The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Eldest Miss or Queen

As soon as the elevator doors opened, Zhang Yun sensed the atmosphere was off. A man dressed in black stood guard right there.

”This way...” Zhang Lifeng nodded to the man in black and led Zhang Yun toward a hospital room.

In the hallway outside the room, two more men in black stood watch. Before they could even get close, one of the men had already knocked on the door to report their arrival.

”Please!”

After the man in black opened the door, Zhang Lifeng immediately pulled Zhang Yun into the room.

Inside, there was only one hospital bed, where the injured beautiful driver lay. Sitting on a chair was an unsmiling middle-aged man, who immediately sized Zhang Yun up.

Zhang Lifeng quickly put on a fawning smile and introduced, ”This is Mr. Ouyang Kunpeng, and this is Zhang Yun, who brought Miss Ouyang here.”

Ouyang Kunpeng stood up, walked over, and extended a hand to him. ”Mr. Zhang, thank you so much for saving my daughter!”

Perhaps it was the habitual aura of someone in power. Ouyang Kunpeng didn’t try to appear particularly authoritative, but his words and gaze alone exerted immense pressure.

However, since Zhang Yun neither knew his identity nor had anything to ask of him, he shook his hand calmly. ”You’re welcome. I just happened to run into her.”

Ouyang Kunpeng handed over a business card. ”Words cannot express my gratitude for such a great favor. The Ouyang family owes you a debt of gratitude!”

Zhang Lifeng watched enviously from the side, desperately hoping Zhang Yun would be tactful enough to put in a good word for him.

Zhang Yun casually stuffed the card into his pocket. ”Heh, you brought me all the way here just to say thanks? That’s too much trouble. You could have just sent me a two-hundred yuan red envelope and called it a day.”

Zhang Lifeng wanted to punch him. If he had known this kid was so unambitious, he would have sent him a few hundred yuan beforehand to buy out his favor!

Ouyang Kunpeng frowned slightly. ”My daughter’s life is priceless!”

Zhang Yun shrugged. If it weren’t for the ginseng, going through the motions of accepting their thanks would be enough. ”Do you need anything else? If not, I’ll be leaving.”

”...”

Ouyang Kunpeng’s frown deepened. People were always sucking up and currying favor with him; no one had ever been impatient with him! This attitude made him uncomfortable.

”You all can leave first. I have a few words to ask Zhang Yun.”

A weak but melodious voice suddenly rang out, drawing everyone’s attention to the hospital bed. The beautiful woman had opened her eyes and was staring at Zhang Yun.

Ouyang Kunpeng nodded and immediately left the room, bringing Zhang Lifeng out with him.

”Sit.”

Zhang Yun walked over and sat down beside the bed. ”Well... we just met by chance, but everyone wishes you a speedy recovery. So, let me just wish you an early Happy New Year.”

”???” The woman’s face was full of question marks. What the hell was up with wishing her an early Happy New Year?

”My name is Mingruo. Ouyang Mingruo.”

Zhang Yun didn’t care about that and spoke up first. ”I know what you’re going to ask.”

”Oh?” Ouyang Mingruo’s beautiful eyes stared intently at him.

Zhang Yun sighed inwardly. This father and daughter were both formidable figures; they were used to unconsciously exerting pressure on people!

”You were knocked down the bank by a car. I saw the hit-and-run vehicle speed off, but I was startled too. From my angle down by the water, I didn’t see the license plate at all...”

Ouyang Mingruo rolled her eyes. ”Who’s asking you about that?”

Zhang Yun thought about it. ”Right, you guys definitely have your ways to investigate. Then are you... missing something? I didn’t steal your stuff! I put it all in your bag and handed it over to the doctors, so you’ll have to ask them.”

Ouyang Mingruo rolled her eyes again.

Zhang Yun quickly said, ”Did you know you keep rolling your eyes? You might have suffered brain damage from the crash. Should I call a doctor for you?”

”You’re the one with brain damage!” Ouyang Mingruo almost rolled her eyes a third time. ”Hmph! You’re not being honest!”

”Huh?”

”You’re changing the subject on purpose! You’re just afraid I’ll confront you about molesting me!” Ouyang Mingruo’s beautiful eyes suddenly turned sharp.

Zhang Yun’s eyes went wide. ”You’re a pretty woman, but your heart is rotten. How can you slander my innocence out of nowhere like that!”

”Heh! You saw I was pretty, so you took the opportunity to molest me?” Ouyang Mingruo demanded in annoyance.

”What kind of logic is that!” Zhang Yun stood up angrily. ”And here I saved your life. You’re an ungrateful wretch!”

”Don’t think I didn’t know anything just because I was unconscious! What did you feed me? My body got so hot so quickly that I almost died!” Ouyang Mingruo was still angry talking about it.

”About that...” Zhang Yun felt a little guilty. He knew the effects of the mysterious petal better than anyone; it was indeed explosively uncomfortable. Could the heat have actually woken her up from her coma?

”Am I framing you? You even took off my dress and shoes, and molested me!”

”I’m not, I didn’t, don’t talk nonsense!” Zhang Yun fired off a triple denial. ”The shoes, yes, but absolutely not the dress!”

”What about my pantyhose?”

”The pantyhose... yes... but that was to...”

”I told you you weren’t being honest, and now you admit it?! I was injured that badly, and you were still taking off my pantyhose! Are you even human? Dare you say you didn’t touch or look inappropriately while taking them off?”

Ouyang Mingruo’s accusation was severe, but for whatever reason, she kept her voice down.

Zhang Yun grew a bit nervous. If Ouyang Kunpeng heard this outside, he’d immediately have his men-in-black bodyguards toss him out!

”Things aren’t what you think. Listen to me quibble—uh, I mean, listen to me explain.”

”So you are quibbling!”

”I did it to cool you down...” Even Zhang Yun couldn’t keep a straight face. Taking off her pantyhose to cool her down—this excuse was a bit too absurd.

”Heh!”

”Since you were conscious, I’ll be straight with you. I saw you coughing up blood and was afraid you wouldn’t make it to the hospital, so I fed you some medicine. I knew it would cause a fever, but I couldn’t just soak you in the river. I didn’t even get your clothes wet; I only put your feet in the water!”

”And the pantyhose?” Ouyang Mingruo sneered.

Zhang Yun regained the initiative. ”That was to dissipate the heat faster! I was in a rush, and you looked like a corpse. Who’d have any interest in touching or looking at you!”

”More quibbling! You were in a rush? The pantyhose weren’t damaged at all, and they were neatly tucked into my bag. You’re clearly a! Foot! Fetishist!” Ouyang Mingruo glared at him, punctuating her accusation word by word.

”...”

Zhang Yun was completely speechless. This was pure slander! He was completely innocent!

”Are my legs pale? Do my feet look pretty?”

”Pale! Pretty...” Zhang Yun answered reflexively before hastily correcting himself. ”You tricked me! I didn’t look closely at all!”

Ouyang Mingruo lowered her voice, but what she said next left Zhang Yun in shock. ”You looked at and touched my feet, so you must take responsibility!”

”Take responsibility my ass! Why should I!” Zhang Yun nearly jumped out of his skin.

”I don’t care! If you behave, I might reward you by letting you kiss my feet. You definitely kissed them, didn’t you?”

Seeing the excited look in her eyes, Zhang Yun was rendered completely dumbfounded, forgetting even to defend himself. Did she have some sort of dominatrix fetish herself?

”Silence means consent! Just as I thought...”

”I did not!” Zhang Yun smiled bitterly. ”I’m really not that kind of person!”

Ouyang Mingruo shook her head slightly. ”Don’t explain; explaining is just covering it up. I understand and accept your fetish!”

”Think whatever you want!” It was Zhang Yun’s turn to roll his eyes. ”Are you done asking? Because if you are, I’m leaving.”

”Why are you staring at me like that? Even though I’m approachable and naturally gorgeous, a mere pheasant can never match a phoenix.”

”I...”

”It’s no use even thinking about it! Don’t think I don’t know what’s going through your mind. You rejected a favor from the Ouyang family, which clearly means you’re scheming for something much bigger. You’re playing hard to get to win my heart!”

”You’re crazy!” Zhang Yun retorted grumpily. ”I only wanted two hundred yuan to cover my cab fare and time! Who the hell cares about your stupid heart!”

”Tsk, tsk, so manly! So macho, and yet you like my feet...” Ouyang Mingruo feigned infatuation with a half-smile. ”I’ve decided... I’ll give you a chance to skip decades of hard work and become our family’s glorious live-in son-in-law!”
