Chapter 872: Chapter 865: Night and Moon Goddess

The High Priest Herneao roared, summoning the Divine Power of the Night with total abandon.

The Temple of Night stood unwavering behind, a step not to be retreated from!

”High Priest!”

”Herneao High Priest...”

One after another, assistant priests gathered around Herneao, sensing the formidable chaos demons breaking through the myriad obstacles and flying forth, showing shock upon their faces, realizing the insignificance of their own summoned Divine Power of the Night.

”None shall retreat, protect the Temple of the Night Goddess!”

Herneao roared, pushing the limits of the surging Divine Power of the Night they summoned, courageously charging towards a Combat Demon.

”Great Goddess of Night, your humble servant beseeches your guidance, to combat the enemies of the Temple’s teachings, grant me mighty Divine Power of the Night! Divine spell, Night Slumber!”

The High Priest performed the divine spell, its power transcendent, even causing the Combat Demon, esteemed in the chaos demon clan, to halt, raising a grey warhammer, as a column of Chaos Power descended from the cloud-layered sky.

The Combat Demon could likewise use the chaos magic instrument in its hands to summon foreign power, seemingly even stronger than that of the Temple’s High Priest.

Rumbling...

Vast power unfurled, and with a mere collision, the High Priest Herneao found themselves completely suppressed, perilously close to falling, yet had to brace with their frail body, again summoning Divine Power of the Night to perform spells, exhausting all strength to block the formidable demon.

”Hahaha, it seems this time’s reward belongs to me!”

Finally, the Combat Demon charged towards the Temple of Night.

Exposing its body within the Temple’s brilliance, the overflowing Divine Power of the Night posed threats to ordinary Holy Realm beings, yet against this Combat Demon shielded by the Claw of Chaos, it formed no intimidation.

Over ten priests jointly sang the Temple’s doctrine, summoning Divine Power of the Night, yet merely stalled the Combat Demon a moment before the Claw of Chaos summoned a chaos power pillar, easily crushing these temple priests, staining the Temple of Night with blood.

”How dare you defile the Temple of Night!”

The final High Priest responsible for temple rituals rushed out, angrily roaring. Though she can summon the weakest divine power among the three high priests, she possessed her own special abilities.

Closing her eyes, raising her voice in reverent chant.

”Great Goddess of Night, the Temple’s doctrine suffers unforgivable desecration by heretics, I shall open the gates of the Divine Kingdom of the Night, summoning guardian spirits to uphold temple dignity!”

Slowly, a dark fissure opened before the priestess, exuding rich Principles of Night, akin to the Stigmata Sorcerer’s Secret Realm.

One by one, wills awakened gradually, souls once devoted to the Goddess of Night, collected by the goddess sealing them within the Divine Kingdom with immense divine power, enjoying eternal life alongside the Principles of Night.

However, as the Temple of Night was threatened, these guardian spirits had to appear on the continent once more, meaning the Goddess of Night reached her most critical moment, the last resort of guardians forced to self-sacrifice fully!

Thud!

Suddenly, the elderly priest looked down in disbelief, staring at the black claw piercing through their chest, the claw of a ten-meter Combat Demon like a dagger to the High Priest.

”Heh heh heh, too slow, all the same, you temple priests are slow creatures despite your strength.”

As a purely third-level being, this Combat Demon wielded Half-step Chronos Perception against High Priest’s mere apparent Chronos Perception during spellcasting, exploiting an interval to ambush perfectly, delivering a fatal blow!

”Cough cough, Great Goddess of Night, your servant failed to extend the conflict till the full moon after three days, I am guilty...”

As merely ten guardian spirits squeezed through the closing gate of the Divine Kingdom, lacking divine power support, it shut, leaving them enraged and despairing unable to protect the temple on the Continent of the Gods.

Though these guardian spirits were Holy Realm beings, they remained at its lowest tier, akin to Ant-class Mechanical Puppets.

Moreover, bodies formed of Principles of Night dissipated rapidly upon the continent, unable to be sustained for long.

”Protect the temple!”

”Heretics daring to insult the temple!”

Unable to penetrate for a time, the Combat Demon swore, clashing against the guardian spirits, dispersing one after another with the Claw of Chaos.

Moments later.

Elsewhere, the Combat Demon roared ferociously, its ten-meter form hammering Herneao High Priest with chaos, shattering all protective Divine Power of the Night, the mortal body destroyed, utterly dead.

”Hahaha, fools, the reward is mine!”

Flying past the Combat Demon tangled in combat with the last guardian spirits of the Temple, it was undeterred, charging straight at the Temple of Night, the guardian beings regarded merely as first-level creatures, like decorations, the temple before it almost a lamb awaiting slaughter.

Before departure, the Combat Demon had been summoned by the chaos demon lord, instructed on how to destroy the temple.

Within each temple lies a divine statue, finding the source object within and removing it would dismantle the power of faith of the deity.

...

In the sky, witnessing this, the Bloodthirsty Demon King grinned darkly, intercepting the Goddess of Night’s attempt to descend.

”The Combat Demons are chaos warfare’s strongest warriors, even if the great chaos demon lord only dispatches four, together they’re formidable against lesser demon kings, yet these servants before Combat Demons clearly are mere trash chickens, hahahaha...”

Unable to intervene in time, the ritual priest’s death evidently exceeded the Goddess of Night’s expectations.

Originally planning for the ritual priest to open the gates of the Divine Kingdom to hold battlefield conditions till the full moon night when her power was strongest a few days later, an unforeseen misstep...

Suddenly, the Goddess of Night showed a sinister smile, unsettling the Bloodthirsty Demon King!

”Heh heh heh heh, since attaining godhood, I have not shown my true form on the continent, intending to try slaying you as one for condensing Principles of Night to ascend, but now this gods’ conflict forces other priorities!”

Following her cryptic words, amid daylight, the sky suddenly descended a serene moonlight beside the two-hundred-meter Black Cat deity, exhibiting power not inferior to the goddess.

”Hm!? This is... the Goddess of the Moon!?”

In decades of invading the continent, the Bloodthirsty Demon King amassed temple knowledge considerably.

A white fox marked with a lunar crest on its forehead, accompanying the black felid demon facing foes, as the Bloodthirsty Demon King stood bewildered, in these moments, two unrelated divinities on the continent surprisingly unified.
