Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Zhao Ya sincerely thanked Su Yunjin, for indeed, if Su Yunjin did not nod in agreement, Chen Jiusi would find it truly difficult to manage.

Even if Jiusi insisted on going for her sake, if the family members were adamantly unwilling, the consequences would certainly not be pleasant.

Now that Su Yunjin was reasonable and supported Jiusi in helping her, it showed an extreme level of understanding.

To know that this was sending her man to die, and for another woman no less, if it were any other woman, how could she be willing to make such a huge sacrifice?

Yet, Su Yunjin possessed the courage to swallow the seas whole.

Though she appeared as a gentle woman, indeed, her heart was not something an ordinary woman could match.

Upon hearing Zhao Ya’s words, Su Yunjin smiled and said, ”Commandery Princess, you are of noble birth, and I should not be climbing too high, but since you are willing to speak a few words with me, let me climb a bit. Given that the Commandery Princess is willing to give up so much for Jiusi, as Jiusi’s wife, I am deeply moved. If Jiusi does not respond, he would be ungrateful.”

”I know he is a man of deep affection; he intends to continue this easily, and how could we not assist our husband in fulfilling his sentiments!”

Su Yunjin smiled as she spoke to Zhao Ya, hearing this, Zhao Ya had a smile on her face. She had always felt that Su Yunjin was a perceptive person, and it proved to be true now.

She also knew that Chen Jiusi was a married man; marrying him would possibly face not only their emotional issues but also obstacles from his father, as well as Chen Jiusi’s two wives.

Though Zhao Ya was extroverted, it made her more reluctant to bicker with the women in the inner courtyard; it was uninteresting and consumed a lot of energy.

She had seen restlessness in her father’s inner courtyard, where the concubines resorted to all sorts of sinister moves for his favor, like employing sorcerers, making straw dolls to pierce repeatedly, secretly poisoning, and pillow talk.

Anyway, Zhao Ya had seen many ghostly tricks in the inner courtyard; although she was unafraid for Chen Jiusi, it undeniably left her uncomfortable.

But witnessing Su Yunjin’s attitude toward her today, Zhao Ya felt relieved and her fondness for Su Yunjin increased. Whether a person is sincere or deceitful is actually easy to distinguish.

The Commandery Princess is not foolish; instead, she is extremely wise and naturally can sense the sincerity in Su Yunjin’s words.

Then Zhao Ya held Su Yunjin’s hand and said, ”Sister Su, I shall call you Sister Su henceforth.”

Upon hearing this, Su Yunjin smiled and said, ”If the Commandery Princess does not mind, being your sister is my fortune, so I shall go ahead shamelessly and call the Commandery Princess my younger sister.”

Zhao Ya smiled and said, ”Good, good, being blessed with a sister like Sister Su is my fortune as well.”

The two women held hands tightly, smiled at each other, and felt an unexpected tenderness.

Watching the two women like this, Chen Jie was delighted, for nothing compared to the reality of a harmonious family, and he had been worried that the Commandery Princess’s arrival might cause discord in the inner courtyard, but unexpectedly, the two women got along like sisters.

This was indeed a huge blessing, and naturally, Chen Jie also knew that to achieve this, both women must have endured much grievance.

The wife needed to accept sharing her husband with another woman, though in this era, a man having multiple wives and concubines was common and more accepted than in later generations; still, love should be selfish, and Su Yunjin had to endure sharing her love, which was an internal struggle against human nature.

Truly, it was difficult for the wife.

And Zhao Ya, her sacrifice was also immense; considering her status, she was extraordinarily noble, as the Commandery Princess, her background was second only to a Princess.

Moreover, she was predetermined to be the current Empress, with such status, marrying into Chen Jie’s household meant being a lesser-ranked wife.

Yes, neither Su Yunjin nor Chen Jie treated her as lesser, but in the mouths of others, she was indeed lesser.

So the pressure she endured was definitely not as carefree as it appeared on the surface, but regardless, she endured it all.

Now, as the two women held hands, if not for him, why would they have to endure such grievance?

Chen Jie could truly feel the profound love from the two women, and he swore in his heart to cherish them; he may forsake the world, but he could not forsake these two women!

Thinking this, Su Yunjin spoke thoughtfully, ”This matter, I do not understand, nor do I participate. However, there is one thing I do know.”

With her words, everyone turned to look at her, puzzled about what Su Yunjin understood.

Su Yunjin smiled and said, ”I understand that when one is hungry, they need to eat. The younger sister and brother-in-law have traveled arduously, how could they view with empty stomachs? Please move to the side hall, for the meal is prepared.”

Hmm?

Hearing the term ”brother-in-law” leave Su Yunjin’s lips left Wang Baobao stunned, for it was a call he was unfamiliar with.

Yet, Su Yunjin’s recent words and demeanor were quite pleasing to Wang Baobao, prompting him to smile and say, ”Thank you.”

Following that, Chen Jie also accompanied Zhao Ya to the side hall, and there, six dishes and one soup were already prepared, a mix of meat and vegetables, quite sumptuous.

Chen Jie sat accompanying them, while Su Yunjin said, ”The accommodations are humble, apologize if it is inadequate, brother-in-law.”

Su Yunjin’s refusal to include the Commandery Princess was simple; the food here was just as much hers, so as family, there’s no need to mock each other.

She simply didn’t treat the Commandery Princess as a guest but rather as family.
