR...” Tan Tou flew into midair, letting out a few excited draconic cries before affectionately nuzzling Li Qian’s palm.

It knew very well who was responsible for its transformation from a Koi Carp into a Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon. One could say that without Li Qian, it would not be what it was today.

Therefore, in addition to affection, it was also filled with respect for Li Qian.

...

In a lounge at the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base, Fatty An was listlessly playing on his phone.

It was nearly four in the morning, but he was still awake.

He hadn’t gone home, either, choosing instead to stay at the Cultivation Base.

He couldn’t sleep because Tan Tou had yet to complete its evolution; filled with anticipation, he found it impossible to drift off.

As for why he was at the Cultivation Base, that was due to the commotion in the city earlier that night.

The Cultivation Base was much closer than his home to the water slide. Seeing the widespread commotion in the city, An Hou Nian and An Tianyou had wanted him to take shelter somewhere nearby, so he had returned directly to the Cultivation Base with Li Chengyang.

Lying in bed and listlessly playing on his phone, Fatty An’s thoughts were a tangled mess.

His mind raced with anxious thoughts...

’Why isn’t Tan Tou done evolving yet? It’s so late. Did something go wrong?’

Just as these wild thoughts plagued him, a vast wave of Spiritual Power suddenly surged into his mind.

At the same time, waves of Energy surged through his body, coursing through his very being.

”Yes! Tan Tou finally finished evolving!” Feeling the explosive surge in his Spiritual Power and physical constitution, he was so excited he leaped right out of bed.

It was obvious that the explosive increase in both his Spiritual Power and physical fitness was the result of evolutionary feedback.

If not for the late hour and the fact that the commotion in the city might not have been fully suppressed, he would have charged straight to the water slide.

...

After nuzzling Li Qian’s palm, perhaps because a whole night of pent-up emotion had yet to be fully released, Tan Tou flew into midair once more.

Li Qian didn’t mind. At this hour, before the sun had risen, there was no need to worry about being seen.

Of course, strictly speaking, it wouldn’t be a big deal even if they were.

”ROAR~!”

Suddenly, the airborne Tan Tou looked toward a certain direction and let out a sharp, draconic cry.

The cry was loud and abrupt. It didn’t sound like a release of excitement, but more like a warning.

Li Qian looked in the direction the cry was aimed and quickly discovered a startling sight.

”Huh? What’s that?”

”Damn, where did that ocean wave come from? Lingshui City isn’t even on the coast!”

That’s right. At this very moment, Li Qian could see with his naked eye a massive wave, vast and mighty, rushing toward him.

Even from a distance, Li Qian could tell that the wave was at least several dozen meters high.

As Li Qian watched the massive wave sweeping toward him with astonishing power, as if to topple mountains and overturn seas, his eyes filled with deep confusion.

But soon, a look of realization dawned on his face. ”That direction is... the hydropower station!”

As the massive wave drew closer, beads of sweat couldn’t help but form on Li Qian’s forehead.

’This won’t do. I have to stop it with everything I’ve got! If this giant wave hits, Lingshui City is probably in for a catastrophe!’ After staring grimly for a moment, he made his decision.

He had to intervene and stop it. This wasn’t just for Lingshui City; it was for himself as well.

After all, the Cultivation Base wasn’t far from here.

If this wave came crashing down, the Cultivation Base he had only just acquired would likely be destroyed in an instant.

Having made his decision, Li Qian no longer hesitated. He swiftly released all of his Pet Beasts.

”Qizai, Xiaoliu, Jin Yi, Jin Er, Jin San, Tan Tou, Demon Heaven, Demon Land, Mo Xuan, Mo Huang, Mo Yu, Demon Cosmos, Mo Hong! Let’s go, time to move!”

Walking up to Qizai, Li Qian mounted its back and gave a grand wave of his hand.

Qizai soared into the air, followed by the four Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragons: Jin Yi, Jin Er, Jin San, and Tan Tou.

Xiaoliu ran along the ground, an even larger contingent following behind it.

Demon Heaven, Demon Land, Mo Xuan, Mo Huang, Mo Yu, Demon Cosmos, and Mo Hong were all there.

Thus, five Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragons and eight Frostfire Salamanders formed a contingent that covered both land and sky, charging mightily toward the giant wave.

In midair, as the wind howled past his ears, Li Qian’s mind began to race furiously.

Faced with such a terrifying wave, even though the Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragons possessed the Water Attribute, it was unlikely that Water Skills alone could block it or force it to recede.

Wind Skills might be of some use.

Furthermore, the Fire Element of the Frostfire Salamanders would be suppressed in this situation, so their contribution would likely be limited.

The Ice Element, on the other hand, was a good option. If used correctly, it might just play a crucial role.

As he pondered this, the vague outline of a battle plan began to form in his mind.

Of course, it was only an outline.

The situation was as precarious as a pile of eggs; there was no more time for him to think in greater detail.
