The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: The Hospital’s Attitude

Zhang Yun felt like it had taken a herculean effort just to peel off that pair of pantyhose!

Heaven knew he definitely hadn’t taken his time on purpose!

Zhang Yun simply had absolutely no Experience! Let alone physical contact, he had never even seen an urban beauty with such stunning looks and elegance. Even though she was completely unconscious, his heart was pounding so hard it threatened to leap out of his chest. This felt far more exhausting than beating up Li Bing and his entire gang.

Finally removing the pantyhose, he gazed at her flawless, creamy white legs. Zhang Yun swallowed hard, feeling his body grow hotter by the second, and hurriedly immersed her legs into the creek.

His fingers still tingling with the soft, warm sensation of her skin, Zhang Yun looked down at the pantyhose in his hands.

”This... must be pretty high-end, right?” he wondered aloud.

Zhang Yun was always very mindful of valuables—which was why he had made sure to grab her phone and handbag from the car earlier. He didn’t know the first thing about pantyhose, but a woman driving a Maybach definitely wouldn’t wear anything cheap! Since they weren’t torn or dirty, it would be a shame to just throw them away.

His first encounter with pantyhose involved personally peeling them off a gorgeous woman. His heart was racing relentlessly, so he hastily folded the hosiery and stuffed them into her handbag, lest he end up doing something incredibly weird.

The mountain creek was freezing. With her feet submerged in the water, her body temperature dropped rapidly, and the beautiful driver’s condition seemed to stabilize a bit. Zhang Yun fed her a little more water.

However, this was merely a stopgap measure. She had been coughing up blood just moments ago; she needed to get to a hospital immediately!

Once her fever had subsided slightly, Zhang Yun scooped her back into his arms and resumed his sprint.

Emerging onto the main road, he spotted a small four-wheeled cargo truck parked in front of a roadside convenience store and immediately rushed over with her in his arms.

”Sir, it’s an emergency! I’ll charter your truck to take someone to the hospital!”

”This truck is for hauling cargo...”

”It’s a matter of life and death! Name your price, and I’ll pay it! Just get me some ice to help bring her fever down.”

Seeing the bloodstains on the female driver, the shop owner was startled. He hurriedly chipped some ice out of his freezer, threw it into a plastic bag, and handed it to Zhang Yun.

As the truck began moving, Zhang Yun finally let out a sigh of relief. He held her close, pressing the ice pack against her face and forehead to lower her temperature.

Upon arriving at the county hospital, they rushed the driver to the emergency room. After explaining to the doctor that she had been in a car accident and roughly how much time had passed, Zhang Yun prepared to leave and find a large pharmacy to sell his ginseng.

”I hope I can sell it for a good price...” he muttered to himself. ”Saving her cost me fifty bucks in cab fare alone. If someone steals my motorcycle back there, I’ll be taking a massive loss.”

Just as Zhang Yun was grumbling to himself on his way out, someone grabbed him from behind.

”You can’t leave until the patient wakes up!” The man holding him was a stern-looking middle-aged security guard, flanked by two others.

”And why is that?” Zhang Yun instantly grew annoyed at the guard’s attitude. ”I just rescued her from a car crash! I wasn’t the one who hit her!”

”That’s just your side of the story,” one of the guards sneered, all three of them looking entirely unconvinced.

”Hey, wait a minute! Do you think I headbutted her car into a wreck, or do I look like a guy who can afford to drive?” Zhang Yun rolled his eyes. Before her ungrateful relatives even had a chance to show up, the hospital security was already treating him like a suspect.

”Whether you’re the culprit or a good Samaritan, only the patient and a police investigation can determine that. If we call the cops right now, you’ll be treated as a suspect. It’s better if you just come with us to the security office and wait until she wakes up to decide if we need to call the police.”

After the middle-aged guard spoke, he shot a glance at his two subordinates, who immediately moved to surround Zhang Yun.

”Buddy, this is just shady. You can’t just dump a dying woman on us and bolt. Who are we supposed to collect the medical bills from once she’s treated?”

”If it turns out you are the one who hit her, and we let you slip away, how are we going to explain that to the cops?”

The other two guards were far more blunt.

Zhang Yun scoffed. ”From your perspective, I suppose that makes sense. But from my perspective, it pisses me off!”

”What are you trying to do?” The middle-aged guard’s tone grew harsh.

”If I run now, you’ll definitely treat me like the culprit!” Zhang Yun snorted coldly. ”I can stay and wait for the victim to wake up, but drop that arrogant attitude! Otherwise, I’ll put all of you on the floor!”

Having sprinted all the way through the mountain trails, Zhang Yun’s shoes and trouser legs were caked in mud. He looked exactly like a rural peasant, the very picture of a country bumpkin. The guards probably didn’t even believe he was the one who crashed into her; they just needed to keep a warm body around to foot the medical bill.

Hearing his threat, the other two guards chuckled. One of them reached out and clamped a hand down on Zhang Yun’s shoulder. ”Wanna go a few rounds?”

Their teamwork was seamless. The second guard instantly grabbed Zhang Yun’s other shoulder, and together, they tried to forcefully pin him against the wall!

Zhang Yun grunted and swung his arms with a burst of tremendous force. In an instant, the two guards grabbing his shoulders were hoisted right off the ground!

Just as the two men let out cries of alarm, they felt their bodies being viciously slammed into the floor!

”Go a few rounds with me? You two?” Zhang Yun stared disdainfully at the groaning guards, casually wiping the mud off his shoes onto their uniforms.

”D-Don’t do anything rash...” the middle-aged guard stammered, terrified by this sudden reversal. He hastily changed his tune. ”I am Security Captain Li Dabao. Let them go, and you can talk to me about whatever you need...”

”Let’s go!” Zhang Yun stepped right up to the captain.

”G-Go? Go where?” Li Dabao froze.

Zhang Yun glared at him. ”Didn’t you want me to go to the security office?”

”Right, right... This way, please.” Cold sweat beaded on Li Dabao’s forehead. If this guy could effortlessly flatten two young, strapping guards, Li Dabao certainly wouldn’t stand a chance.

The two young guards on the floor groaned in pain as they used the wall to prop themselves up, not daring to step any closer.

”I already handed her phone and handbag over to you guys. Go contact her family. Don’t waste my time. I don’t have the money for her medical bills, and I shouldn’t be the one paying them anyway!”

Zhang Yun made his stance crystal clear as he took the initiative to follow the captain to the security office.

After that display of strength, Li Dabao didn’t dare act high and mighty anymore. He politely brewed tea and offered cigarettes, treating Zhang Yun like an honored guest.

Despite the friendly treatment, Zhang Yun was losing his patience. He still had to go sell his ginseng!

After waiting for about an hour, Li Dabao rushed into the room.

”Young man, we got in touch with the victim’s family. They’re on their way here right now, and they’ve already prepaid the medical fees! They also want to thank you in person!”

Zhang Yun stretched his arms, speaking in an exasperated tone. ”Well, since you’ve got the medical bills sorted out, I can leave now, right? I don’t need their thanks.”

”No, no, please wait a moment. The family won’t be here that quickly, but our Vice Director Zhang wants to see you.” Li Dabao shamelessly stepped forward and grabbed Zhang Yun’s arm.

”Why does he want to see me? I don’t even know the guy!” Zhang Yun was still solely focused on selling his ginseng.

”Please, you must wait just a moment!” Li Dabao tried to press Zhang Yun back into his seat, but after receiving a sharp glare, he hastily explained. ”Buddy, do me a favor. You’ve already waited this long, what’s a little bit longer? I’ll treat you to dinner later.”

”Like I care about that?” Zhang Yun reached back and grabbed the front of the captain’s uniform. As he stood up, he gave it a quick tug and shoved Li Dabao right into the chair.

Just then, a voice rang out from the hallway. ”Is he in here? Why did you invite our guest to the security office? You should have brought him to my office!”

Zhang Yun stepped out the door and saw an elderly doctor being accompanied by several middle-aged physicians.

”Elder Zhang, this is the young man!” Li Dabao rushed over to introduce him, inwardly rejoicing that Vice Director Zhang had arrived just in time.

The elderly doctor quickly sized Zhang Yun up. ”Wait outside. I’m going to have a chat with our young friend here!”

He then enthusiastically pulled Zhang Yun back into the security office, and Li Dabao hurriedly shut the door behind them.

Zhang Yun looked at the old doctor suspiciously. ”Could we be distant relatives sharing the same surname? No, that doesn’t make sense. I haven’t even told Li Dabao my last name,” he thought.

He got straight to the point. ”What do you want?”
