Chapter 83 -78 Are You Still a Rapist, Ni Wenjun?

“Lord Husband, you have returned!”

Dawn was a faint glow as Chen Jie returned home. Su Yunjin hadn’t slept all night and was up, looking at him.

“Are you feeling any better, does it still hurt?”

Chen Jie asked.

“It’s a little better, but still hurts a tiny bit!”

The woman replied.

Chen Jie hugged her and gently patted her shoulder, “Mm, the first time always hurts, but it’ll be more comfortable afterwards…”

The woman’s face instantly flushed a burning red.

“Come, let’s sleep a little more.”

Chen Jie said as he held Su Yunjin and fell asleep.

This time he didn’t move about.

Approximately half an hour later, the door of Chen Jie’s family home was knocked. Chen Jie had not yet fallen asleep, while Su Yunjin slept in a daze.

Chen Jie got up, and Su Yunjin watched him.

Chen Jie said, “It’s nothing, I’ll go have a look.”

Opening the door, standing outside was a brother from the Fishing Guild, “Jiu Si, brother, get ready, we’re assembling for a mountain search!”

“Go to the mountains?”

Chen Jie didn’t understand the situation, but still, he was told by the Fishing Guild brother, “Hurry and get dressed, you’ll understand when you get there. This time it’s an order directly from the Hall Master!”

“Alright, I’m going.”

Chen Jie felt a thump in his heart, it seemed they were preparing to search the mountain.

Fortunately, he had moved ahead of schedule.

Thinking this, Chen Jie went back into the room and put on a thick coat. He told Su Yunjin not to wait for him for breakfast, then followed the Fishing Guild Disciples out.

They rushed out the door in a hurry.

Soon, they arrived at the foot of the mountain and noticed many people standing there, led by Wu Zhong.

However, Wu Zhong looked rather somber at this time.

Chen Jie walked over and said, “Uncle Zhong!”

Wu Zhong turned and saw Chen Jie, “Oh, Jiu Si.”

“Uncle Zhong, what’s going on, such a big fuss?”

Wu Zhong said, “Catching Ni Manzi.”

Chen Jie saw his gloomy mood today and curiously asked, “Uncle Zhong, what’s wrong?”

Wu Zhong looked slightly grave as he said, “Hong’er is injured.”

“Ah!”

Hearing this, Chen Jie was startled.

“Who did it?”

After saying this, Chen Jie regretted it immediately; who else could it be but his Brother Ni?

Initially, Wu Hong followed Zhang Liye and others to capture Ni Manzi. This was surely during Brother Ni’s breakout that involved him.

“It’s not serious, is it?”

Wu Zhong fell silent.

“There’s no threat to his life. Speaking of which, we have to thank that Ni Manzi, seeing Hong’er, he said he owed Doctor Bai a favor and spared his life. Otherwise, it wouldn’t just be a serious injury now.”

Wu Zhong said.

For a moment, Chen Jie didn’t know who to help. Both families had been good to him, and it was tough to help one side or the other!

“Uncle Zhong, is there anything I can help with?”

Wu Zhong said, “Nothing right now, if needed, I will find you.”

…

The two of them talked, followed by Peng Shizhong coming over, then he said to the Fishing Guild Disciples below, “Brothers, be careful when going up the mountain. That Ni Manzi is a desperate criminal. If you spot him, signal immediately, and we will rush over.”

“Yes.”

Everyone responded, followed by Peng Shizhong saying, “Light the torches!”

The torches were made from one-meter-long wooden sticks, with their heads wrapped in hemp rope, straw, and other flammable materials, then rolled in kerosene, taken out, and lit, able to illuminate for a considerably long time.

Very soon a train of torches lit up within the mountain woods.

At the same time, elsewhere, Guild Cao’s Yu Biao, along with Yu Sanliu and others, ascended the mountain holding torches. To the left was the Fishing Guild, and to the right, Guild Cao.

Both sides lit torches and advanced up the mountain.

The search began in earnest.

The Fishing Guild adopted a pattern of three members per small team, Chen Jie, Fifth Captain, and Xiao Hu in one group.

Following the mountain path, they began their search along Wild Wolf Gully.

Chen Jie searched very carefully, not missing a single detail, after all, he knew that Ni Wenjun was not on this mountain.

So, he searched thoroughly.

After a full two hours, they didn’t find anything. Just then, a disturbance arose within the guild because they heard that due to the unsuccessful search, four Energy Transformation Masters decided to take a risk and explore within the gray mist.

The Fishing Guild and Guild Cao needed to send a few elites to follow, with the Manager leading the team himself.

For the Fishing Guild, Wu Zhong, Big Ship Leader, and Second Ship Leader stepped forward.

Guild Cao did not include Yu Sanliu in their group, but Yu Biao also entered the gray mist!

Witnessing these key figures leave, the disciples of Guild Cao and the Fishing Guild glanced at each other, and Yu Sanliu, spotting Chen Jie, showed a smile and slowly approached.

Seeing him coming over, the disciples of the Fishing Guild were on high alert.

Yu Sanliu stopped in front of Chen Jie, all the disciples around them were tense, but Chen Jie watched him without betraying any emotion.

After a long stare-down, Yu Sanliu smiled and said, “Jiu Si, we meet again!”

Chen Jie responded, “Yes, Mr. Yu.”

Yu Sanliu chuckled, “You haven’t forgotten about the last incident, right?”

“That one, where Mr. Yu apologized with a bow?”

Yu Sanliu’s smile grew wider, and he suddenly leaned in close to Chen Jie’s ear and said, “Kid, I’m not going to let this loss go unpaid. I’ll make sure you watch as I play with your wife, not just with one man but with a group…”

Chen Jie looked up at him.

A glint of murderous intent flashed in his eyes, and he leaned in, “Young Master Yu, I’m afraid you’ll have the desire but no life to play with…”

Yu Sanliu looked at Chen Jie, slightly surprised. He hadn’t expected Chen Jie would dare to talk back at him like that.

Yu Sanliu nodded lightly and said, “All right, let’s see who can outsmart whom!”

The two men exchanged glances and then burst into hearty laughter together, “Hahaha…”

But the murderous intent in their eyes betrayed the fact that they had become mortal enemies.

Now, all they were waiting for was an opportunity!

By dawn, nearly two hundred people had scoured the back mountain so thoroughly that nothing was left undiscovered, including Chen Jie’s so-called secret cave, which, though no longer a secret, turned out to be empty.

Thus, everyone’s efforts that night had been in vain.

Half an hour later, the Energy Transformation Masters who had entered the grey mist started returning one by one. They were visibly exhausted, and a few even bore injuries.

They also carried with them a tattered and blood-stained robe.

The very one that Chen Jie had thrown into the grey mist.

Unexpectedly, they had found it and brought it back.

Everyone was weary from a night of labor. The officials from the Huangzhou Prefecture suspected that Ni Wenjun might have escaped to other villages and towns via the back mountain.

Upon hearing this, the Fishing Guild and Guild Cao quickly spread the message, urging the people in the nearby villages to start searching. No stone was left unturned, no ground un-dug until Ni Manzi was found.

The disciples of the Fishing Guild and Guild Cao from Xiantao Town took turns standing guard on the mountain, to prevent Ni Manzi from making a surprise counterattack.

It had to be said that the mobilization capability of these two sects was impeccable. With their efforts, all the villages near Dahei Mountain were mobilized for an extensive search for Ni Manzi, making quite a spectacle.

…

It seemed as though they would not rest until they found Ni Wenjun.

This even left Chen Jie perplexed, as it appeared that his Brother Ni’s actions were not as simple as just killing officials and rebelling—the scale of the reaction seemed excessive.

And so began the tumultuous search operation, with the staff of the Fishing Guild taking turns to scour the mountain.

Because Chen Jie had some influential connections, he was allowed to return home without participating in the grueling search.

With his time now at his own disposal, Chen Jie changed into a new set of clothes and, under the disguise of Ni Wenjun’s Scarred Face mask, took some steamed buns and a calabash of water and headed for the abandoned house mentioned by Ni Wenjun.

Chen Jie suspected that the massive search operation by the Huangzhou Prefecture officials was likely related to the person hidden in that abandoned house.

After ensuring that he had not been seen or followed, Chen Jie used his Martial Artist’s strength, enhanced by his expertise in the Skin Buff Realm, to leap with a cushioned step into the yard of the dilapidated house that Ni Wenjun had spoken of.

Wham!

Chen Jie landed, crouching down without rushing to enter, observing his surroundings for quite a while until he was certain it was an abandoned house that nobody had entered.

Only then did he rise and cautiously make his way towards the house.

The building had already collapsed in places; its windows were long gone, leaving behind broken wood and the droppings of unidentified animals, creating an unbearable stench.

People passing by didn’t even spare a second glance at it.

Furthermore, the neighboring homes were located quite far away, making this almost a solitary, ruined dwelling.

Chen Jie approached the door and gently pushed open the aged, decayed wooden gate.

Creak, creak…

The old wooden hinges groaned painfully.

Flutter, flutter…

As the door opened, a number of bats flew out, flapping their wings as they escaped.

Chen Jie flinched with unease, then, following Ni Wenjun’s description, he proceeded inside and located an old, decrepit vegetable storage cellar.

Huff, huff~

After lighting a Fire Stick, he descended into the cellar and discovered a sack in the dark corner with holes, probably for ventilation to prevent suffocation.

Chen Jie walked over and untied the sack.

The next moment, he uncovered an extremely beautiful young girl.

The girl’s eyes were tightly shut, as if she was half-conscious.

Chen Jie was taken aback. Could it be that she was suffocated to death?

Or could this beautiful young girl be Brother Ni’s lover?

Or was Brother Ni also moonlighting as a rapist?

Or perhaps the girl’s identity was extraordinary, and the relentless pursuit of Brother Ni was all for this woman’s sake.

Various thoughts raced through Chen Jie’s mind.

But now there was a problem; the girl seemed to have suffocated. This was a serious matter—if such an important person died, the trouble would be immense.

Thinking this, Chen Jie set down his food.

He also untied the rope around the sack and laid the girl flat, then pulled the cloth out of her mouth. She lay there, stunningly beautiful.

Such a beauty was rare, perhaps even bewitching than Su Yunjin.

Or perhaps, her beauty matched that of Su Yunjin.

However, Su Yunjin, who worked hard and had a scholarly aura, always appeared very dignified.

Whereas this girl was as lovely as Su Yunjin yet there was a playful look in her eyes; she probably wasn’t someone easy to deal with.

“Hey, wake up, hey, wake up!”

Chen Jie patted the girl’s delicate cheeks, but the girl did not show any response.

However, had Chen Jie observed closely, he might have noticed her fingers, hidden beneath her, moving slightly.

Chen Jie frowned, wondering what to do next.

He reached out to check for her breath and found that the girl wasn’t breathing anymore—an alarming situation indeed.

Could she be an important hostage to Brother Ni?

No, he couldn’t just let her die.

He then felt the girl’s body again and found it wasn’t cold, meaning she must have only just stopped breathing.

There was still hope for resuscitation.

Mouth-to-mouth it was!

As Chen Jie considered his next steps, the young girl lying on the ground cursed in her mind, this damned bastard, couldn’t he be gentler? My face is in pain from his slapping!

“Not good, Zhao Ya, you have to hold on. You’ll surely escape the clutches of this demon.”

“Once you get out, I’ll have Father send troops to flay this bastard alive, hack him to pieces—damned scoundrel, daring to capture this Commandery Princess!”

“Huh, what is he doing?”

Zhao Ya waited for a while, but when the man showed no response, she grew puzzled. That’s when she heard him rubbing his hands together.

Rubbing his hands together… for what purpose?

Zhao Ya was bewildered, while Chen Jie gauged where to apply pressure on the corresponding area of her lungs.

First compressions, then breaths, right?
