The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: 1st Time Receiving a Red Envelope from a Girl

Zhang Yun stomped his foot onto his face. ”You came here to ruin our reputations and smear our village’s name, and you think you can just walk away with a simple ’it was a misunderstanding’?”

”Exactly! You spread rumors to ruin Zhang Yun and Xiuxun’s reputations, and even called our village morally corrupt!”

”We absolutely can’t let him off the hook!” the villagers immediately chimed in. This concerned the reputation of the entire village.

”You’ve beaten me and cursed me out. What now, do you want me to pay you?” Li Dahai said, stiffening his neck.

Zhang Yun sneered. ”Slap your own face and apologize! Otherwise... I’ll bust Li Bing’s balls! I’ll end his bloodline!”

Li Bing, who had his eyes closed on the stretcher, shuddered and almost wet himself again! Zhang Yun had said he would break his third leg, and now he was threatening to bust his balls. He was genuinely holding onto that threat!

He desperately wanted to tell Li Dahai to hurry up and apologize, but he was afraid of drawing Zhang Yun’s attention.

”I’m sorry!” Li Dahai immediately slapped his own face.

He was getting on in years, so he wouldn’t even be afraid of being turned into a eunuch, but if Li Bing’s balls were busted, his bloodline would still be severed.

”I was the one who spread rumors that Zhang Yun was having an affair with the widow. I was wrong!” Li Dahai continued to slap himself.

To Li Dahai, as long as he didn’t have to pay money, his dignity meant nothing. However, his face was already swollen from Zhang Yun slapping him with the sole of a shoe, so hitting it now stung with a burning pain.

Zhang Yun removed his foot. ”Kneel down and apologize to the whole village!”

Zhang Yun wanted to clear Sister-in-law Xiuqin’s name, but she couldn’t become the focal point, or else things would only get worse the more he tried to explain. By emphasizing the village as a whole, it downplayed the two of them.

When Li Dahai had previously insulted Tianxin Village as morally corrupt, everyone felt implicated. They had felt stifled, unable to fight back, but now they could finally hold their heads high!

”Apologize! Apologize!”

”Apologize to our village!”

Seeing the crowd so riled up, Li Dahai didn’t dare to negotiate. He quickly scrambled up and knelt before everyone. ”It was my fault!”

Zhang Yun knew when to stop, not wanting the villagers to get too carried away and blow things out of proportion. He immediately barked, ”If you spread rumors and slander again, or if Li Bing does any more bad deeds, I will still bust his balls! Get lost!”

Li Dahai felt as if he had been granted amnesty. The other six people had been waiting for this exact sentence; they quickly picked up Li Bing and ran.

They had arrived aggressively, but now they were fleeing like stray dogs, earning the jeers and disdain of the villagers.

After Li Dahai’s group left, everyone wanted to ask Zhang Yun for more details, but they couldn’t find him. It was getting dark, so they all went back to their own homes to cook dinner.

Zhang Yun didn’t trust Li Bing and his father! He took a shortcut and waited for them outside the village.

The group of battered, bruised, and filthy people came out. They didn’t dare to speak the whole way, only breathing a sigh of relief once they were out of the village.

”Hurry up, damn it! Take me to the hospital!” The secondary injuries made the pain unbearable for Li Bing. He had been pretending to be unconscious, and only now did he dare to yell out.

”Li Bing, you’re awake? About our money...”

”Money my ass!” Li Dahai cursed loudly. ”Every single one of you young guys was too afraid to step forward, letting a man of my age get humiliated like a dog! And you still have the nerve to ask for money?”

”Hey! Uncle Li, you can’t say that! Li Bing said to help block him, he never said anything about fighting!”

”This Zhang Yun has clearly practiced Child’s Skill. You tricked us into getting beaten up!”

”Since he knows Kung Fu, you have to pay us more!”

Li Dahai yelled with a dark expression, ”I don’t have money! Li Bing still needs to be taken to the hospital, and I don’t even know where the money for that is coming from! How about... you guys go beat up Zhang Yun? Whatever you can get out of him, we’ll split it with you half and half!”

All these young men stopped in their tracks. They wondered if he was trying to trick them into getting beaten up again. If they could actually get money out of him, why would they give him half?

”Beat up who?” Zhang Yun walked out from behind a tree.

They hastily tossed the stretcher onto the ground. ”It has nothing to do with us! It’s this old geezer who put us up to it!”

Li Bing was dropped to the ground, the impact causing agonizing pain to his already broken arm and leg. He burst into tears on the spot! He wondered how this guy was so elusive, and if this torment would ever end.

Li Dahai’s heart sank to the bottom. Zhang Yun had followed them out of the village and only appeared when there was no one else around. He wondered if Zhang Yun wanted to kill the two of them.

”I... I was just saying...”

Zhang Yun stepped forward and delivered a kick, sending Li Dahai straight into the ditch nearby, then looked at Li Bing.

”I-It has nothing to do with me. That old geezer put me up to it...” Li Bing said with a miserable face, inhumanely pushing the blame onto his father.

Scum! The group of young men he had called over couldn’t help but secretly despise him.

Zhang Yun delivered another kick. Li Bing screamed as he crashed into the ditch, joining his father.

”Good hit! What a piece of trash,” the dozen or so young men quickly stood at attention, putting on apologetic smiles.

Zhang Yun stared at them for ten seconds. Once he was satisfied they were thoroughly intimidated, he went back to the village without a word.

”Damn! That scared me to death...”

”He’s definitely trained. Of all people, that bastard Li Bing had to mess with him.”

Zhang Yun returned home. Everyone had left except for Uncle Xi.

”What exactly is going on?” Zhang Fu asked anxiously.

Zhang Yun gave a brief explanation. ”It’s nothing serious. He’s just a thug. I beat him, and that’s that. They’re all cowards who only pick on the weak.”

Uncle Xi sighed. ”This Li Bing... People are afraid to mess with him not only because he’s a punk, but also because his uncle is Li Dajiang, the boss of Dajiang Cement Plant.”

Zhang Yun didn’t know who Li Dajiang was, but he knew about the cement plant.

”Li Dajiang also looks down on Li Bing, but he is Li Dahai’s biological younger brother. You were too impulsive just now, beating Li Dahai up too...” Uncle Xi explained a bit about Li Dajiang’s situation before heading home.

Seeing his father hanging his head, Zhang Yun smiled and comforted him, ”Dad, just relax! It’s a small matter, I can handle it! You start cooking, I’m going to take a shower.”

The Personal Space inside the Mysterious Ring—and just two flower petals—had already caused his strength to skyrocket. Zhang Yun was currently brimming with confidence.

Zhang Yun took out his phone. There was a friend request; it was Xiuxun adding him through the village WeChat group.

Xiuxun didn’t use a real photo of herself as her profile picture. She only read notifications in the group and didn’t usually speak. Many people had tried to add her as a friend without success.

However, Zhang Yun hadn’t disabled the ”Add via Group” feature, so she was able to add him.

Zhang Yun accepted the request and immediately received a message from Xiuxun.

”Zhang Yun, thank you. I’m very sorry that I couldn’t step forward to testify, and it’s not even convenient for me to go to your house to thank you.”

With such a huge commotion earlier, Xiuxun had been under tremendous pressure despite not being present. She had been both nervous and angry. She wanted to step forward to clear things up but was afraid of making it worse, and she worried that Zhang Yun would call her out to explain things face-to-face.

”It’s not your fault. I only hit him because he stole my fish.”

Xiuxun simply sent a red envelope titled ”Thank You”!

Zhang Yun didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Wasn’t it usually men sending red envelopes to women? How could he have the nerve to accept it?

”Please, you must accept it. If I were to catch a chicken and bring a basket of eggs over, you definitely wouldn’t accept those either. Please don’t mind that it’s just a small amount.”

Seeing what Sister-in-law Xiuqin meant, he realized she had added him solely to express her gratitude. If he didn’t accept the red envelope, she would really bring a chicken over. If someone saw that, it would only lead to more misunderstandings.

”Then I won’t be polite.” Zhang Yun tapped to open the red envelope; it was 66.66 yuan.

”Haha! Thank you. This is the first time I’ve ever received a red envelope from a girl.”

Xiuxun sent a thankful sticker and didn’t say anything else.

Zhang Yun scrolled through her Friends Circle, but there was nothing there; it was set to ”Visible for three days.”

After dinner, some of the villagers his age came over to find Zhang Yun. They had missed the incident earlier, but after hearing about it, they all felt deeply satisfied.

Zhang Fu was very worried that Li Bing would retaliate against his son. He went to the front of the village to buy some beer to treat everyone, asking them to look out for Zhang Yun in their daily lives.

While drinking, Zhang Yun realized that his alcohol tolerance had significantly increased! He used to be a lightweight, but now he didn’t feel a thing after drinking!

This made him really want to eat another petal, but he didn’t want to soak in cold water in the middle of the night and give his dad the wrong idea. So, he held off until the next day.

Early the next morning, Zhang Yun rushed to the small wooden cabin by the mountain fish pond. He planned to eat another petal and soak for the whole morning. However, the moment he entered the Personal Space, he was utterly stunned!
