Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Wang Baobao was already famished, and he laughed, ”Haha, the meal is already very good, and I apologize for the sudden intrusion.”

Su Yunjin smiled upon hearing this, ”It’s nice that my brother-in-law does not think it’s too meager. You all have important matters to discuss that I don’t quite understand, so I won’t disturb you all and will take my leave.”

”Sister, please don’t go.”

Seeing Su Yunjin about to leave, Zhao Ya grabbed her, and Su Yunjin looked at her, slightly surprised.

Zhao Ya said, ”Sister, stay with me.”

Su Yunjin hesitated for a moment and smiled, ”If little sister is willing to have me accompany her, it is an honor for me, and I would be more than happy to do so, but it wouldn’t delay your important discussions, would it?”

Chen Jie said, ”Wife, please sit. It won’t be delayed.”

Wang Baobao also rarely spoke, saying, ”It’s embarrassing for just a few of us to eat such a table of good food. Madam, please stay.”

Su Yunjin saw this and said, ”In that case, I impose.”

Saying this, she sat down quietly, not speaking, and remained very silent.

Seeing her in this manner, Wang Baobao said, ”Chen Jiusi, when do you plan to set off for the Great Capital? I’ll go with you.”

Hearing this, Zhao Ya also said, ”I’ll follow too.”

Chen Jiefang put down his chopsticks and said, ”There’s no hurry in this. Rushing will do no good. Firstly, we don’t know the situation in the Great Capital. If we enter blindly, it would truly be a death wish.”

”So we must first figure out the current situation in the Great Capital – who is leading the campaign against the vassals, the arrest of Ruyang King, the court’s stance, who opposes it, and what the prince’s current situation is, whether he’s under house arrest or detained, and where. Then we can devise a good rescue plan and determine the specific objectives for our trip to the Great Capital.”

After listening, Wang Baobao was taken aback and said, ”In the past, such information was easy to obtain, but now the entire Jiangnan power has been assimilated by the court, and even the intelligence system has been absorbed. It would be difficult to gather intelligence on the Great Capital now.”

Hearing Wang Baobao’s words, Zhao Ya said, ”Brother, Jiusi is right. To know oneself is to win every battle. We are currently blind to the intelligence in the Great Capital, which is unacceptable. If we plunge in recklessly, we’d be like a headless fly.”

”Even if it’s difficult, we should find a way to understand the situation in the Great Capital.”

Wang Baobao, hearing this, frowned tightly and said, ”Should I send someone to the Great Capital now?”

Chen Jie raised his hand and said, ”Sending someone to the Great Capital now would be too late. By the time they gather all the information, it might be two or three months later. Then, even if we manage to rescue him, the Jiangnan Region would likely already be assimilated by the court, and you’d be like a house without a home.”

Hearing this, Wang Baobao said, ”Then what should we do?”

Zhao Ya also frowned tightly, looking at Chen Jie, ”Is there a solution?”

Chen Jie said, ”The solution is simple. Although we don’t have the complete picture, we have enough idea to act. The core issue here is curtailing the vassals, and the court’s ultimate goal is also the suppression of vassals!”

Wang Baobao said, ”That’s right, it’s about suppressing vassals, but what does this have to do with intelligence?”

Chen Jie said, ”Since it’s about suppressing the vassals, it’s not just about one household. Is Ruyang Royal Mansion the only vassal in this world?”

Hearing this, Wang Baobao widened his eyes, looking at Chen Jie, ”You mean the other kings.”

Chen Jie said, ”Exactly, Daqian was established and conferred the princes, distributing lands to both guard Daqian and allowing independent governance. Both the Daqian court and the regional vassal kings are apprehensive of each other, so they can’t lack intelligence departments to monitor the court’s movements, don’t you agree? There’s no way Ruyang Royal Mansion didn’t establish a similar intelligence department in the Great Capital.”

Hearing this, Wang Baobao said, ”Of course, we have a dedicated team for it, spending a considerable amount on intelligence every year. And I know other kings are even more willing to spend more, as our Ruyang Royal Mansion, being of princely descent, places more trust in the court.”

Chen Jie said, ”Therefore, although our Ruyang Royal Mansion’s intelligence system can’t be used, the intelligence systems of other kings may still be viable. My suggestion is to borrow the intelligence systems of other vassals.”

Wang Baobao said, ”That’s indeed a good method.”

Zhao Ya said, ”Yes, they must realize that if the lips are gone, the teeth will be cold. The arrest of Father King must have greatly shocked them, as they would fear this fate befalling them too. If we only borrow their intelligence systems, they have no reason to refuse.”

Wang Baobao laughed, ”That’s right, Prince Luo, King Zhe, Prince Xiang, these guys are as timid as mice, probably shaking with fear, asking around about this matter. It’s impossible that they’d have the courage to disagree.”

Chen Jie, hearing this, said, ”This is indeed a very good breakthrough point.”

”Yes, I neglected this.”

Wang Baobao nodded, admitting he had overlooked this point, and Chen Jie then said, ”Additionally, don’t forget, the one most anxious about this matter is King Qi.”

Zhao Ya and Wang Baobao looked towards Chen Jie, taken aback.

Chen Jie said, ”Hehe, as the court desires to suppress the vassals, the two biggest obstacles are King Qi and Ruyang King. Now that Ruyang King has been detained by the court, how can King Qi remain unscathed?”

Zhao Ya said, ”But King Qi Residence has never been on good terms with us, we can’t rely on them too much this time.”

Chen Jie said, ”Hehe, indeed, we can’t rely on them, but we can still expect them to provide different opportunities. You must first believe that this is possible.”
